Alright, definitely the worst episode of season 2. It goes in my top 10 worst episodes of the entire series. Shredder just duplicates Rex 1 and let's them do all the work and complains about how they're never successful in destroying the turtles. A really bad episode IMO. Anyone else, thoughts?

I loathe this episode, easily the worst from the first three seasons. It just sucks. I've only seen it once but that was more than enough.

I haven't seen it in a long time but I remember that Rex-1 appointed himself April's protector or something like that. Shredder should have had a more active role in this episode. He should have atleast used some Dimension X technology to upgrade the Rex units. The Rex units were just some funny robocops.

I didn't like it all too much, but it wasn't bad. I have it on tape and I haven't watched it very many times so that has to say something

It wasn't all that great. It seemed like a homage to Robocop in a way, just without the death and stuff, but it was poorly executed, and the way they won was stupid. I mean, arobics and westerns? Dumb.

It was just boring and predictable, and the ending wasn't spectacular either. I think it had something to do with the fact that Rex-1 wasn't a cool robot, like Metalhead, but a really lame robot.

i liked rex one as a character...but the ep wasmn't the best....did he show up in anyother eps??

This episode is o.k... Much better than Rex-1's return, "Leonardo, the Renaissance Turtle" in 1991. There were a few things that bugged me though. For one thing, the Turtles called themselves amphibians. I can understand Shredder calling them that, but wouldn't they know that they are reptiles? (I think they finally figured it out, because they call themselves reptiles in a later episode)
Another thing, I always thought it was weird how they drove the Turtle van into the river, and then had it minutes later on the road. How'd they get it out of the river?? Rex-1 as a character didn't bother me much. It was a little weird how Irma was jealous of a robot.
And....Turtle shaped fireworks? haha I want some of those..
Turtles: "It's us!"
Don: "Personally, I think it looks more like me."
That's all for now,, it's been awhile since I've seen this...... I may be wrong about how the turtle van thing happened.

technacly the turtles are both reptiles and amphipians....since they started their lives as normal turtles and r now mutant turtles....i think that works....am i wrong??

Yeah, the turtle van thing was so sloppy it made it seem that they had 2 turtle vans....

This episode could have been much better. I agree that the way they won was reall dumb. I've only seen this episode 2 or 3 times. It wasn't all that bad.

I LOVED THIS EPISODE

Seriously, I have NO clue why so many people hate it, it was a classic Robocop style spoof

For some reason, I find the goof hilarious. It's like the Turtles got the stunt double van of the two and Splinter and April cruise with ease in the kept-in-perfection original! Nothing terrible can happen to the original van when Splinter only drives it during several emergencies but the stunt double van the Turtles drive into practically everything is another story.... :tlol:

I'm not sure if I am mixing this part up with another episode/show but at the end of this episode didn't they end up in an empty amusment park/carnival and end up on the merry-go-round?

i dont think the robo episode was so bad it was more a bit fun.
to bad krang dident get the hands on rex-1.

Krang had no intention of doing so. He just mocked Shredder for all of season 2. He had no intention of helping him.

I just read the synopsys at the official site, and it doesn't ring any bells... Musta missed it. Of course, I haven't seen many TMNT eps as of late, so I may have seen it and forgotten about it.

Who was the voice of Rex 1? maybe that will jog my meomory..

Guess I'm one of the few who likes the ep. It was pretty good, but not horrible. I liked Rex the most in that ep, he was funny. The ep that sucked worse than this one was the sequel ep to this one, "Leonardo the Renisannse<sp?> Turtle". I liked the Leo aspects of the ep, but other than that it was bad. It had Rex return in the ep, but the animation was bad and other stuff.

I don't think its a TERRIBLE episode persay, but it had a few bad moments that are noticeable, as already mentioned dropping the van into the water and then having it back later... The other thing that bugged me was the fact that Shredder made a whole army of Rex but we only see like three destroyed after Rex's aerobic workout and then the battle is over. Ummmm....okay :-?

Ah well, its an okay episode, I don't mind it but like so many eps its just cheesy, but its Turtles. :)

I agree with all those things cuz I noticed all that too. Also besides having the van back later (unless they have more than one or something) notice how it was I think Raph driving the van before they plunged into the water? Then after commercial break it was Leo driving the van when they plunged into the water? Leo was not the driver originally (unless they switch places really fast but I doubt it).

It;s one of the few episodes I have on tape and I'm not too impressed with it. I remember it from when I was a kid, and didn't like it much then either.

I think it was Irma. Never liked her or any of the other Channel 6 idiots.

Hmm...and I liked this episdoe. Then again, I like just about all of the original episodes...

I rewatched this one like a month ago. I dont think it was very good. The robo cop has been overused.

I thought of RoboCop too when I first saw that episode. This was deffinately not the best episode, no violence and what's with the marry-go-round?

ZariusTwo

Yeah well..it ain't THAT violent because of the policy at that time

LOL! I saw this topic title and I thought, hmmm,... looks like this episode is well liked... but I never really liked it. One of the worst from season 2 along with the Pizza Killers one.

One of the worst from season 2...

Agreed...seems like one of those "budget saver" episodes, but that doesn't make it any less fun ;)

...along with the Pizza Killers one.

You'll get over it tomorrow, don't worry.

Two Turtle vans? I was watching this one the other night and was like "WTF" but I can't really take the old series seriously, anyway. So, whatever.

Overall, it was a pretty decent episode. Definately not "Enter the Fly" quality but it was a fun episode to watch.

Whatever happened to these "Classic Episode Discussion" threads? There were some for mostly season 1 and 2 episodes in 2004. Did they stop for any reason? I love them but don't want to bump up all the old ones.

I believe the van thing was probably a misstake, and that April and Splinter should have used the Channel 6 news van instead.

Rip-off of RoboCop with some continuity errors and animation goofs. But it's not bad.

I remember it being okay but none of the weaker episodes of the season.
