This was a great episode, really serious, where we saw the devastating power of the Technodrome after remaining stuck for 45 episodes.

It also marked the end of the 3rd season, and the beginning of a new kind of episode, less serious, and half of them without Shredder and Krang (the main plot). The series should have ended at this episode to remain flawless, but I understand that other seasons were necessary for business, and for the fans.

Shredder is Splintered, The big blow out, My brother the bad guy and Turtle Trek. Basically any episode that showcases Shredder kicking ass.

Agreed. I would guess that David Wise was told to expect that this episode (or rather, the trilogy of "The Big Rip Off", "The Big Break-In" and "The Big Blow-Out") might be the end of the series.

The series would have been okay after that point with all the new villians, I think. (They could have just imported more of the characters and plots from the Mirage and Archie comics, no?) But it's too bad that the cartoon became so silly after that point (though the trend was reversed at around season 7). I was 8 when the show premiered, 10 when "The Big Blow-Out" aired, and I don't remember thinking that the show was too serious or hard to follow.

I don't remember much about the show...that's why i'm trying to get them... :wink: but i liked turtle tracks, casey jones: outlaw hero, cyber turtles, usagi yojimbo and farewell lotus blossom...and any where shredder and krang offer some good zinngers at eachother
