Want to listen to the soundtracks to the first 4 TMNT games the way they were MEANT to be heard? Throw the crappy midis out the window and read along.

Here's my guide to doing so.

What you'll need:

A computer.
Some sort of web browser to access the sites...
Winrar (http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar330.exe) (Winzip will work on 2 out of three of the game's music, but Winrar will open all three file types, so I reccomend it)
Meridian Advance (http://www.zophar.net/utilities/download/Meridian109.exe)

And one or all of the following archives.
TMNT I (http://www.zophar.net/nsf/tmnt.zip)
TMNT II (http://www.zophar.net/nsf/tmnt2.zip)
TMNT IV (http://www.zophar.net/zsnes/spc/tmnt.rar)

Download Winrar (or Winzip) and install both if you don't have them. Once you have that installed, download Meridian Advance and install that. Now, unzip (or unrar, whatever) one or all of the archives above. Take this file (or FILES, in case of TMNT IV) and place them in a folder, or simply on your desktop.

Start up Meridian Advance, open one of the .nsf files or one of the .spc files, and hit play. You're done!

There are many other programs and ways to do this at Zophar.net, including some Winamp plugins. There are also similar methods to listen to Gameboy, Sega Genesis, and other videogame system music formats. If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free to ask away!

Sounds the same as it did on the NES.. :-?

That's the point. Instead of having to listen to midi remakes, you can listen to the actual music.

Oh.. I thought that it "enhanced" it somehow.

Nah. And I dunno about that player there because it's for windows, but the one I use has the ability to turn off all the different channels and have only one or two playing at a time. Very neat.
