Hello! I've been lurking here a while now, and I finally built up the courage to come out and say "hello" to all you people I've been watching. I need a place where I can discuss the Turtles lest I burn all my friends out, so where better to come but where no one EVER gets burnt out talking about them? :trazz:
A little about me and my history with TMNT...I'm 22 now, and was huge into the turtles from about when I was 7 to 12 years old. I collected whatever comics I could find and pay for with my meager allowance (Mirage and Archie; always bought them when I was sick and went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription), had a few figures (Samurai and Mutating Leonardo), watched the cartoon and movies incessantly, role-played them with the future popular girls of my school at recess (good black mail material for prom queens), and I even wore a Leonardo (wonder who my favorite was?) costume on Halloween my parents constructed that I recall really, really hurt my back.
When their popularity died down during the mid-to-late-90s, I got into other obsessions to the point that I completely missed the 3rd movie (although I picked up issue 2 of the new Mirage TMNT comic before leaving for a year-long trip to Japan in 2002), but a few months ago I picked up vol. 6 of the new TV series on DVD, and it brought me back into the fandom full force. I love how it follows the comic more closely (and with a few updates for modern viewers), although the new theme song still makes my ear bleed. I relish the character development, so I really can't proclaim a favorite out of the new cartoon and original comic series. There are so many admirable qualities about each of them…Leonardo’s idealism and dedication, Raphael’s passionate spirit and self-reliance, Mikey’s creativity and cuteness, and Don’s brilliance and wit, of course. I still adore the goofy old cartoon too, so of course I’m getting it on DVD when it comes out (love Cam Clarke). :thyper:
Anyway, enough about me. I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and perhaps sharing a few nifty things I’ve come across (and if I can work up the nerve, some of my drawings), and paying my respect to some of the people on here I’ve admired from a distance for some time.
