In the Image series the TMNT suffer alot of mutilations. Raph gets the side of his face blasted off, losing his eye, so he wears Casey's mask to cover up. He eventually becomes the Shredder and leads their clan.
Don falls from a helicopter and breaks his shell. He fuses witha nearby android and becomes a cyborg. The cyborg side was trying to take over his mind so he went evil for a few issues till he got it under control.
Leo eventually loses a hand, so I guess he still had it in that issue.

Don was actually on the brink of death when that cyborg thing fused with him. Basically speaking, being a cyborg saved Don's life at the moment.

After thinking long and hard, i think donnie would of been able to fix himself back to his normal body and get rid of the cyborg and fix Raphs eye. ALso stitch back Leo's hand.. Oh well. hmm that still didnt awnser my question about a turtle living with out a shell. Can it or no? That would be intreasting to see them with out a shell.

No, a turtle can not live without their shell, their ribs are fused to it. The carapace, bridges and plastron make up their body.

The shell of a turtle is part of its skeletal system. In other words, it is outer bone that grows from their inner bones. No turtle can live without the shell, and they do not shed their shells as they grow. If the turtle has lost any of its shell, it is a serious situation that needs to be professionally treated.

Actually, they shed the upper layer of their scutes, they dont shed the actual shell. Just the scales(scutes).

I got really lucky. I got 50 TMNT comics off ebay for like $26, and 22 issues of them were volume 3 (the rest were volume 1). A good place to order back issues is www.milehighcomics.com . I was missing issue #5 of volume 3 and I got it there for $1.20.

I dunno. Don's never been a doctor. e's good with electronics (hence he adapted quickly to being a cyborg), but I doubt he'd be able to perform laser surgery on Raph's flayed and scarred face, or replace an eyeball that had been burned so badly it no longer worked.
As for Leo's hand, King Komodo ate it! Kind of hard to just sew it back on... not to mention there's complicated nerve endings that ned to be repaired. I think you're giving Don a bit too much credit there.
>>How did this comic series end?>>
Raph was double crossed by his loyal followers in the Foot Clan, and was challeneged by Oroku Pimiko (Shredder's daughter) to single combat for leadership of the Foot. Neither won the fight, tho, because Lady Shredder (it was never revealed who she was) comes in, and takes control of the Foot. The Turtles come to Raph's rescue, and persuade Pimiko to return with them to the sewers...
The whole series takes place over the span of one year in the Turtles' lives, from their 18th birthday in Issue #1 to their 19th in Issue #23.
I wrote up a complete sum-up of the series in another thread, if you're curious about it.

Welll.....
Image had some really wacky, far-out ideas. But I really liked the series.
In some ways, it portrayed the character far better than the current series does.
However, I must add the caveatte that Laird is consistently getting better, story-wise, with each and every issue. It is very progressive, organic, and "evolutionary" in nature. Very interesting.
We'll see. But Image remains close to mine heart. :P

How and why did Raph become the leader of the foot?
Was there some fight between the turtles to make him change sides or did he just go crazy(possibly related to him getting blasted in the face)?
Did he have to fight someone to become the leader of the foot? Is there any reason that the foot trusted him?

Well, it's kind of a long story. See, the Foot somehow found out that Shadow was the daughter of a mob boss, kidnapped her, and made the mob boss pay to get her back. After Raph found her, and Mike rescued her, the mob took revenge on the Foot for double crossing them. Raph just happened to be talking with the Foot council when the mob broke in and gunned pretty much everyone down. Raph managed to stumble upon Shredder's hidden room, where several suits of armor were stored. He stole one, and proceeded to butcher the mob goons, sending one to give a message to his boss.
A few remaining Foot came out of hiding, claiming Raph had dishonored their master by wearing his armor or something. Raph called them dishonorable, as they hid when their fellow ninja were killed, and told them that they should kill themselves. They were all ready to when one asked, "Will you not lead us?"
And to his own surprise, Raph answered, "Yes."
This might be a little off, since I just put my books back into storage yesterday, and I don't feel like dragging them back out. But it's quite fitting, since in Mirage Vol. 1, when the Turtles went back to ancient Japan, Raphael befriended two masterless Samurai, who later, after the Turtles had left, decided to start the Foot Clan. Gotta love that.

Did Raph lead the foot soilders against the turtles alot or did he fight against the turtles at all?
When they rescued Raph did they take him back into the group with no questions asked?
I never read any of these comic books but some of the storyline seems pretty interesting.
Did Raph lead the foot soilders against the turtles alot or did he fight against the turtles at all?
When they rescued Raph did they take him back into the group with no questions asked?
Well, Raph kinda "neglected" to tell his family that he had taken up the Shredder name and armor. So when the Turtles learned that "The Shredder" was back, they went to investigate, and attacked. But when Raph revealed who he was, the fighting stopped, but Raph became more and more dependant on *his* Foot Clan, and pushed his family out of his life.
But when the Foot betrayed him, yeah, he was taken back into his family. Though that's where the story ends, so we have no way of knowing how it effected things long-term.
With all the "bad" stuff Image did in their run, I really think this storyline had the most potential. Even most of the people who hated Image liked this idea.

He tried a robotic hand, but refused to use any of Don's bio-armor. So he gave up on the hand and went for a simple cap. That somehow housed a blade. (I don't know how either.)

i have about half the series but i really didnt like the story it was okay but nothing compared to vol 1 :D
"Was it ever confirmed who Pimiko's real parents were?"
No. The only "proof" we had was Pimiko's word that she was Oroku Saki's daughter. Though no one really cared to make her to prove it.
"What's the story with her and Shredder(suppose to be related father/daughter)?"
She says she's his daughter. I don't have all the issues, and unfortunately, most of the ones I'm missing are from the beginning of the series when all of that would have been discussed.
"Did they give any backround information about Lady Shredder or did she just show up at the end?"
No background. Though in the last issue, she said something to Leo about him not recognizing her. So it's someone from their past. The only person who fits all the clues is Karai, who had been said to be "missing" in an earlier issue after she was stripped of her command for some reason we were not told. I remember reading somewhere that confirmed that Lady Shredder was going to be revealed as Karai, but I can't remember where.

Yes, they are. April and Casey are now married, and about to have a kid. Shadow lives with Splinter in North Hampton. The Utroms have returned and made their presence on earth known to all man-kind. Raphael got attacked by vampires. Michelangelo is a tour guide for alien races visiting earth. Don is helping the Utroms find out what happened to one of their space ships in South America, and Leo is helping the foot clan... lots of stuff going on.

You can order the new comics and a lot of old ones directly from Mirage. Go to the official website, www.ninjaturtles.com and then click on Buy Stuff in the menu on the left. You should find more info there.
The only thing I felt sucked about the Image series was Splinter turning into a bat. That was really f-ing stupid. Other than that, it gave the turtles an edgier and more aggressive style which I enjoyed.
Unfortunately, I stopped at issue 7 because my comic book store wouldn't carry it anymore. :x
I intend on getting the remaining 16.
I also agree that the artwork (I think it was done by Frank Carlson?) is better than Jim Lawson's. But Jim has been with the turtles for years and his background artwork is phenomenal.

what issue was he in :-?
The very first issue of The Image series we See Leatherhead in is #17and he's being held captive by lord Komodo.
I actully have 2 copies of that issue so if anyone wants it message me and we can figure something out...
then he's in #18 Komodo Bights leonardo's hand off...and then we find out it was the komodo lizard that got mutated and not lord komodo attacking leonardo..then leonardo brak leatherhead free and then komodo controlls leatherheads mind and he attacks leo but leo doesnt want to hurt him..and he sticks his scabbards in leatherheads mouth...and then he strangles leatherhead with the bandage that was wrapped around his eaten hand.
Komodo is about to shoot leo and leatherhead and casey and mike come to save the day ^_^
Komodo has dived into the water and hasn't been seen since...and leatherhead is fine or so we think....
Issue #19
leatherhead is in this issue as well....he takes the turtles back to his home...and shows them the new transmat he and a utrom friend that were left behind were building...so they go and finish it up and test the sucker out and damn it what happens! a freaking triceraton come through it!!
so there all attacking him...he throws mikey against a wall...he's about to shoot him..when leatherhead freaks out about the transmat being destroid by this jerk and saves mike in the process...then leo grabs the triceraton blaster and blasts at the triceraton killing him....but this is not the end of there troubles...4 more triceraton goons come through the damn transmat!
with more coming through every minute!
Leonardo grabs dr.x with his bad arm...shooting at the triceratons....keeping dr.x (the utrom) safe...leo throws dr. x to mike...and the turtles, leatherhead, & dr. x all make a break for it and dive into the nasty sewer water...
1 dumb triceraton jumps into the water and dies in it...as the other koff as they do on our planet...they now go back to leatherheads home and try and fix the transmat (the triceratons) and they beem one of them into zogs hover craft wich donatello just happens to be ridding in...he and sara are in for a huge suprise...
Issue #20
leatherhead begins to lose his patients and his human like mind :(
he gets sick of waiting to go back home so he flips out and strangles mikey...so casey smacks him over the head with one of his bats...
and Dr. X reminds leatherhead about why they must stop the triceratons because if they destroy earth the utrom home world will be next telling him how (as many comics and fans seem to forget) they are there sworn enimies...
and mike then tells us why leatherhead is acting the way he is (because dr. x told him) the mutagen in him is wearing off :(
casey then asks well if it's happening to him what about...and as he's about to ask 4 more triceratons beam in
issue #21
Leatherhead casey and mike keep on battling the triceratons..
when who shows up Shredder raph and his foot shooting arrows into the backs of the triceratons.. with some very nice spreed sheet art might I add that we don't see in the new series at all and I miss it...
many triceratons and many foot have died in this battle...
mikey smacks the transmat with his chucks...causing them to shut down but causing him to get shocked as well...he is ok though just a bit rattled...
at the end of the battle Raph hold up a triceraton head in the memory of the 3 dead foot soldiers.
then all of a sudden a triceraton & sara are beemed into the transmat the same one that was fighting sara and donatello in the museum..
then leonardo goes and attacks him and he goes thats no way to treat a lady and the triceraton goes well then you won't apricate what I do to cripples...then! leatherhead freaking flips out and bights the triceraton to death ripping him apeart.. mind you they are fighting on the transmat...
the triceraton transported back to his ship...
taking leatherhead with him :(
and then the series ended 2 issues latter so we never knew what happend to old leatherhead..
*sigh*
well I just wanted to give you all a brief run down on the issues he was in.
