There hasn't been a new post on this forum for 10 hours so i needed to make a new thread.

Ok On to the topic. The First season is the best of course. Second season is pretty good too with baxter changeing in to a fly and "The eye of Zarnoth" thing +of corse return of the technodrome.

But then it began. The third season had some good episodes but it also had many boring ones. The show started really repeat itself(happens to most series). It had few gems like the casey jones and usagi eps but rest of them were pretty much avarage or below. The final three episodes nevertheless were probably the best after the first season. All together the third season was a 50/50.

Then came the fourth. Mad scientists. Really in almost every ep. Around this time i was thinking that the show was getting boring. Only a few eps are above the avarage here.

Right now im watching the fifth season. So far so good. Reminds me of Third season. Cant commen on rest of the season yet.

Give me your opinnions.

 I know what its like hanging around an empty forum karpo :P

Yeah that was around when it started to get boaring, I don't think the writers were trying hard enough!! they had a lot of possibilities left that they never used!! And yes the mad scientists got boring preety fast. I liked 1988, it had lots of good fights, the one on one fights in 87 wern't that good like the showdown with Shredder and Splinter :ohwell: 89 had quite a few good eps!! like Cowabunga Shredhead!!! but not to many good fights :ohwell:

What really made the show kind of depressing for me is not so much involvment with Shredder.... plus in the later seasons sometimes it was practically all gadgets that the tmnt used to fight Shredder or other mad scientists... Season 2 was my fav though, especially the finaly with Return of the Technodrome... Although one of the worst tmnt eps was in season 2.... New York's Shiniest, that ep was so boring. No encounters with Shredder just involvment with the robo officers that Shredder duplicated or scenes involving Rex-1.

Yeah. They never should have replaced shredder with those scientists...

yeah the 1990 ones ar like that because they would have 1 shredder ep and then a ep with a random bad guy, often a mad scientist :dead:

*Emerges from the thick fog, dusting himself off*

Finally, I am able to visit the forums again! Homework and classes this past week just completely took over. You know, college would be great if you didn't have to go to class . . . :P

As far as the cartoon getting boring, I never thought the show got boring. I actually commend the writers for coming up with as many ideas as they did. I mean, come on -- how many episodes do you think the writers could have come up with that just dealt with Shredder and Company? You would have to expand your avenues just to keep the show fresh.

The first episode in the history of the series to not feature Shredder and Company in any capacity whatsoever was the 27th episode, "Enter the Rat King." You could call it a landmark of sorts since subsequent episodes without Shredder and Company followed.

Personally, I liked the writers mixing it up a bit. If it was just the Turtles battling Shredder all the time, it would get kind of boring. But when you throw many other villains into the pot, suddenly new doors are opened for more story ideas. Personally, I loved all the wonderful characters the writers came up with. I liked the fact that there were so many mad scientists trying to take over the world. It allowed Shredder and Company to take a breather, to kick back, to bake their cake and eat it too.

Not that the series didn't start to slip in later seasons. I first noticed this in 1993, in which just about every episode dealt with aliens from outer space trying to do something to Earth. David Wise wrote most of these episodes, but I think even he was scratching the bottom of the barrel for ideas. Not that he didn't write some truly wonderful episodes; but I think even the gas in his tank was running a little low during this time.

And, of course, anyone who's seen the show and followed it knows what happened in the end. In an effort to rejuvenate the series, the writers canned Shredder and Company completely and brought in new bad guys. Unfortunately, the fans just never really digged the Dregg character. The show fell victim to what so many shows fall victim to; it stayed on the air for longer than it should have, which resulted in a less-than-stellar ending for the series.

It should have ended with Shredder and Company battling the Turtles, not Dregg and Company battling the Turtles.

But I love the series. I will never tire of it. I even watch the Dregg episodes, although not as frequently. I love all the colorful characters that were introduced. I love the Shredder-Krang banter. I love how the writers weren't afraid to take chances.

In my opinion, the show never got boring. It just ran out of steam in the end. But it was on the air longer than most cartoons, which is quite an achievement.

Whoa!!! :o You have a thing for REALLY long posts NTCF!!!! :P I remember the exact second I stopped watching TMNT actually... it was the Episode "Revenge of the Fly" it was in 1993, when Baxter starts turning firemen into termites. I remember sitting in front of that tv in those fateful seconds ehn I realized how stupid the show was becoming and I then made that decision that until 2 years ago was not broken and I sealed off TMNT and pressed the off button.

Everyone has different tastes. Some people like the light-hearted Turtles, people like me. Some people like the edgier Turtles, people like Karpo. To each his own.

Obviously, the show won't suit everyone's tastes. That's part of what's fun about being a fan of something as high profile as the Ninja Turtles. Some wonderful discussions can be started out of those different preferences.

I don't know when I will start writing a Ninja Turtles story, but you can bet that it will have, at its heart, the light touch and goofiness that I adore from the series.

I would never write a story that's got real butt-kicking in it. That's not how I like the Turtles.

When I meant butt-kicking, I meant actual physical violence. There would probably be a fight in my story (the Turtles always battle the bad guys in their episodes), but I'm not talking about someone getting seriously hurt.

You want bloody violence? Read somebody else's fan-fiction. Because mine won't have that in it.

No offense to Mica, but her story is not one that I would read. When I think of Raphael, I think of a Turtle with great one-liners and a snappy personality.

I don't think of him as some pyscho killing-machine. I guess you could call me one of those people who likes to bring a smile to peoples' faces. I suppose I could do that by writing a kick-ass story (literally), but that's not me.

We've all got our likes and dislikes, and I'm sure many of the fanfic writers respect that. ;)

One of the reasons why I love fanfics so much is because of how complex the TMNT are. They've got so many different universes (Image, Mirage, Cartoon, Archies, TNM, COOTS, Movies, etc ) that it's fun to see how other people interpret them.

When it comes to the cartoon, I don't like to see a lot of violence. This was never a problem in the cartoon since there was never any blood or anybody getting seriously hurt. I think that Parents Watchdog Group had a lot to do with that.

When it comes to the rest of the Ninja Turtles universe - movies, comics, role-playing games - I don't mind. I don't watch the movies that much, I don't read the comics ever, and I like playing the Nintendo games so it's all fine with me.

So as far as the cartoon goes, I wouldn't like to see Leonardo take his sword and slice some mugger's hand off. That's not why I watch the cartoon. I watch it because 1) it's kid friendly, and 2) because it still makes me laugh after all these years.

*glances over the thread* Well, we've had a slight change in topic, but still an interesting read.

As for my opinion, there's only so many ideas people can work into a show, so things are bound to get stale or boring after a long amount of time.

And for how I see the Turtles, I love every universe, they all have things about them I love. The cartoon is fun, Mirage is more serious, the movies have a nice mixture of both... I like that the Turtles have so many "faces", it means there's more to write about.

400 fan fics, yeah, there's more than that now. I myself have more than 30 to my name, ranging from a G rated cartoon based fic (complete with corny stoyline and dialog) to an R-rated erotic thriller (*ducks away from the threats to finish it*). Short and long stories, comedy, action, drama, horror, that's what I really love about TMNT, that they work well in many different genres. If you like comedy and good fun, they've got that, if you like violence and drama, they've got that too!

Don't worry, Kali! I'm not going to throw my Ninja Turtles pillow at you because you write R-rated erotic thrillers. I think people should be able to express themselves in any way they wish.

How does the saying go? If you don't like something, don't bother yourself with it? :-? It's something along those lines. Anyway, I don't condemn people who like the kick-ass Ninja Turtles or those who write that type of fan-fiction. I've never bad-mouthed it (or at least I hope I never have!).
