In the first season, Vernon was actually a reasonable person (trying to convince April that staking out a Foot Clan robbery was a dangerous idea, for example). I don't know why the writers decided that they had to make him April's whiny, jealous, cowardly, backstabbing rival in later seasons.

1 - See, it's still April's fault the lenscap was on the camera. She had a psycological mind link to her camera and she telepathically put the lens cap back on.

IIRC, when Vernon was filming the Rat King and Leatherhead running back to the RK's lair, he *didn't* have the lens cap on. I'll have to double check my tape (just watched it the other day) and get a screen pic to prove that April's out to ruin his reporting career.

2 - Vernon was taking the initiative to find a good news story while April just whined along with the Neutrinos. The Di-X atmosphere must of done something to his news footage and reversed it :evilgrin: Vernon can do no wrong!

No I can't screw Vernon, the "King of FOGU" would get quite upset with me :goofygri:

Vernon was pretty reasonable in the first season but I like to think something major happened to him that changed him. I think all the major havoc shredder was causing in season one and April talking about turltes and such started to spook him. I think that there is a part the writers didn't show where he was emotionally tortured by shredder or someone working for shredder and it scared him so much that he became a whiny coward permanently.

I thought Vernon was one of the more interesting characters of the show. Whenever the writers needed comedy relief, they could always depend on him.

Another funny Vernon moment came in "Donatello's Degree." Vernon gets scared out of his wits by some fish, April has to get him out of the lake, and he gets propelled back into the news van. April asks him if there is anything she can do for him, and he replies, "I think I may need mouth-to-mouth resuscitation."

(Oh, he's a sly one, that Vernon. :wink: )

Anyway, April goes, "Whatever you say, Vernon" and she gets this really ugly fish and plants its lips onto Vernon's. The look on Vernon's face when he think April is really kissing him is priceless. Then he realizes it's the fish and goes bananas. :lol:

Anyone hear Vernon's voice in Michelangelo meets bugman again? It's the only time vernon has an alternative and man does he sound terrible. Vernon wore a pink shirt. (And with a purple tie at that! Ugh.) The only time a man can be excused for wearing pink is if he's taking part in a Run For Life marathon. Vernon just wouldn't fit into the new cartoon, his goofy antics doesn't fit in with the new cartoon feel. He's not my fav or least fav character, but he did serve a purpose in the original cartoon. It would've been SO funny though if they put him in the movie(think of him replacing Charles Pennington in the first movie), and make him this really camp character who would be smug, then trip up hilariously. His character could've worked in the movies, but some would that would take away the dark edge off the films.
