I am assuming that most of you read the interview conducted with Dan Berger regarding the upcoming Ninja Turtles cartoon. And let me just say here that the interview given made me extremely angry. It makes me want to use language I can't use here.

How totally manipulative were some of those questions? Question 5 was a good example: "Will the Turtles be hell-bent on eating pizza 24/7? This aspect of the Turtles is sort of dumb."

This makes me mad because of the way the question is presented. Perhaps if the person who did the interview had asked, "Will the Turtles love pizza as much as they did in the original cartoon?", or something like that, I wouldn't have had a problem with it. But he's trying to steer Mr. Berger into a corner by asking a stupid question like that. The interviewer is looking for a certain answer, and Mr. Berger did a good job by politely responding in a respectful manner. Gosh, that question made me mad.

Question 8 made me mad beyond belief! "Will Krang Dimension X, Bebop and Rocksteady or any other ridiculous things be in the show?" Since when the heck did those things suddenly become ridiculous? Let me tell you something, pal - if you don't like the Turtles eating pizza, or the fact that there is a Dimension X in the show, that is your opinion. But when you use that opinion in such a negative fashion in your questions because you're looking for a certain answer which you're hell-bent on getting, that is not okay.

The interviewer obviously has no reporting skills whatsoever; otherwise, his questions wouldn't have been so abrasive. Those were not neutral questions the interviewer asked; they were biased beyond belief, and that makes me mad beyond belief.

Hey, pal - if you can't ask questions without serving some sort of personal agenda, I'd advise you to invest in another job that suits your personality . . . taking out the trash.

What do you guys think? Were his questions a little personal or not?

By the way, kudos to Mr. Berger for answering them in such a respectful manner. I hope he doesn't think all Ninja Turtles fans are as abrasive as that interviewer was.

I agree that some of the questions was badly phrased.
However I like the answers :)

Yeah, I agree, several of those questions were worded badly, but Dan did a really good job of politely answering them, even when the questions seemed "angry". Dan knows a lot of TMNT fans through e-mail, and I've read several "interviews" with him. He knows that most fans aren't like that.

Yeah the questions could have been better... It seems that guy really hated the old cartoon... Well if you have read mirage from the start i could almost understand that...

This link is featured on the main page of this website under News/Updates, but I will add the link here, as well.

I still can't believe what this guy did. Just who does he think he is?

Perhaps...

In his first two questions, he asks if Splinter starts out as a rat and if Oroku Nagi appears (without the obnoxious comments), so I take it he likes the Mirage origin story better.

Now perhaps this is a bit harsh, but I can't understand how anybody would think the Mirage origin story is better than the cartoon origin story.

First, the idea of a tiny rat emulating his human owner's ninja training is lame. (Yes, it was intended to spoof the Marvel Comics--X-Men and Stick from Daredevil Ninja, but now that TMNT is capable of being taken seriously, I think it should stick with the slightly more sensible origin.)

Second, introducing Oroku Nagi and Tang Shen turns the Turtles into just another link in a chain of violent grudges--Nagi assaulted Tang Shen, so Hamato Yoshi killed Nagi, so Saki killed Yoshi, so Splinter sends the Turtles to defeat Saki (never mind that the Turtles have no meaningful connection with Yoshi at all). In the cartoon, the Turtles can go after Saki with a little more moral clarity--they're going to defeat him and make him turn Splinter back into Yoshi. Simpler is better in this case.

I can understand some of his other complaints though--the Turtles could whale on the robotic Foot Soldiers with impunity but had to use lame slapstick gags on Bebop, Rocksteady and Shredder. (Of course, there was the first episode when Raphael sticks his sai through a Foot Soldier *before* he finds out it's a robot, and later he extorts information from Baxter by pressing the tip of his sai against Baxter's chin while uttering the classic line "you'd better [talk], or else I'm going to get...sarcastic.")

Yeah, I agree that some of those questions should've been worded differently. A good interviewer is one who is unbiased...

Dan Berger is a very nice guy, and I was lucky to exchange a few e-mails with him a while back. Thank goodness he's the official TMNT "Web Dude"! :D

Well I will never think the cartoon origin better... It was made that way only because the original origin was way too violent for kiddies cartoon...

Indeed... Hopefully the Mirage origin story will be animated in all its glory. I can't wait to see it!

OH, to see the story come alive, would be something so great, they dont have a word in the dictionary for it yet! :thyper:

My lil question is, will the guys have become teenagers instantly like in the original series, or will they a have a real childhood? I'd love to see them do little flashbacks and stuff... :D

I enjoy the occassional TMNT childhood story. I wouldn't mind seeing a little in the cartoon.

Well actually turning splinter human again was the purpose of getting shredder up to episode 15. In episode 15 the tmnt help Splinter temporarily become human and Splinter hates it so the main reason they go after Shredder after that is so he doesn't conquer the world. Still I think they're basing it too much on the comics and not enough on the original cartoon. No offense to those who think otherwise. I really liked Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady. Krang always had the best lines and it was funny watching him yell at Shredder at the time telling him he's incompitent. Still I think it should be a blend that makes it better than either ever was. Now personally, I don't like Baxter and don't think he should get a major part in the new cartoon. He's good in the cartoon as a human sometimes but I just don't think he's the kind of character to replace Krang. I mean Bebop and Rocksteady I could live without but Krang is an important character.

The cartoons (original) are over, its time to tell the story a bit differently. Noone has seen the oginial story animated, and now its our time. Im not a fan of the original cartoon, but to those who are, thats cool, just not my cup of tea ("You know I hate tea, Leo.") Now we get out turn mwhahahahahahaha!!!!!

Hell, even the comic is too tame...if Oroku Nagi beat Tang Shen that one night, she might well have been raped as well...
