When do you think we will be getting a Karai figure? Do you think they will even make a Karai figure? I hope they make a figure of her, they probably will this summer, I hope....... Who else wants a Karai figure? :)

I'd imagine it will be out in the fall. Given we've seen no sculpts for it, that'd give them enough time to do it right and stuff.

If and when we get one, it wouldn't likely be until 2005. Mostly because it takes around a year for a figure to go from concept to the action figure aisle at your local store. And we also know most of what is coming in 2004. And it's mostly dealing with first season stuff or early second season. :)

Splinter, it could be possible that they never showed us the sculpt of her ahead of time, like they did with Baxter. And he was only "offically" announced about a month ago, right? I wouldn't be suprised if she got released in the November releasing.

Well, Baxter's a special case. We weren't even going to get a figure of him, until people made a massive fuss about him. Thankfully that worked, even though we're not getting a 'human' version. As for Karai, again there's a number of factors that work against her being made. Being both human and female, means that Playmates will be weary of producing her. :)

If they made a two or three pack with Karai with one or two of those weird foot ninja guys then it would sell. Playmates isn't known for doing those kinds of things though so nevermind. Those foot ninjas were cool though. I want to get like 20 of them.

I'm not saying that you're not right about this, mind you -- it does seem that toy manufacturers across the board don't seem to be producing many female characters (but that could just be because there are far more male characters in the superhero universes), and even when the female characters are made they seem to lack the articulation and attention to detail that the male figures have. But why is that?

I e-mailed Playmates. I should have posted this sooner.
Hello,
I was wondering If a Karai figure was in the works for a the TMNT line. She is a big fan favorite. I was also wondering what Baxter figure was being released? Human form or Robot form? I think interchangeable parts would be awsome! Thank you for doing a great job on the toy line and I look foward to the next figures!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have not seen the figure in the line up for this year.

There's a belief in the action figure industry, that female figures don't sell. And while there is some truth to this, it's only because they are overproduced. Yes, female figures will always sell less then male figures. That's because most young boys don't like playing with a girl figure. There are only a few examples of toy lines where the female figures sell as well as the male ones. One would be Star Wars, but that's because it's mostly collectors in the line now adays. Not kids. If female figures were made in smaller quanities then the male ones, then they'd not hurt the lines they come in so much. A couple toy lines are starting to learn this. :)

I mentioned that in the recent Where's April??? (http://www.scary-crayon.com/misc/april/) article. Those poor little boys are going to regret that later on, assuming they don't become well-adjusted individuals who actually have friends and don't go for long stretches of time during which action figures are their only companions.
