Do you people think this trend will continue?

I think it's a general toy trend right now. Some of the new Rainbow Brite dolls and the Muppet Babies dolls both come with DVDs. Some of the Care Bears are coming with VHS tapes right now and there were some He-Man figures that came with VHS tapes. The DVDs are likely cheaper to produce and fit nicely into the package. It's a great additional selling point for the toys and at the same time acts as free advertising for the tv show. Quite the win/win situation.

From what I understand, it's a Wal-Mart only sort of deal. I could be wrong, but that's what it seems to be. Since Mattel did the special packs of Batman figures w/ Comics from Wal-Mart. So it's likely only a limited time deal. And from the reports of Wal-Marts still getting in the basic cases, doesn't mean they won't continue to get the 'Basic non-DVD' releases. :)

Holy cow I just noticed something
the back of the DVD package, on the red, has Sais, and on the blue, Kitanas.....
makes me think a purple and orange are in the horizon
are they going to rerelease the original turtles AGAIN?
Also the red band across the package saying bonus dvd is for figures with the blue dvd and the blue band for red dvd

Yeah... another rerelease of the basic four... The DVD'S don't sound like they could put too much more into a price tag... I mean, DVD's come in cereal boxes now. Almost bought Total for a King of Queens DVD...
I guess the free DVD's will get some milage out of the rererereleased classic four....

Mattel did Wal-Mart exclusive Masters of the Universe figures with VHS tapes attached. Some were episodes from the old 1983 series and some were episodes from the newer 2002 series. These tapes were just shrink-wrapped onto the figures, though... this is some decent packaging done here. What we might get to look forward to is some original material... the last "Wal-Mart" exclusive video we got was a Season 1 recap assembled by the folks who produced the MOTU cartoon for Cartoon Network. This was neat because it included sneak peeks into never-before-seen episodes. Let's hope something like that happens with TMNT.
