I'll go check out the avatar hack for phpBB 1.x. If it involves too much editing, I'll just wait for 2.x to be released, since it's a normal feature there.

Good news, I found an avatar hack that shouldn't be too complicated to install, so I'll be adding avatars soon.

The avatar hack has been installed. To edit your avatar, click "Edit Profile" at the top. If you see any errors on any of the forum pages, let me know.

What's the size of the avatars? I wanna know before I put mine up.

The avatars are displayed as 70 x 70 pixels, but they don't have to be that exact size, just as long as they're close.

Ok, I disabled avatars for now because not too many people are using them and the avatar script has a few bugs in it. If I do enable avatars again on this board, I will use a different hack that is more stable.

I was just wondering what the status was for having avatars? I know this thread is old, but I'm curious if you're still planning to include avatars sometime soon. Kali made a really cool doll that looks just like me (honest!), and I'd love to use it as an avatar. I know you two are busy, so take your time in responding. Thanks for any info. in advance! Oh, and I can't wait to see what the site-related surprise is....

Well, I did install an avatar hack back in December, but almost nobody used it, so I took it down. When phpBB2 is released, it will include avatar support, so everyone will be able to use avatars when we upgrade. Right now phpBB2 is in beta (RC-2), but I want to wait until the final version is released before upgrading.

The problem is, nobody knows, not even the developers... RC-3 should be out in about a week, and then the next version after that will be the final version (which I will upgrade this forum to).
