I've seen on other boards they have a little bit where you can rate threads so as to show the really good threads (and perhaps bad ones). I just thought this was a kind of cool idea

Although I'm sure the reply will probably be 'that will be included in the new version of the boards'

You got that right.

what's that good for anyway. either you like a thread or you don't. you don't need a rating system to find that out...

It could save innocent posters from walking in on a thread full of whiny bitches or a flame war.

Yeah there really isn't ANY point in it at all...

Well if you look at it this way. There's a load of threads and some have weird titles and you never bother to click it since there's so many and you can't be bothered. Then you see it's got 5 stars and then you wonder 'maybe this is good and I'll give it a go' and you find a funny thread.

Or maybe for the author they might feel a little better if their thread is getting 5 stars

That was all I thought

The only bad thing thing with this is then we'll have some people that are immature and rate a thread poorly becuase they don't like the creator of it or something...

Yeah, plus it'll have to be rated by most people or everyone who sees it. You could end up with one thread that a few people like and it's got 5 stars because they've all given it that (but then those threads would usually have obvious names).
There are flaws but it might work...it's why I put it up for discussion
