What did/do you guys think of these characters from TMNT2?

I've always liked Prof. Perry just fine and thought that he served a good purpose, he had a point, his interaction with the TMNTs was good, etc...

But I've never liked Keno. I can't really put my finger on why, the kid just bugs me. Was there any real reason for him to suddenly become best buddy to the turtles and help them out? I guess he had a point in that he found out where the Foot were but I bet the TMNTs could've done that on their own. Keno just seemed very contrived to me.

Thoughts?

I liked Prof. Perry. He had a purpose in the film, and he was a likeable character overall.

Keno, well, I never understood why they didn't just use Casey? He was already established & he's an infinetly better character then Keno could ever dream of being. I agree with you that Keno was contrived.

That might be the vodka talking, but I've read somewhere that Prof. Jordan Perry was supposed to be an Utrom.

The Prof. Perry being an Utrom thing was supposedly thrown around in the very early scripting stages. But for some reason, it was taken out (some say that kids would've been too confused.)

Perry was supposed to be revealed as a Utrom, indeed, but the scene WAS in the final draft of the script

Ernie Reyes Jr did the stuntwork for Donatello in the first movie.
I liked them both too.

I did not mind both, But I too wondered why they did not have Casey in the 2nd. His role in the 3rd was crappy.

IT was neat having a pizza delivery man with martial arts skills in the 2nd. HE was considered a valluable ally. It was funyn when jordan joined the crowd when they raised their fists rooting for the turtles in the ninja rap.

As you can tell from my avatar, signature, and username,Perry is one of my favorite characters from TMNT 2. It would've been odd to see him as a Utrom. I liked how he and Don connected on so much due to their intelligence, and I liked how he helped the turtles out although Shredder had him make Tokka and Rahzar{speaking of which,am I the only one annoyed by how Rahzar has two different pronunciations in the film? 99% of the characters say "Ray-zar"...kinda like saying "Razor",but April calls him RAH-Zar. I don't know why, that always bugged me}.

As far as Keno goes,I undertsand why he was included in the film,as I've heard parents complained that Casey was "too violent" in TMNT 1.
Ernie Reyes doing Donnie's TMNT 1 stunts is pretty cool, news to me.

The Keno character itself is kinda annoying but Reyes,Jr. is great at martial arts. He's been in some good stuff, like Surf Ninjas, and more recently as one of The Rock's adversaries in The Rundown.

Utroms are what Krang was based on basically.

Speaking of Professor Perry being an Utrom. When I read the rumor somewhere on-line it even mentioned where he revealed himself as an Utrom. It happened during the uproar at that night club where *cough*Vanilla Ice*cough* was performing. Apparently, Professor Perry just took himself aside into a janitor's closet (something like that anyway) and showed the audience watching the movie he was really an Utrom. Good thing they left out that bit of him being an Utrom cause then the movie would end full of plot holes! I mean surrounding his being there and what purpose does showing us he's an Utrom do if we don't even get a look at his past or his departure from Earth?

Anyway, Professor Perry is pretty cool.
But Keno on the other hand isn't in my book cause he's just there to deliver the Turtles pizza! The film makers probably felt they had to put a pizza delivery guy in there as an ally so it (like so many other things in the movie) would reflect the cartoon more (the cartoon would have done that: put a pizza guy as an ally just because the Turtles are a fan of what he delivers!) and parents wouldn't throw a hissy fit cause the movie's too dark like the 1st one ("it wasn't intensely loyal to the cartoon's attitude therefore it's unsafe for kids" as those parents would say about the original movie never mind the feelings of the rest of us who liked that movie and get stuck with crappy sequels).
After delivering the pizza, Keno just hung around the rest of the movie and acted like he was hotshot and just seemed to get in the way of everything! :tgrumble:

Keno can go to hell.

But Perry was cool. Mostly because he was played by David Warner, one of my favorite "B" actors. He's everywhere, it seems. And he's an awesome voice actor. Ra's Al Ghoul, the Lobe and tons of other characters. The guy's great.

Had Keno only been Casey maybe the movie might have been decent. But unfortuantely, that wasn't the case. And the 2nd movie is just plain bad.

Cool, thanks, dude. I'm sure I've heard that before, if it was in the old school cartoon, at least... and nice new Bam-ness, by the way. You must get all yer new Bam-ness and make a moving av.

Times are changing, I for one agree with Donatello; I disbelieve that Perry has told them the whole story. Maybe Perry will reveal his secret in the forth movie...

Now that I would like to see! It would be very interesting to have a story where Perry comes back like 12 years later to reveal his true form to the guys.

Well, that's one thing we agree on, I don't believe Perry told them the whole story either. Maybe I'm just looking too much into it, it's just a movie after all. But I always felt that something about Perry was a little bit... off. I mean, if the creation of the ooze was an accident, how would he know the chemical composition well enough to alter it? And how exactly did they figure out what it could do?

*shrugs* Eh, things like this are why fan fics exist. :D

I, too, didn't think that Perry had told them the whole story and was *sure* that it would be expanded on in the third movie. But that obviously didn't happen.... I was actually rather upset that the third movie wasn't a continuation of the second.

As for Keno, I consider him one of *the* worst characters in TMNT history. He was such a whiney little wannabe know-it-all.

"I gotta tell the guys! I gotta tell the guys!"

Oy....

I gurantee you the real reason they left out the Utrom scene was because Peter did'nt want the exact headache he's getting right now ten years early...

Jarrah White

Here's the story, the Utroms were a race of beings from outer space. They resembled brains and were transported in humanoid robot bodies. They crash landed on earth and used a building called TCRI (Techno Cosmic Research Insitute) as a front. It was these aliens who created the ooze that mutated the turtles.

Jarrah White
05-21-2004, 07:17 AM
Basically, Krang was an obvious rip-off of the Utrom characters. The severed brain of a Dimension X war criminal. He looks like a Utrom and uses their same transport system, but he really isn't a Utrom, honest.

He was not a rip-off, his design was just inspired by the Utrom design.

Okay, bad choice of words.

Jephael
05-22-2004, 11:16 AM
It really doesn't count as a rip off since it was basically a modification of something they had already created. However, if they had made Krang based on someone else's characters and credited it as their own idea all along, that would be a rip off.
