Well that could be only one reason why he sold his rights. To find out the true reason as in if he was actually truely tired of the TMNT and cared nothing for it is either known not to my knowledge or only known to him. To actually really find out if he doesnt want to even talk about them or cares less for the TMNT you might have to ask him. I just found out a couple weeks ago he did give up his rights and i dont know who is pete and i didnt know he has the rights now lol

He's been away from TMNT for a long time. Even if it wasn't for him and Laird then TMNT won't exsit. But i don't mind if he pushed aside TMNT from his life. And today his ex-partner Laird owns the property of TMNT.

I wouldn't bother to ask him "TMNT is becoming popular again what do you have to say about that?" or "If you weren't friends with Laird in the first place what would you be doing besides making comics of mutated Reptiles".

I have questions too, but I won't bother to ask him questions he doesn't like to anwser. Leave him in peace. His goal is in a more different direction than Laird's is.

Kevin is always happy to talk about TMNT and answer questions. The guy is too nice not to. Last year at Comic-Con someone asked him about the return of the TMNT to the spotlight and he thought that it was great and that he was happy for Peter that it seemed to be working out so well. People really don't seem to give him enough credit.

If I recall correctly, he sold most of his share (not all) so that he would no longer be needed to make decisions. That way Peter would be free to relaunch TMNT without having to consult Kevin, who was busy with other projects and couldn't put that focus on TMNT. At least, that's one story.

That makes sense, really. He's a busy man from what I can tell, and he pry didn't have the time to put in to the relaunch of TMNT, and realized that if it DID take off, he'd still be making a hefty chunk o' change from it, even if he sold off most of his rights. I bet we see him return for a Tales issue at some point though.

I have to whole heartedly agree. Kevin should be hugged for his absolute niceness. Kevin did something Turtles related for my brother last year. It really means a lot to my brother and it's my opinion that Kevin's the most generous guy connected to comics. Just compare him to someone like Dan Jurgens or even worse...Todd McFarlane... :/

I never thought it unusual that he sold his rights. It's not uncommon for someone to make a lot of money doing something and to use that as a springboard to realize something they've always wanted to do. Which is what I always figured was the reason.

I mean, I realize that even the best of friends can grow apart, but they spent umteen years creating one of the most beloved groups of characters of all time. Hmm, I always wondered what happened to Kevin Eastman. Before I found out he was alive, I thought he died or something.Aaaack! Perish the thought completely! I would be totally inconsolable if I ever heard that! Kevin quite possibly has to be one of the sweetest, most caring famous peoples I have ever met. He is just so awesome and down to earth, you can literally be yourself in his presence. I don't have all the absolute facts on why he left TMNT solely up to Peter, but I know he has his reasons and I respect them to the fullest. People make changes in life. The TMNT was his past and he wants to move on. But, trust me, it's safe to talk about the TMNT around him. Even though he has moved on to be in charge of Heavy Metal and that sort of thing, Kevin is still very much into talking and visiting with us TMNT fans. When I was at the San diego can in 2001, he was very willing to sign our TMNT stuffs that he had a part in and do TMNT sketches for us. And even though his schedule was soooooo busy, the guy even took some time out to hang with us fans for a drink. The year before, Kevin had time to do dinner with them. Wow... he's cool.

From what I read in Kevin's Autobiography, it sounded like the whole roll-out of the TMNT as a comic was sparked by Laird. Laird was already an experienced comic book artist when Kevin teamed up with him. Kevin was like the second in command. Laird prolly had comics set as his career, while Kevin sounded like he was working with Laird for the experience. So I take it that more doors starting opening up for Kevin later, and he took a different route. The rest is left up to speculation.

From what I understand, Heavy Metal and his wife have kept him VERY busy. He has no time to do anything for the TMNT, corporate-wise anymore. So rather than bog down things for Laird (it's a long way between Massachusetts and LA), Kevin handed his share over.

I think he still have some of the rights and credits and such in his name.
