I emailed Dan about it too. I'll post what he says as soon as I get a reply.

Sounds pretty cool but I'm skeptical because of the lack of good photos and why is he waiting 30 days to ship these?

What do you guys think? Think I'll ask the seller some questions about it.

Curious indeed. The seller has good feedback. And he has a picture of the backer card, so I'm tempted to believe that it's real. Hopefully Dan can fill you in on these. It sounds like it will be the same figures that will be released later in the year. Just 100 of each are being released early w/ Peter Laird's simulated signature sticker on the bubble. :)

I don';t know hun this does seem to good to be true but oddly enough I believe this guy I might actully try to get myself one of these box sets seem to be poping up left and right these days for the guys.
I wish theyd make some special characters though for the box sets that would really make me have to go get them all.

They're definitely legitamite. That's the seller Playmates uses for special Ebay promos.

They did the same thing last year with the Playmates Simpsons 2-pack dioramas. There were 3 total, and they sold 100 of each early on ebay. The only thing that was special about those is that they came with a certificate of authenticity from Playmates, and you got them at least a month before anyone else.

It sounds like these are quite a bit more interesting, having a holographic sticker with Laird's signature actually on the bubble.

I bid on one of the auctions and then I e-mailed him to ask what the reserve price was, and this was his reply:

I bid on one of the solo ones and it appears as if the individual ones have a reserve at $6 or so.

Also if you look at the tiny pictures, the package is shown unpunched (complete rectangle) which i think is kinda cool.

Dan got back to me. He didn't have any info so he asked Mirage CEO Gary Richardson about it. They are indeed real. Playmates is testing to see what kind of interest there is in Limited Edition figures. The hologram is so cool. I sent him some of my ideas and asked him to pass them along. :D

I got my bid for $1 on one set. I'll bid at the reserve price before it ends. It doesn't look like anyone should have to battle for a set. There will be plenty to go around.

On a side note, I wonder if Playmates is testing the "exclusive" waters for future plans of releasing comic accurate TMNT or something like that. That would be awesome. Although selling Space Hoppin' turtles to compare sales with a possible release of comic accurate TMNT is no comparison at all.

Just got my own set for $24.50. Not too bad. I'm pretty sure the reserve price on those things is $24.00.

These are the worst Turtles toys so far. But if its limited edition, I have to get it.

Yeah, definitely. The auction doesn't even look all that convincing. I was just surprised altogether that Playmates would do this. But they have an agenda going on right now. And I'm going to find out exactly what that is.

Yeah, funny like Colon Cancer. This was investigated when it first came up. The company has ties to Playmates, and did a similar thing with the Simpsons figures a while back. No need for worries. :)

Oh, they are really nice. One of my favorite series yet! The sticker on the back is suthntic and looks really nice! Mikey looks the best and they all are packaged really well too. The detail and paint jobs are nice but the best thing is that this company that is on eBay selling the early turtles don't fool around, these figures and packaging are 100% MINT! Absolutely perfect, I will put pictures up soon!
