View Full Version : How's Everyone Feel About Theme Waves?

Star Wars does this and it's kinda neat. They release an entire wave (5 or 6 figures usually) with a specific theme, like their "Star Destroyer Bounty Hunter" wave or their "Hoth Ice Planet" wave.

I was thinking of several cool waves they could do...

PURPLE DRAGON CLAN WAVE (from "Fallen Angel" and others)
* Human Clothes Leo
* Human Clothes Don
* Human Clothes Mike
* Human Clothes Raph
* Purple Dragon Leader
* Purple Dragon Punk #1
* Purple Dragon Punk #2
* Angel

SECRET ORIGINS WAVE
* Hamato Yoshi with tiny normal Splinter in cage
* Ancient Japan Shredder
* Ancient Japan Foot Soldier (this would be a HUGE seller!!!)
* Mortu with Ancient Japan Exoskeleton (fabric cloak over body?)
* Evil Utrom with Shredder Exoskeleton (maybe push a button and the chest pops out to reveal Utrom??)
* April O'Neil in Reporter Costume (with jury-rigged camera)
* Casey Jones in Trench Coat (with toaster)

TCRI WAVE (various eps)
* Female Utrom Leader
* Male Utrom Leader #1
* Male Utrom Leader #2
* Generic Utrom Male Scientist (Exoskeleton)
* Generic Utrom Female Scientist (Exoskeleton)
(Maybe each of these could come with a Utrom Virtual Reality Crypod and
they'd join together to create a Mini-Playset)

Also, the Star Wars line makes "Ultra" figures... these are regular scale figures with deluxe accessories at a slightly higher price (regular figures retail at 4.99, the "Ultras" retail at 10.99)

* Super Nano-Tech Monster (parts to create the giant one with the TV screen face) with Nano's "Dad"
* Utrom 3-Pack with Crashed Utrom Ship (just the hover pads... no exo-skeletons)
* Dr. Baxter Stockman -- like the Masters of the Universe exclusive Keldor, he'd have interchangable heads... one regular and one with the eye-patch... Baxter would also include 4 Mousers and his Spider body (which you can snap his eye-patch head into)

I can't place these into waves, but I'd love to see them made...
* Foot Tech Scientist (not the ninja, but the maskless geeky scientist ones)
* The Ultimate Ninja
* Trenchcoat Leo (removable fabric coat and a fedora molded to fit his head)
* Trenchcoat Don (removable fabric coat and a fedora molded to fit his head)
* Trenchcoat Mike (removable fabric coat and a fedora molded to fit his head)
* Trenchcoat Raph (removable fabric coat and a fedora molded to fit his head)

And I'm still HUGE on the idea of an accessories pack. This maybe 20-piece set would cost the same as a standard figure and have newly molded accessories and replacement weapons. Maybe the weapons from the sewer lair. I wanna see the Turtle Night Vision goggles and Shell Cells for the 4 Turtles. This would be a good time to re-include Raph's hook and rope that was dropped from the original release of the figure. Maybe a "Heroes" pack and a "Villains" pack with various weapons for Shredder and his Foot Soldiers.

All those ideas sound good to me...I doubt will get most of it though.

I have to give you props for a good attempt, but if you recall, those are the kinda lines that began the demise of the old line. To many TMNT variations. Suprised it dosent kill Star Wars. Don't know much about them though.

Well, the Star Wars waves have only been 3-5 figures. So if they did that, it would be more likely to work. And we're getting sorta theme waves anyway. Like the fact their supposedly releasing Turtle Titan, Dr. Malignus, and Silver Sentry at once in the same wave. And what killed the old line was too many Turtles that didn't appear in the toon. If they do Toon Accurate figures there shouldn't be a problem. :)

very true but the old school themed toys were justs stupid and pointless. like Universal Monster Turtles and Colonial War turtles and stupid crap like that. these ideas could work and they have all been shown in the show which i like. i want more figures based off of the show and not just figures made just cuz they could be.

The exact reason why the only figures I listed came from specific episodes. And the Turtle variants, like the Trench Coat turtles, could easily be turned into the regular versions... justifying their being released, so that when the original versions are phased out on the shelves, late-comers to the game can at least get the original 4 with OPTIONAL outfits.

I agree, though, that the series can be ruined with variations on the turtles... but lets be realistic... they'll put them in each wave somehow.

I like those ideas, but they'd have to be spaced pretty well apart to avoid flooding the market too much.

Just as long as the other figures in the series are good, that shoulden't be too much of a problem really. And as long as they don't start doing Dino Turtles type figures again. I'd much rather seem them doing stuff like the Mutations and Ninja Action variants, that way there's an actual reason to pick up the turtles again and again.

All those sound really cool. Too bad it probably won't happen :(

Hmm... yeah, alot of those sounds really cool. I'd pick most of those up.
But, I agree with most here, as long as they don't go too far off base with the toys (mostly because I wouldn't have enough money too keep up if they did!) it'll be fine. :)
