Well today is the day everyone has been waiting for. This morning, I walked to walmart first and they had the vhs verison of season 1 and it contains all 5 episodes. The dvd version wasn't there yet. I went over to HMV and they had the dvd for a cheap price of 19.99. i guess it a sale or something. (I live in canada). As soon I got to work, I took off the seal and there was this box thingy instead of the dvd, so I tore open the side of it and opened it and there was a dvd cover.

Why was this a box? It's cool though. I haven't watched it yet but I will when I get home or after I eat lunch or something.

It may be in a box (aka slip case) because 1) it looks cool, 2) lots of TV shows that have multiple seaons released are in cool boxes or slip cases.

I haven't watched mine yet either. Maybe tonight if I get enough studying done.

Well, I've just finished watching the original 5 episodes. The video quality wasn't exactly perfect, but it was better then the tapes, with just some scratches on the film, but I suspect that's the actual negative and not the transfer. The colours were vibrant though, and sound was pretty good.

The episodes were as good as when I last saw them :)

I would have liked a few more extra's, like maybe an interview with Laird, but I can deal with just 4 extra episodes.

DVD transfer: 4/5
Episodes: 5/5

Best buiy had them for.... you'll kick yourself for going to HMV... $10.99....

Now, I didn't get the DVD, AS I'm strapped at the moment, and I'm gonna have to wait till my birthday. But the cover looked very very good.

I just watched one of the season 10 episodes, and, it was pretty good! I may actually have to stop being lazy and watch the rest of my red sky episodes :)

EDIT: I thought Dregg's voice seemed familiar, so I looked it up, Turns out he was the Elder God in the Soul Reaver games. Cool :)

Are you serious that Best Buy had the dvd for 10.99? Cause I was just at the mall and looked in four different retailers and they all had it for 19.99 which is what I paid for it at HMV aswell. Or are you in the U.S, cause I'm in canada. Weird thing though that walmart only had the VHS version!

I live in Canada too. I got it at hmv like you did. I guess the walmart people didn't get their dvd yet. Oh well. I got my dvd so I am happy! My friend only has a vcr so the vhs will be good for him.

Sorry... hehe hehh.... must cost more there for some reason... maybe becauser of the international monitary system....

I was pretty much panicing because I could not find the thing, but then I found several copies on a large case, yet to be put away. 10.99 is a great price, but I swear... 5.08? I paid more for an old FHE video I had to return than that. Great job.

I got over to Best Buy at 11am and flipped when it was only 11 bucks I was figuering 15-17 since all sites said 15. I watched the first three episodes and stopped, my brother wanted to watch them to so I can wait till he gets back. Even though I have seen these episodes a million times it is still great. They put those lyrics from the new show on the back so it can be like a "before there was the new, there was the old" kind of thing.

Got mine today at Wal-Mart. THe lady who worked there had to go into the back and get the case since they did not put the DVD on the Shelf yet. Anyway it was only $9.44 !!! and they only got in 8 copies! I got one and two workers said they were gonna buy a copy too. So my Wal-Mart only has 5 copies left when I left the store. Mind you, this was at 9 a.m. this morning.

Picked up the 1987 season 1 DVD today as well as DVDs 7 and 8 of the 2003 series at Wal-Mart. Spent $41 something which wasn't bad. The season 1 DVD was only $9.44 and the other 2 being right under $15 each. I watched the season 1 DVD right when I got home and like our friend said previously, the quality was a little lower than expected. Especially with the intro. It seems that was taken from another source. It's still great quality though, better than VHS. The 4 bonus episodes are crystal clear, though. But, it's great to have them. I'll rip the opening and closing theme from the red sky episodes for everyone later tonight. How's that?

i bought the tmnt dvd at walmart this afternon for 9.99 i rock. the quality is ok, i thought it would be better but it is still good. the menue could use like a theme song or something but hey, at least there out on dvd!

04-20-2004, 06:55 PM
I bought the DVD today at my wal-mart, in plymouth NH. IT was $10. They only had 4 or 5.

I had waited baited breath to buy this. I watched Enter the Shredder because HAve Eps 1,3,4 and 5 on tape. It was worth it because I have Eps 1,3,4,5 on a recording tape, which is 14.5 years old and may become obsolite. I had not seen enter the shredder for countless years. It was funny when Shredder said you idoits when they bumped into each other.

I watched only 1 bonus ep because I dont' want to be up too late. I watched beginning of the end. This was the first time I saw an ep from the red sky years. The theme song's voice was different and had scenes intercut with the 1st movie and showed sences of someone who looked like rat king, raph throwing raph into the air and shredder pointing to krang(in bubble walker), bebop and rocksteady and them running. When I saw this, The dregg eps were worlds apart from the eps I used to watch with different backround music, no shredder and more competitant villians etc.

I loved the DVD. I HOPE THEY MAKE SEASON 2 DVD. BECAUSE MY RECORDINGS OF SEASON 2 are about to become obsolite. MY return of the technodrome ep is bad here and there in parts because it can have the screen have something go through and turn blue for a sec. They will probably release all the otehr eps if this does well. IT HAD BETTER. I want to have the rest of the eps.

How did you all like the DVD. I am glad they did not have the EPic begins that they first aired because I heard that they cut out thing about rats and cut out 5 minutes of each ep.

I just ordered the DVD from Amazon, cost $8.34 plus tax.

I notice under the description, it says best seller, which seems surprising for it to be title best seller in one day.

It should come in the mail by the weekend. I'll let you all know what I think of the episodes.

Yeah, I know what you mean. After watching the new tv series it's hard to tolerate the old one. The old TMNT pretty relies on nostalgic value with me, otherwsie it's sh*t.

The miniseries was decent, and I'm glad it's on DVD since it's the only season of the old series I'd willingly spend money on.

Could the stupid "The original was s*it" comments be dropped from this bloody thread?

It's offending fans who APPRECIATE the series, I've still got the original five episodes of the cartoon on video and they STIL Lhold up with the new cartoon.

BOTH are very well-written shows and are both equally good, I can't stand it when fans have to ALWAYS say "the new cartoon RULES better than this, the original SUX compared to it" when they don't have to say that at all.

The thing I was confused about was the cover. If you look on the back cover, there is a picture of Splinter fighting a tentacle of one of Shredder's robots. It looks like that picture should wrap around to the front, but it doesn't. I think they originally planned for a big action-packed cover picture that showed the Turtles fighting, but then decided to tone it down and give us that cutsy cover to keep parents happy. I don't really like that front cover that much and would have preferred a more action-oriented cover picture.

I also thought it was weird that there are episodes 1-5 and then it jumps to almost episode 190. I know they are supposedly lost episodes, but I think such a drasitc jump in the timeframe of the series would be confusing to casual viewers.

Overall, I'm really pleased that I bought the DVD. It's great to finally have some classic Turtle episodes on DVD, especially since it was only $9.44 at Wal-Mart. I hope they end up releasing other seasons on DVD as well, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Didn't realize how many threads there were on this, so I'll just copy & paste to here:

*sings*
I found a blooper!

In the bonus never-seen episode The Day The Earth Disappeared (?), there's a scene where Leo and Donny are being attacked by the earth. Then Leo turns into Raph for a while (not just color, but belt initial as well), but he has katanas and the same voice.

Also, in the never-seen episodes, the first and second episodes (187 & 188, I believe) appear to be reversed. O.o

Anyway, talk about a retro-trip . (Anyone catch the 'Mighty Clucks' gag in the second (I think) never-seen ep? :P )

Y'know, I never realized that the first series aired when I was only four. Geez. No wonder I didn't catch (a lot of) it the first time around! (Though I do remember playing Ninja Turtles on the playground in day care, hee)

All-in-all, I'm thrilled to death.

I have to say I'm irked by all the complaints about quality (I noticed it too, but...) The so-so quality of the episodes doesn't bother me too much, mostly because they are so old (nearing 20 years!) and the film likely wasn't stored as well as, say, Disney films (this was largely pre-digital, people). And I doubt there's as much of a demand for Ninja Turtles as there is for SnowWhite, so Mirage&Surge Licensing probably doesn't have the budget to do a full restore.

And old VHS tapes/VHS Recordings/2-square-inch Realmedia rips don't give you this quality. So I'd say we're pretty darn lucky.

Anyway, I give it :tthumbsu: :tthumbsu:

The rules include the mistakes, yes. :trazz: Pizza references are so frequent that if Mikey makes them, you only have to take one shot. Also, if someone other than Mikey says "Cowabunga," you have to take two. We have to decide what exactly we want to do about the rules, though, since we want to make it to Episode 2 at least. :twink: Now to decide on the alkee-hawl...maybe Green Apple Pucker or something with Midori? Tequila? Mixed drinks? I'm all about the Gin & Tonic (with a slice of lime!), but unfortunately, that goes better with Monty Python than Turtles. Any suggestions?

My copy just came in today from Amazon. Yay, I'm so glad to have it on DVD! My friend and I watched the first 3 episodes on it this evening during dinner, and although it's been about a decade for each of us since seeing them last, we were quoting them and saying, "Oh yeah, and then this is where..." at parts we remember freaked us out when we were little. Man, I was terrified of Krang when I was a kid! And those jokes...classic! Can't wait for next weekend to play the DVD at our end of the semester bash! Viva nostalgia!

I went to Blockbuster today, and noticed something. I looked at a copy of the "Epic Begins", scoffed at it, and put it down, but when I looked at the back I noticed something. That picture of Splinter fighting the Tentacle from the back of the DVD, is on the back of the Epic Begins box. My guess is that the DVD's art was originally meant to be more like the Epic Begins box, but was changed at the last minute, and they lazily left the back cover as is.

Found another error. They use the 1989 credits at the end of Shredded and Splintered. I also noticed that Fred Wolf is in the voice cast in the 1987 credits, I wonder who's voice he did.

Man...they really should have just used the Epic Begins cover art. Maybe they couldn't because of some legal shiznit...I love the artwork from the VHS covers of the original series...that's how I got into the Turtles when I was a little kid, after seeing the tapes in a video store. I thought, "Wow, this looks pretty cool..." and I was a little disappointed that the actual animation art wasn't as good as the box art led one to believe. But what can you expect?

I just watched one of the season 10 episodes, and, it was pretty good! I may actually have to stop being lazy and watch the rest of my red sky episodes :)

EDIT: I thought Dregg's voice seemed familiar, so I looked it up, Turns out he was the Elder God in the Soul Reaver games. Cool :)

Also did Judge Claude Frodo in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".

Hi, I'm new.

I found the season set to be pretty rockin' myself. Brought back a lot of good memories. You can read my full review here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/brianonline/).

On a side note, I rather like the season ten episodes. I'd seen them already as they did air on CBS Detroit unlike in some areas. The art in these episodes is actually pretty close to the new series.

As for which series I like better? The old. With the old one, it seems the writers/producers said "Okay, we obviously can't do this the same as the comic, so let's do our own thing" and it was really good.

With the new series, it was really serious like the comic at first, but then it suddenly jumped off into cartoon land with the Garbageman, and then universe hopping with the Triceratons.

The old series was always a little wacky and thrived on it. The new series seems to try to carry this serious tone, even when they're off on wacky adventures. Not that I hate the new one mind you. I watch it regularly.

I just picked up my copy the other day and watched it last night.

Hooray and Huzzah for having the first five eps. And surprisingly enough there was some stuff in those five eps alone I don't think I've ever seen before.
Pure Joy. I can't wait for more to come out.

As for the "bonus" episodes...I have yet to muster the courage to watch them just yet.
I remember that season and I remember liking it - or at least the first couple of episodes. But those eps had my favorite VA and idol grouping up, Rob Paulsen! (Which explains why I probably can't remember past the first few eps of the last season - I must have stopped watching.)
Plus it would be somewhat helpful to know what had been going on for the rest of season 10 before we get plopped down for the final count. Not really pleased with the whole scheme of the "bonus" episodes.
On the other hand - TMNT on DVD! Yes please! Feel free to cane me if I complain anymore! :D

IT'S HERE! I waited 3 weeks and it arrived in the mail. :D

Anyway now I'm able to watch the old series anytime now. I only watched the Season 1, I'll watched the Season 10 episodes later today.

The episodes are in good quality. A few mistakes but the sound and music is like I'm watching it off of TV.

This series is where TMNT gain popularity back in the 80's & 90's. Course the show focuses more on comedy than action, since that's what all the action shows in the 80's. Death can't be mentioned in the show and sometimes they show some strange looking charaters.

Now I get to see Krang the brain everyone like. I guess he just bosses around Shredder and talk back to Shredder. I wouldn't compare him to the Utroms since now I know he's alittle unlike them.

I think there'll be a chance for Season 2 to come out. Just have to wait and see. Very interesting to watch something that took the world from storm.

I picked up my copy as soon as I seen it at Wally World. I had to have this set. I only watched the first ep to see what the quality is like. It looks like the master tapes are showing signs of aging because the quality is not up to full DVD standards, but I'm glad I have this on DVD. Any news on plans for releasing any more old Eps??

Two words.....highly recommended!! I was impressed with the sound quality and the video. I also was satisfied that the first five episodes were NOT as the 70+-minute "The Epic Begins" crap. Huge plus!!! The biggest disappointment (which really isn't that big of a deal, though should be worked with on any future releases) was the TV Closed Captioning. On my TV, there were times when the CC didn't show up..or was delayed with a few typos. I only used CC here to see if it worked properly (occasionaly, I use CC for some programs). On the PC, the captioning seemed okay. Really, though, this is a very minor issue. I certainly hope Lions Gate Films/Artisan will release more episodes.

It's about time!!!!!!!!!

Well, I got the DVD today. (Along with the Samurai Jack Season 1 DVD, WOO!)

I just watched all the episodes, and now I'm on the bonus ones, when I found something to be extremely hilarious in "The Beginning of the End".

Near the beginning of the episode, April is at her computer when she says "The Internet really makes researching stories easier."

LOL. Being this is '96, and the Internet is just taking off, I found this to be really hilarious. Also, it's almost like a freaking commercial for the internet.

Edit: Also, I'd like to note that I really like the art design of the later "season 10" episodes. It's a little edgier than the older stuff, and just looks overall better.

Edit 2: Okay. The internet seems to make quite a few cameos in this episode. lol.

Edit 3: I love that they left the "Action!" CBS bumper in front of the new episodes. More great nostalgia.

...I'm still trying to put myself up to buying the 5 DVDs of the new series that I yet to buy...I just hope I can find them when I get to it.

OK... dont know if this was mentioned elsewhere, but there are some packaging errors and episode # problems that make the continuity on this set tricky. I'm talking the "Never-Seen" episodes (Season 10). As I've never seen them, I was TOTALLY confused until I turned to www.tvtome.com for help. First off, they put "The Beginning of the End" before "The Return of Dregg". The episodes take place in reverse order, as "Return" ends with the giant monster Leo being captured and "Beginning" starts with Mega Monster Leo all caged and stuff.
Also, the insert card has "The Return of Dregg" as episode 188". In all actuality, "The Beginning of the End" is 186 and "The Beginning of the End" is 187 (the real episode 188 isn't even on this DVD). They got the #s right for "Mobster from Dimension X" and "The Day the Earth Disappeared".
And in the suggestions department: they wanted to include bonus eps. Why didn't they use all 5 parts of the "Red Sky" arc instead of using the first 2 and then 2 other Season 10 eps that have NOTHING to do with this storyline.
All that griping aside, excellent release. People are complaining about the video quality, but remember... this was 1980's TELEVISION animation... not quite what we're used to these days. Plus the storage of these episodes wasn't probably the best. I'm totally satisfied, though, with the quality.

i think i know why the eps look scratchy... they're not film defects... they're defects on the cels used in the animation process. I noticed this at the end of "A Thing About Rats" when the turtles are pawing through the rubble of the destroyed house. Scratches and blurs on cels look much like the white blurs and blobs and scratches in the episodes.

Bought it a while back the day it came out but i dropped the internet for a while.

Overall 7 out of 10!

I am happy with the first 5 episodes... But thats where it ends for happiness. Not saying that they shouldn't have put in the "lost episodes" but they could have instead put in the next 4 episodes of the series (season 2) or the first four episodes of season 10 not the last four.

next reason the set up could have been better.

And the third reason no special bonuses. And i Don't count the 4 episodes as a bonus. Im talking about a commentary, be it laird or Rob Paulson or any of the other voice actors. Heck what is James Avery doing now!

Oh and note the inner pamphlet says "access the TMNT special featuresby pressing the MENU buttonon your dvd players remote control." Where are the special bonuses! What! just the 4 episodes.... not much to go on there. Great give us the end of the story without the middle first. Real smart FHE!

Ok I'm happy now! my rant is done i can watch the show with happiness now. Hope i didn't piss anybody off .....ah who cares its my opinion anyway! have fun with the videos cuz i am!

Man, I went at midnight to get the thing when it first came out, My walmart just now got them in, like two weeks later.

I went out the same day and got it at Toys R Us, which is a longer drive, and I couldn't use my associate discount because I went to a different store. My store is even farther out (only by 10 minutes, but still) and I don't start working until summer. OH well, I got it, and I'm happy with it. I wish there were a few more bells and whistles to it, but I'm pleased with it, I mean, crap, it was only 10 bucks.

I finished watching the Bonus Episodes about several days ago.
My review:

Turtle Tracks: Not bad for the first episode. My favorite parts are when the Turtles walked around the street and keep asking April about questions and she would get them mixed up. Ninja Pizza was what I like the best.
The parts I thought were corning: The Granny with a Tommy Gun was too silly. Most of the Thugs were weird looking. The Foot Weapon had very unsual technology on their swords. rate:4 out 5

Enter the Shredder: I like those Robots with the lashos. Shredder looked silly in his radation suit. He had very silly looking robots. Nuckchas are able to beat a large robot? Rocksteady & Behop, not bad for henchmen. Rate: 4 1/2 out 5

A thing about Rats: Raph's quote "Or I'll be Sarcastic!" was one of the most funny yet not the best quote to say line. The Mousers were pretty badly done. Stockman was very wimping, which makes me like the newer one alittle more. Rate: 4 out 5

Episode 4: I like this one the most. I'm starting to like General Traag & the Nutroids(I keep forgetting how to pronouns their name). More or less I like this episode out of the other 4 of Season 1. :) Rate: 5 out of 5.

Episode 5: I like the turtle blimp. Krang's Suit growing 50 feet tall was very unrelastic. I just like the Turtle Blimp was all from this episode. Rate: 4 1/2 out 5 stars.

I'll be back to post my thoughts on Season 10 bonus episodes.

My Reviews for Red Sky. This season looks like an encredibly different compare to Season 1.

Return of Dregg: This which contain allot of Increible Hulk references. atleast I know who this Lord Dregg is A villian that takes over Shredder's place and he just does the same thing like he does, Take over the world.

Is it just me or does April spend all the time on her computer in this Season. I'm surprise they show and say the word internet since back then the Interenet wasn't High-Speed or used through a Cable line.
Don't care much for Carter.

The Beginning of the End: I was really getting irrated by the whole Leo getting mutated. Those Micro Bugs are a ripp off of Nano Bots. And that Transport thing Dregg keeps trying to create is simalar to the Tranport machine the Utroms made. Mighty Clucks was a rite.

Mobsters from Demension X: This is the only Episode I like so far from Season 10. The Mobsters are like the Mobsters from the New Series. Even the Blob Father's voice is simalar to the Mob Boss from the New Series.

Prof. Hudsley looks like Baxter Stockman from the New Series. This whole episode has a simalar idea to Lone Raph & Cub. i like the Blob Father the most.

The day the Earth Disappear: The part with the TMNT using decoy holograms is just like the old school BatMan always being prepared with a Gadget. This one's okay.

So I seen all of Season 1's episodes, 2 Usagi Episodes, & 4 unaired Red Sky Episodes. Now if only i can see the remaining 183 episodes.
I think S2 will come out on DVD. Since there's a good number of episodes I haven't seen in years. But there'll be a time when I finally get to see them all.

I got my copy of the DVD at the mall on Friday night, and it only cost me about $16 (it was worth every cent!). I loved getting the chance to see these episodes from the final season, and having such a nice clear copy of the original 5-part first season makes me hjappy as well! I am very excited to see what they'll do with Season 2!

It really is'nt wise to review the first two episodes of the bonus episodes, considering they form parts 1 and 2 of "Turtles to the Second Power", you can appreciate them as a whole when you see the three remaining episodes.

Aside from that, good constructive reviews, though you're wrong about Krang being 500 feet tall being "unrealistic"

They really should've used episodes from the eighth season (1994) for this DVD. Atleast Shredder would've still been in the picture, plus it would've been interesting to have the episode where the Channel 6 News building was destroyed.

I have two complaints about the dvd and comments about this super excellent 5 parter.

One at 3:24 when the rock walls glow red as part of the technodrome shows the screen turns black for a few seconds and goes unblack when the rocks go down as the technodrome's laser tank shows and the technodrome moves. What is up with it?

There is no screen selection for each ep.

I loved the first eps alot and they ARE A CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE SEEN THOSE EPS HUNDREDS OF TIMES AND ENJOED THEM WHEN I WAS A KID AND NOW AND the first 5 was what covered the basics of the series. I always had most of the 5-parter memorized because I loved it and the 5-parter was one I SAW SO MUCH.

One of my fav quotes in the 5 parter was when Shredder said you idiots, while clenching his fist (one of the members has that picture by his user name) after the Turtles caused Bebop and Rocksteady to knock themselves out by bumping into each other. I DON't KNOW WHAT MY MOST FAV QUOTE IS. I found don saying its too dangerous you wouldn't last 5 minutes in a ninja pizza parlor a bit wierd. I loved it when the granny screamed monsters and pointed her tommy gun saying one twitch and you're history scum now back off nice and easy. It was a classic when Shredder said its alive, its alive after he pulled the switch, after putting krang in his new body that is under a blanket, causing electricity around the android body and its hand comes out of the covers. LOVED THAT ONE. Raph's go suck a lemmon quote was typical for him.

There was great action, like fighting the foot soilders for the first time and beatting the stuffing, or should I saw parts, out of the foot soilders after they find out they are robots, gotta love RAph say clang did you say clang and Don saying they're robots and Mikey saying Robots lets kick and jumps in the air and really gets them with the nunchucks. Krang's attack on the city as a giant was a classic. It looked like the last ep when the turtles said they wait no longer and must put the shredder away and the T-Drome in was sucked in Dimension X, the first in many times the technodrome gets vanquished and after that its the earth's core, then the asteroid, then the arctic, (I have only heard of where the technodrome gets sent because I stopped watching it SHORTLY BEFORE IT GOT SENT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE OCean) then the bottom of the ocean, than in DImension X again, then stranded in Dimension X and destroyed, and KRang happly tells Shredder he can now conquer his homeplant, which was when Shredder said he wanted to conqauer earth, and in Dimension X shredder has to obey his orders since he IS "ABSOLUTE MASTER" in Dimension X. Vernon was not the annoying and sneaky whinny baby he was in the seasons after. KRAng CAme so close to his plan of having the stone warriors come out of Dimension X and overrun the Earth. About A dozen and Traag managed to get out of the portal into the technodrome just before Donnatello reversed the portal. One thing: They never showed Bebop and Rocksteady after KRang showed Shredder them being stuck in the cement, which the turtles made them stuck in after fighting them while Don got to Baxter's lab. BUT in the next ep they show bebop and rocksteaday in the t-drome when Shredder pleads krang to send him back. ONE THING TO Wonder it looked like the T-drome was headed in a firey pit when TRILLIONS of ROCK SOIlders were surrounding the technodrome waving to it, but in the next one it is on a planet with rocky surface. THAT WAS A NEAT SCENE WHEN THE ROCK SOILDERS, which there were FAR FAR FAR FAR TOO MANY TO COUNT, were waving to the technodrome as it was floating. They never explained how Krang lost his body. All they had Krang say was he lost his Body when they banished him to this miserable mudball(earth) and the war was carried on in dimension X since he was banished. Krang first on somekind of platform in Enter the shredder and in Thing about rats, hot rodding teenagers and Shredder gets splintered was on a wheeling platform. I loved it when Krang was nagging at shredder to get him a body and krang took it so far that he even sabatoshed Shredder's mousers plan and freed Michelangelo. the mousers attacks I loved. Loved the part when the sewer gratting shows from rain, then under shows a train going by and under the train is the technodrome moving and has Krang yelling at shredder for faling to destroy the turtles and refuses to give him one more idoa of his technodlogy until he give shim a body and tells him his stone warriors are ammased in Dimension X waiting to overrun this world at my (his) command and could not let him see him like this. Shredder gets the idea to pull weapons through dimension X. IT says in this ep the portal is opened for the first time. Good thing Traag is still loyal to krang, he felt bad seeing krang without his body and seemed to not know much about his banishment when he wondered what happened to his body. Krang says its a long story i lost it when they bannished me to this miserable mudball and shakes when he says it. April almots gets fired for being in cahoots with the turtles. I w*onder why no irma was shown when burne, vernon are shown. Burne says April is his 3rd best reporter when Vernon says april wasnt his second best reporter, showing some of his arrogance. They had april faint in front of the turtles and scream, similar to the movie and new cartoon. If there was a new turtle cartoon in 10 or 20 yeras from now they would have april attacked faint and scream at the site of the turtles.

BAxter was not as crazy in the 5 parter as in later eps. I noticed that rocksteady had a more dangerous sounding voice and then in later eps he sounded like a bumbling idoit. Krang's voice sounded different in the first eps, but in the eps after that it changed. I wondered what happened to the punks and why Shredder did not mutate them next and mutated the bat one back to normal and why the punks where not shown later. They were last shown in the dungeon while Krang was calling Traag to earth, which was just before the turtles arrived to cause the technodrome to pull itsself into dimension X. WHY WERE THEY IN THE DUNGEON. Shredder seemed mroe serious in the 5 parter, but was then a bumbling idiot in the eps after.

I (d_fife) was not the one having trouble finding the dvd. I found it the day it came out. Albrecht was the one who looked all over and was ordering it on line.

The dvd is not hard to find, but probably will be soon. I hope the next dvds released have screen selection and that stuff.

I loved these episodes.
The animation in the intro still imrpesses me :D
The fight scenes are also pretty good. The first battle against the foot was pretty nice. all of the comedy is still funny to me too :)
I wasn't very fond of the bonus episodes tho. Dregg seemed like a really lame enemy and his design is pretty durned bad. He looks like a very very VERY ugly blue bulldog. -_-
The mutations were also pretty bad >.< They did look hideous which I suppose is what they were goin for....but they also looked really silly.
Still a great dvd and well worth the money :D

walmart, target, bestbuy, fye, kmart, toysRus, ect. ect. ect. and as hard as I friken could buddy.

I found mine at the end of May before my "web board hiatus," It was at Best buy... so chances are, Best buy sold out of them, and they didn't bother to re-order them yet. But as for Target and the like.,... I mean, they still have walls of unsellable "Cat in the Hat" DVDs, allong with "What's Happening Season one," (also unsellable)... so unless they are cheap, I rarely buy any DVD's from those places...\

With that said, I love it. One of my favorite DVD's, allong with my Heathcliff DVD (you think TMNT is hard to find...). I even got to see the last season episodes I didn't see (and there is little question to why I skipped the ending of the series in the first place). But the first 5 episodes of TMNT, animated by Toei animation, so crisp, you can see the dirt and scratches on the animation cells.... PRICELESS!

Ok, I looked through pages 1, 2, and this last one, and got tired, so i'll ask this, as I didn't see it asked by anyone else in the 3 pages that I read.

Is Season 2 going to be made as well? I sure pray it will, because season 1 was about 40,000 times better than I thought it would be!

If they made season 2 the way they made season 1, I would be one happy camper.

Lets hope they put all of the seasons on DVD :)

If they are making season 2 on DVD, any idea when it will be out?

Thanks alot,
MFerV1

God only knows when they plan on releasing Season 2 on DVD, but I'm hoping they make arrangements for it soon.

I Agree with all of you about season 2, but unfornuatly I have heard no plans for the dvd, meaning if they make it may not be out until 2005. I actually want all 193 eps released!!!! but with this speed of releasing the dvds, it may not be released for 5 years. I HOPE THEY WILL MAKE SEASon 2, as i have said if the first dvd does well, they will probably consider others. THIS WILL GIVE new turtle fans a chance to see what they have missed becaused alot of kids where either young todlers or not even born when the first series came out and alot of the fans of the old series are now in their early 20s, for example I am 21 and the turtles thing started when I was close to 5 (I was born in early 1983), and 5 1/2 when it became a regular show.

It may be released sooner than we think. Seasons are coming out crazy fast nowadays. Boy Meets World season 1 isn't even out yet and they already announced the date for season 2. In 2+ years 7 seasons of Friends has been released. Seinfeld 1-3 is coming out all at once.

It may be sooner than we think.

i just wanna say that putting the old school original TMNT episodes on DVD was the most brilliant and coolest thing to ever happen. When I first heard about it, I was ecstatic. and now that I have the dvd, I watch it probably twice a week.

I FINALLY got my copy for 15 bucks at FYE a week or so ago. I really love the original Turtles show so this is great. The DVD is a little weak 'cause there aren't any bonus features, just bonus episodes. I am happy to have it though, 'cause I think that Ninja Turtles is a show to own for the show, not any DVD extras. I had never seen any Red Sky episodes before, so I was a little confused with some of the stuff going on. Oh, btw, Krang and Shredder own Dregg any day. That's the only thing I don't like about the Red Sky episodes, no Krang and Shredder. Oh, and not having Rob Paulsen as the voice of Raph wasn't very good either.

So overall I like the DVD, and I can't wait till season 2 :D

Hmm, this may be a little late, but I wanted to just give my impressions on Season One. I got it at Best Buy last May for only $9.99.

Overall, the five main episodes were awesome. Quality of the DVD is very good, even on the HDTV. The sound is also very good. The bounus five episodes, well they weren't in the correct order. This bothered me. I think they should have just made it the last five episodes so we could have seen some Shredder instead of the stupid Dregg.

The packaging is definatley a 10/10. It come with a 3D slipcase. The artwork seems to be true to the TMNT, however, I expected a darker tone to be used, not such a happy tone. The first five episdoes were more true to the darker comics then the rest of the series. Other than that, it comes with a nice insert with episdoe numbering, and a disc with nice menus.

A great package to any fan of the TMNT.

Just picked it up last friday over at the local Best Buy. Man, how those episodes brought back memories, it had been so long since I saw them, I forgot just how good they were, I'm very impressed with the DVD, and am glad that they finally started putting the old toon on DVD. My favorite episode was and is still the first one, shredder is just so cool in that one, will be picking the second dvd up soon and can't wait.

Dunno, but I definitely got it! Ahhhh happy times. My friend didn't know even the first vol was out so she picked it up and we watched it, ordered pizza, and of COURSE we put cereal on top of it!! It was actually kinda good... weird, but good. We used apple jacks and corn flakes. The apple jakes were best!

Don't see a thread mentioning it, but just as a reminder:

TMNT Season 3 volume 1 is street-dating THIS Tuesday (11/6/05).

We got them in at Suncoast and I was reading the description on the back (they make it sound like a video game).

Cover arts a little fugly (particularly Leo's head), but it's the first 12 episodes. Hoorah!

So i tried to watch my season 1 DVD yesterday and i got through the first four episodes with no problem. But while i was watching the fifth, and exactly at the spot where Splinter and Shredder begin to fight in the Technodrome the disc did something at the "commercial break" thing that follows and my disc wouldnt show anymore of the episode. It kicked me to the DVD players menu and when i tried to return to that episode it did the same thing to me, but at the spot where April and the news crew run off from the boss of the station. Then i couldnt watch any of the Bonus Episodes. What gives? Did i get a defective disc (this was my first time watching it) or does my brothers DVD player suck?

If it is a brand new disc, chances are it is the DVD player. Try cleaning the DVD player or another DVD player to make sure it is not the disc.
