It's proably a small animation mistake, I know other cartoon series that had some mistakes in color or animation.

*nods* Plus, in one scene... there's five turtles. Two Leos, two Raphs and a Don... And April. :)

Another screw up in the third episode happens right at the end, the driver changes from April to Michelangelo between scenes.

Oh yea I found a few.

In episode 2, when Splinter and turtles find the technodrome for the first time, Raph was talking in Splinter body. Haha.

One of the episodes intro where they show the episode name, Mikey is holding swords instead of his chucks.

So what are you all trying say. So the original TMNT had some animation mistakes. Not all cartoon are 100% perfect. I know Super Mario Bros. Super show had some episodes with mistakes in background or color.

But sometimes animators can make one small mistake.

It's just funny that even in the very first episode of TMNT there are screw-ups. You would think that if you were making the very first episode of a series, you would want everything to be perfect. I can understand making mistakes down the line when the series has been out a while and the animators are just cranking out new episodes to keep the show running, but the very first episode?!

ok first let me say that the old toon as tons and tons of mistakes. The new toon as a few I have seen already like the first episode has Leoanrod with to stomach belt.

Old School Ninja Turtle Episodes have mistakes. They just do. But it sure is fun to look for them.

In the bonus never-seen episode The Day The Earth Disappeared (?), there's a scene where Leo and Donny are being attacked by the earth. Then Leo turns into Raph for a while (not just color, but belt initial as well), but he has katanas and the same voice.

It's been so long since I've seen any of the episodes that I can barely remember any of them, (especially the early ones) so the blooper hunt is a fairly new game for me. I bought the disc the day it came out (well, that night), and I've been 'portioning' it to make it last longer. Hee, I can't remember when I've been this giddy while watching something turtle-related. Talk about a retro-trip . (Anyone catch the 'Mighty Clucks' gag in the second (I think) never-seen ep? )

Y'know, I never realized that the first series aired when I was only four. Geez. No wonder I didn't catch them the first time around! (Though I do remember playing Ninja Turtles on the playground in day care, hee)

All-in-all, I'm thrilled to death. The quality of the episodes doesn't bother me too much, mostly because they are so old and the film likely wasn't stored as well as, say, Disney films (this was largely pre-digital, people). And I doubt there's as much of a demand for Ninja Turtles as there is for SnowWhite, so Mirage&Surge Licensing probably doesn't have the budget to do a full restore.

And old VHS tapes/VHS Recordings/2-square-inch Realmedia rips don't give you this quality. So I'd say we're pretty darn lucky. So for heaven's sake quit complaining!

EDIT: I also noticed that, in the never-seen episodes, the first and second episodes (187 & 188, I believe) appear to be reversed. O.o

EDIT x2: Whoops, just found the 'official' thread. :tanime: Oh, well.

I am just happy we have the cartoon on dvd! The tapes are hard to find and they run out soon cuz tapes do that.

... We're just doing a bit of friendly nitpicking... Not complaining really... At least, I'm not. We know that all shows have mistakes in them.

And let's not turn this into a "Well the old show had X mistakes while the New one only has X many" competition. Doing that can only lead to bad things... arguments and such.

yep....and i like findind mistakes in both...like when raph was colloerd a leo in secret origen 3 and when leo's sholderbelt disapears and reapers again the next scene...i think it's in one of the city at war eps...where raph is poking leo in the shell...it just vanishes....and it's obvious cause of the poking

Funny you should mention Super Mario super Show... they had so many mistakes... In one scene of "Princess, I shrunk the Marios," Luigi's voice comes out of Mario's mouth. This is the most common mistake in 80's cartoons (as well as 90's) before everyone whent digital in animation.

The mistakes are fun to spot! They're fun to laugh at too if they're really good ones like that one someone said about Splinter talking with Raph's voice! :tlol:

There's a reason for the mistakes. It's called outsourcing for cheap. You get what you pay for. It's just recently where the Korean animation studios have grown and become proficient enough to eliminate these mistakes.

Batman: The Animated Series was the first to demand a higher quality of animation from the overseas studios. It and the Disney Afternoon's Gargoyles ushered in a new era of good animation. So much so, that the X-men series ended just because of all the struggling they did with AKOM to get decent episodes. They chose to quit rather than to keep up the fight. (B:TAS dropped AKOM as an outsource studio after two episodes. Dong Woo ended up giving them the best work and was a favored studio.)

However, within a couple years the errors and mistakes will be just as bad as they were in the 80's. With greater proficiency comes greater cost. The studios start raising salaries and wanting more money.

TV animation right now (and a lot of computer animation too) is slowly being outsourced to India where the studios are at the same level as they were in Korea in the 1980's. In fact, the Korean studios themselves are already starting to outsource to India what the US outsources to them. :tgrumble:

So the number of fewer mistakes in the new series is more due to Fox being willing to fund expensive skill and experience over cheap incompetence.
