This is a sweet contest, I'm definitely entering. Artxilla looks like a pretty cool place too, I've been looking for a good art forum for a while and this looks to be it.
Hey, sounds cool. Kinda sucks that it has to be a brother, but I've got to have at least a couple of those in my character inventory.

Wish LeS would spend more time replied to emails instead of making posts here...
I sent him my money order for a TMNT sketch almost 2 months ago. He emailed me saying he got the MO and the sketch would go out soon. And thats the last I heard. Maybe posting here will get him to get in touch with me.

is this just for funs and kicks or is this an effort to scout out ideas for a real 5th turtle somewhere in the turtle universe? I'm guessing and hoping no, but I may have missed something.
I may just enter!
My guess is that it's a "just for fun" contest. For bragging rights and cool TMNT stuff. I'm considering entering, if I get my entry to look decent enough.
MAN I WISH I COULD DRAW!!!!!!!!!!

All I see is turtle soup was canned. Sad Sad.
Which I'd assume means contest went kablooey.
Time's almost up, guys...draw, draw, draw! I just got my entry up a few minutes ago. :D
Even if the contest is defunct (I don't think it is...), I guess creating a 5th Turtle was kinda fun to do. Unlike most of you people (I'd guess), I'd never really done it before. :goofygri:

Page three. I dusted off an old but never used fan fiction character and revamped him a little.
Ahh, I remember seeing that one and thinking, "Whoa, this one looks kinda similar to what I came up with!" Didn't realize you were the one who drew it. Neat. :goofygri:

Aww, well, I had fun drawing anyway. Guess my coloring style doesn't translate well into a comic book inspired contest.

Hey! Don't sweat it, I didn't do so well eighter. Didn't even make the list of standout pieces. We all got to see a lot of cool entries, That was cool enough for me in the end. Butttttt....Winning would have been kick ass! lol.
Yeah, I didn't make the standout list either! *sob* But I never actually expected to win...I just thought it'd be fun to get something up. Plus now I've got more artwork for my "portfolio" or whatever. :)
The Cloaked Dahl (http://wes.scary-crayon.com/art/cdahl/) still had one of the cooler names, IMHO. Admittedly, the voodoo Turtle thing was kinda cool :D, but there were like three Caravaggios. (Plus, I just read the backstory -- if he was created by Merlin back in the medieval era, neither the name nor his voodoo background makes a ton of sense. But we are talking about mutant Turtles here. :goof: However, if he was created by magic, does that make him a mutant? Juggernaut wasn't a mutant...) So at least mine was a little unique...and I give him a pat on his pretty hidden shell for that. :D

I hear you man. I gave mine a tactical look , It had an almost "Snake Eyes" feel to it, and people were like, "what's the point?" If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't get it anyway....And odds are, those same people have played all the spec ops games and assassin games, and read comics on an at least somewhat frequent basis..so Why in the name of Gotrek Gurnisson couldn't they get what I had in mind for my Turtle? lol. Go figure man. lol. Anyway, For Bosch, I wanted my entry to have an old school Mirage comic book page feel to it. But my take on it.
Yeah, there were some really great entries, so I don't feel bad that I didn't win because I know that the person who did, and those who got mentioned, is/are extremely talented.
I still like my character anyway. I just feel that maybe I spoiled my chances by choosing the medium I did. I mean, I really needed to do the coloring, or the whole effect would be lost. But I can't computer color, so I was left with my pencils. Maybe if I'd inked it, even though I can't ink, I would have been able to make more of the details I put into the suit stand out, or...
*shrugs* Whatever. I can't spend any more time sighing over this, I've got other projects to get to. An artist's work is never done...

Hey Kali, My friend Tim...AKA Luscipher..he would probably color a few projects for you. He realy gets into that photoshopping stuff. Torquemada was his entry, by the way...

I really wish I wasn't so buisy I could have submitted my evil tmnt.
I've just always wanted shredder to make his own evil turtles on the old show I don't know why I just thought it would have been a great idea.
maby I'll pos tthem some time if anyone cares.

Hey Kali, My friend Tim...AKA Luscipher..he would probably color a few projects for you. He realy gets into that photoshopping stuff. Torquemada was his entry, by the way...
Thanks for the thought, but I usually don't work well with others. My artistic approach is somewhat... difficult for others to grasp.
Besides, with all the Photoshopping going around someone has to stand by the old ways.
Besides, with all the Photoshopping going around someone has to stand by the old ways. :wink:Well, there's something interesting in that...I've noticed that since I've started coloring pics (in the style that I color them, anyway), my drawing style has changed to accommodate the coloring. Before I'd draw with pencil and charcoal, shade more/less "realistically," and use the eraser for highlights...and I was really meticulous about the pictures. Now I more/less do quick and less "perfect" line sketches, ink them crudely (partly because I'm not skilled at inking, partly because I know I can always fix the image after it's scanned), and then I'm no longer drawing, but slowly dragging a mouse around and double-clicking. I really like the finished products (probably better than my old b/w pencil drawings), but it feels like something's missing in the artistic process. So something tells me that you'd probably hate the "new ways," Kali. :)
Well, I'm not against the "new ways". (You make me sound like an old fart! ) I've done my share of computer coloring and have a couple good pictures come out of it. But like you said, which is echoed in every single "how to draw for comic books" book I have, that style changes to suit the medium. Heck, going back over my comic story attempts I notice it. My first story has a good amount of shading, a style I love, but I realized that it probably wouldn't work well if I wanted to get printed. Trying to get adjusted to a cleaner look is harder for me, and inking is damn near impossible (literally, but I don't need to go into that story.)
I've seen people do amazing things with computer graphics, and I do not look down upon them. These people have found their talent. I am, and will always be a penciller, which I think is where my individual talents lie.

Heh, the closest i get to using computer programs on my art is scanning and fixing the size.
and my most sophisticated tool of drawing.... heh, Mechanical Pencil... :D
Long Live The Mechanical Pencil! I've been using the same one for about three or so years now. It's my baby.
