I picked up JLA #94 the other day and got to thinking. In it John Bryne and Chris Claremont, the guys who pretty much put X-Men on the map reunited for a story. Do you think Kevin and Pete will ever do this? Kevin can't be that busy with Heavy Metal. A Tales of tmnt collabortation would be great! Do you think they visit these forums? Maybe if enough people get the word out that they want it to happen...
Anyway, just a thought.

Yes...he can.

Heavy Metal is much more than a mere graphic novel series...it's an RPG, it's a video game, it was a cartoon (and a fairly crap one I might add) it's a whole FRANCHISE, just like TMNT.

I thought it was just the magazine now cause all the other stuff did crappy.
And you're right that cartoon movie sucked.

Hmmm. But he dose retain the rights to the original Heavy Metal wich many consider a classic. But man, you never no..He may do a Turtles story sometime down the road. It would be like visiting the kids.

I understand that Kevin is busy with Heavy Metal, and that a Laird/Eastman collaboration like the early issues and #50 isn't possible, but it would be fun if Kevin ever got enough time to write and draw a short backup story (like, 3-4 pages) for a Tales issue...

Kevin has talked for years about doing a new TMNT story, but so far it hasn't happened. A collaboration with Peter would be twice as unlikely.

The sad thing is, they were really close to seeing each other again, and possibly sparking a collaboration on a future TMNT project. Let me tell you a story...
Supposedly, according to Eastman's Heavy Metal site on his " What's on my Brain " page he said that he was in Northampton, Massechutes. He said his plan was to see Laird, and the mirage crew, but those plans fell short, and he didn't end up seeing them, but he did find a picture of Laird on his Segway in the newspaper.

The link ( if anyone cares ) is http://www.metaltv.com/page.cfm?id=674

Yours in Style,

Mr.Keith

Didn't Kevin sell his part of control over the TMNT to Peter? I thought I heard something like that.

But if they did reunite for a TMNT story, that would be great. If it ever happened, they'd probably do a final ending story--like the death of the TMNT.

Why'd the break up in the first place? They fight or something?

I don't know. I think Kevin saw that the TMNT weren't going anywhere after the third movie so he quit and concentrated all his attention on Heavy Metal. I heard he gave the creative control to Peter and left for good but with no bad feelings between them.

As a matter of fact, I think Peter said that Kevin just wanted to do other things and leave the turtles behind. But it wasn't written in stone so I think with the right proposition, Kevin may return to do one last story. And like I said, if that ever happens, it'll most likely be the final fate of the TMNT--like a death of story.

Ah, cool. I was afraid the split was something real nasty, involving lawsuits and crap. Good to hear it didn't turn out that way. Eastman had a cameo as a cop in the first episode of the new series, right? So I guess he doesn't hate the series all that much.

Well, also almost any episode with cops in it has the Eastman/Laird duo, actually.
