Aren't these just the US release of the tmnt anime characters or did they appear somewhere else in the tmnt universe?

Yes, they are just Japanese characters released here. Strangly enough though, they didn't just release the Japanese figures here. The figures were slightly different. Specificly the shoulders were different at least in the figures I have.

They released those toys already before. They did Ninja action and you put the line on the arm in between two yellow lines on the shoulder and pushed it to the side with the springs and it did a ninja move. Don did a cart wheel Leo did a backflip I dont remember what Raph did I think something like a jump attack and I didnt have Mikey I could never find one the site says he does boxer stuff

Thanks for the info. That is a bit odd that they would alter the figures.

Slight confusion here. The original question was regarding the Mutant Master line from the original line not the new release of the ninja action figures.

I wish they'd re-release these, I want'em. I had the mikey one, and my friends picked me up a bare donny one. Cool figures.
you could turn their armor in to some super weapon type thing, but i could never get mikey's armor to do it... lol.

The coolest thing about this line was that at the time they came out I remember getting a call from a woman at playmates toys! omg I was so shocked and thought my mom was kidding I think I was maby 16 at the time I had written them a letter telling them what a huge fan of the turtles I was and I had every figure still in the boxes stored away from the beggin of the line till this very moment and she was just so awsome asking me all these questions and tell me how awsome it was that people enjoyed there line so much.
So guess what she did She sent me a Mutant Masters Mike from her office!!!
I still have it to this very day...so how cool is that guys the people at playmates really do care about you and what you have to say to them even if they don't answere your questions. I mean look at what we did by bugging them so much for baxter we are going to get him now.

Yup. Playmates is awesome. And they even know most of us don't like the variant figures  . Oh well, they gotta make a living somehow, right?
Plus the various times people have lots parts to a figure and they've sent them replacements. I think even one time they sent someone a new Splinter because the tail broke off.

wow, the prices for these on eBay are crazy. I'm glad I kept mine. I just finally excavated the crate with my TMNT...and i was shocked that i got rid of so much TMNT stuff.
