I have them dwelling in this big box, but with only about 10 comics missing from the entire series, I'm starting to get too many to stack. What do you guys keep yours in? How do you seperate the series? Just want to compare notes. Was going to get some underbed boxes, but maybe a file box would be better. Would love to compare. However if you are going to post, please post specs if you have them. Like a 16 qt box, etc, so we can compare notes about whats the nest fit for TMNT comics.
As well if you can list aprox price paid, and where you bought it. It'll be super helpful to anyone trying to figure out whats best to keep em in.

I keep them in a model car box, exactly the right size for any comic.
I keep my Archies in one box, mirage all in three boxes, and Image in one.
I do this with all my marvel's, DC, dark horse, and the rest of it.

I made a custom box to put in a file cabinet drawer. Then, if you want, you can make some paper diveders with tabs.

I have doubles of some of them. Some are strictly collectibles, which I DON'T read, so I keep THEM bagged and boarded in a file cabinet, which I keep securely LOCKED! (Little neices and nephews;etc.; tend to take sticky fingers...literally!) So this is for the protection of my comics, and NOT just mt Turles ones. I collect Elfquest, Extinctioners, Katmandu; etc.
My readables I keep in binder sleeves in comic book binders. And that's the way I store mine. ;)

hey, that's an interesting technique....
although I'd need about six or seven 3" binders to actually pull it off ;)

I second that. It's what I keep my comics in. I have three small length ones stacked up in my closet already!

Yeah, I need to get some comic boxes eventually, but at the moment I have mine bagged and boarded and sitting upright in my bookcase.
You must bag and board to protect them long term and never store comics or valuable mags stacked on top of each other, always sit them upright like books.

I have mine in protective sleeves in binders.
I keep mine in plastics in the comic boxes.
Here's a question, though -- a while back I remember someone saying that it's good to switch them into new plastics every three years, because the plastic reacts with the paper or something and bad things happen. Anyone know the truth of that? If it's true, my comics are already ruined (haven't looked at 'em in years), but I'd like to know before I pull 'em out and start crying.

I've had many of my comics in the same bags for four or five years, and I have yet to see any damage.

The reason it was a good idea to switch your comics' bags was because a lot of plastics are coated in acids. This acid is harmless to the touch, but it can damage the paper that comics are printed on. Especially all those older comics, printed on newsprint paper.
In the past few years, "acid free" bags have become more prevelant. You can tell which ones are acid free, because it says so on the package/wrapper.
I think a lot of comic backing boards were coated in acidic waxes, as well. Check to make sure your boards are also acid-free.
I know there are a few comic stores that only carry acid-free products, now. Check with your store, to see what they've got. With acid-free products, you'll never have to worry about your comics deteriorating, ever again!
Ah, I see. Why would they make these things with acidic stuff anyway? Seems like acid free would be the way to go...unless they just wanted to MAKE US PAY by forcing us to switch bags every few years. I've said it before and I'll say it again...
Or maybe not, since these forums have a swear filter or something. :goof:

If you want them to last...
1.)Keep them in a cool place with little sunlight and humidity.
2.)DO NOT stack them.
3.)Put them in acid-free bag+boards and put them in a comic box.
