Any information would be helpful.

Well, in the Mirage comics, they didn't have the Guardians, I don't recall those hover discs, and of course, there was no "evil Utrom", but they're pretty much the same. An intelligent, peaceful race stranded on Earth, trying to get home. Though in the comics, they were only on Earth for around twenty years, as opposed to one thousand.

In the show most of the utroms look alike except for the one yellow one and the Shredder utrom. Do they look exactly alike in the comics?

Yes, they are all identical in the comics. And they're all pink. They do work at TCRI, but as far as the public and the government are concerned; TCRI is only a myth. In other words, it's not a technology company nor a chemical facility. No one knows TCRI exists. The Utroms do have those exo suits from the TV Show. And before you ask, no, Shredder was not a Utrom in the original comics. He was very much a man, this is who Shredder really is. (http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian/muses/353/shred.html)

Besides that, they didn't try to model their exosuits on any specific humans-they just had humanoid-esque exoskeletons.

Incorrect, BB. There wer e afew flashbacks in #7 that showed the Utroms wearing false skins over their exo-skeletal suits. TCRI waste disposal trucks were driven around NY as well, and those drivers needed to look human.

>>Yes, they are all identical in the comics. And they're all pink.>>

Well, I think those're both unfair statements. The comic was in black and white. The only Utroms we saw were on the cover. Who's to say that there's no yellow or brown, or neon green Utroms in the comic continuity. It's just that in a black and white book, color's not a big concern. especially when you're an Indie book, still trying to get it's audience to buy into giant turtles that know ninjitsu.

Yeah, they did wear false skin in the comics, they needed to pose as humans not only to disguise themselves but also to get jobs so they could raise enough money to build the TCRI building. Or something like that, anyway, my memory fails me.

And in the colored reprints by First Publishing, the Utroms shown were pink/grey-ish. But I'm sure there are a few with a different colored skintone, just like humans don't all have the same skintone.

And, Jarrah, I don't think that link you posted is who Shredder really is, since it's a fanfic (A very cool fanfic, I agree, but still a fanfic.)...But let's not stray off-topic.

It is not a fan fic. It's a Shredder biography from Ninja Turtles Empire.

Ninja Turtles Empire states that the Image comics in in continunity, when every true fan knows that volume was total s*it and has been ousted by Laird, though I do agree with the MIRAGE segments of the biography.

Yea it's total sh1t that's why Laird and Eastman had control over it....
Image was better then the crap we are getting now besides tales which has one issue so far soon to be 2 and that book is already better then the normal turtles books and I'm being honest because I actually like them but I consider image to be better then the current series.
I also guess I'm not a true fan because I like everything TMNT I'd think that makes me more of one if not just as good as anyone else for liking everything thrown at me you don't ever seem like very much of a turtle fan to me man because all I ever see you do and offer to this message board is bitching in threads started by people you don't like. I'd really like to see you contribute something besides next abortion comments or and bashing members who happen to like something you find stupid and repulsive.
Many people don't like the Utrom shredder thing but yet you tell them to shut up......you really need to think about what you do before you do it my friend because you come off as such a mean person and I don't really think you are but I could be wrong in my judge of character.

Well that's your humble opinion..I for one am appreciating Volume Four.

Since you like Image I could very well say the same thing...but I won't, because I was in a bad mood when I made the last post and it was pretty uncalled for

I only tell them to shut up because there producing MILLIONS OF THREADS about it, not to mention certain other people (cough Jarrah cough) have constant problems with people who DON'T have a problem with the Utrom Shredder

Ah yes, you're right.

When I clicked the link, the page didn't load for me, and I could only see the title of the page on the top of the browser window...I could've sworn the title of that page was the title of one of the Shredder fan fics on that site, and I assumed it was since I've seen Jarrah post links to those fan fics before in the past, I assumed he was bringing it up again. :)

Now that it loads I can see you're right, I apparantly had the wrong page in mind.

My apologies for the mix-up.

Awwwwww crap!

I owe an apology then. I'm thinking primarily from a small black-and-white panel from NT Empire and the scans from the official site. Thanks for the corrections. ^^;

Ok, I'm gonna have to come to Andrew Modeen's defense here.

He wrote up those profiles YEARS before Volume 4 ever came out, and Laird up and declared the Image series "heretical" (if you'll pardon the pun).

While the Image series was running, it was indeed supported by Mirage (i.e., Eastman and Laird) and was considered official continuity at the time.

The NT Empire has not been updated for a long, long time... and that goes for the profiles, too.

Before people start labelling others' work as "****", try and get your facts straight.

A few more comic Utrom questions.
Since a lot of posts were deleted, I never saw if anyone answered these.

What was their origin in the comics?

Are they in fact basically talking brains or do they just have a brain like body mass? I'm guessing that their body(atleast outer part of their body) is made out of a stronger material than brain tissue.

And I had these answered too... :p

Anyway, in the Mirage comics, Utroms are an advanced, benevolent alien race who happened to crash land here on Earth a few decades ago. They disguised themselves as humans and eventually built TCRI to hide themselves while they developed a way home.

I imagine that a very large percentage of their body mass is devoted to their brains. They probably evolved beyond the need for large bodies, since their race seems so technologically advanced. Or maybe they evolved the technology to aid them with their lack of a strong body.

I kinda wish that Utrom society and history would be explored a little more fully in the new Mirage books.

>>Are they in fact basically talking brains or do they just have a brain like body mass?>>

They're not brains. All indications are that they are an aquatic lifeform, so think more like a squid, or a jellyfish than a brain.

In Vol 4, one of them takes a dip in the East River (or the Hudson, I forget), and swims like a pro. He also makes a number of comments on water, making it seem as if that's where he belongs.

Krang is a semi-anthropomorphic brain, and like it's been said a thousand times over, he is only loosely based on the concept of the Utroms from the comic. The Utroms themselves *are not brains*, nor has any incarnation of them ever *looked* like a brain. Pink and squishy, yes, but like an actual brain (like Krang), sorry, but no ;)

Thanks Kali and Straight-Edge.

Do they ever show them eat anything in the comics?

Do they have any kind of powers/advantages other than their advanced technology?

Also are they good or evil in the comics?

Kali

I was not aware of the swimming thing, since I'm not really caught up on Vol. 4 comics. Very cool development.

"Do they ever show them eat anything in the comics?"
Drinking, they do, as in an above image. Don't think I ever saw one eating solid foods.

"Do they have any kind of powers/advantages other than their advanced technology?"
Not that I've noticed. Unless you count advanced intelligence.

"Also are they good or evil in the comics?"
Good and evil are in the eye of the beholder, my dear boy. But I think that basically, they are good, or at least neutral. They aren't out to conquer the universe like Triceratons, and they seem to simply want to explore and discover and share the universe in peace. But like I said, eye of the beholder...

I meant the general consensus about good and evil. Most people have veiws on what is good and bad(or moral/ethical) even though they aren't factual. Most if not all of what is considered moral or ethical is opinion or something that is learned. To avoid any negative posts or anyone bringing up religion I'll just say what is written above is my opinion and leave it at that.

I guess what I really meant originally is that do the utroms fight with or against the turtles?

Well, on their first encounter, the Turtles had broken into their facility, and basically "attacked" TCRI. So the Utroms were forced to fight them to defend themselves. However, when things were cleared up, they ended up allies.

Yeah, and they also attacked the soldiers that tried to enter the building.
But I'm pretty sure it was said somewhere that the Utroms only used stun beams; they had no intention of harming anyone.

I need to read these comics again sometime...

Anyway, the Utroms are good guys, definately. :)

One of the pictures further up in the thread showed a few drinking something.

Also, from what little of that part of the series that I've read, they're all pretty good guys.

Good questions. No, I don't beleive I have ever seen them eat in any of there appearances in the comic books. Because of there lack of a big body, they most likely don't have much of a stomach and digestive system. So it's asumed they get there nutrients from liquids since it's easy to digest. As for them having any powers... that's still yet to be seen. If any thing, we can asume they might have psionic abillities. They are probably much like people when it comes to moral alignment... some good, some bad. From what we've seen in the new TMNT series, there are some bad Utroms. P.S. Krang is not an Utrom. I think him and his people might be mutants of some sort. His evolution is certainly not natural (he's a big talking brain!). :khappy:

Yeah... it's a great Utrom, but it looks like an amalgamation of and Utrom and krang (because of those two large tenticles in front).

I'd say the Utroms were "Neutral" in the comics, and they just didn't want to be bothered. plus, I think they crash landed much later (20 years ago, in the comics, I believe) than the show, and I don't think any were mentioned by name. Hope this helps.
