Okay, can someone nicely explain to me why the later episodes are referred to as "Red Sky"? I know there is a red sky during the episodes. Is it because we just happened to notice "Hey, they've started drawing the sky red" or was there a story line involved in it? Thanks!

Well, it's called red sky by fans because the sky suddenly turned red in this series lol..best way to explain it.
And allot of changed came about around this time I'd have to say allot of the animation became allot better compared to the cheap episodes that were shown on fox but hey I'm one of the people who liked the CBS episodes better.
Anyway they brought in new characters brought back old ones like Casey & the rat king gave the turtles and April new looks which I happened to like allot.....
There shredder and krang were back as well as bebop and rocksteady but only for a short time..things did become a bit more edgy though during the red sky episodes like shredder saying he never bluffs and blowing up channel 6 I remember when I first saw that my jaw hit the floor.
In the very same episode the turtles had to rescue krang from the builder of the technodrome Berzerko who I would have liked to see a bit more of...
We also got new villains like Titanis and his evil mutant hench men H.A.V.O.C who were secretly kidnapping people and turning them into mutants because Titanis felt that mutants were better then humans he even had some of the turtle fooled until April and burn saved them from Titanis.
And then you have the end of the series with such guys as The Much hated Lord Dregg, My personal Fave Mung, & The Hi-tech with lord dregg and his gang came a bunch of other aliens bent on world conquest he at first had the humans tricked into believing him that he was good and helping the human race but the turtles eventually showed everyone dreggs true colors.
I like dregg personally he's a real villain I hated him and to me that's a good villain he used everyone and cared for no one but himself when it came down to it....he even sent Hi-Tech off into space in a capsule and made Mung His second in command. Another thing that made this series end a good one to me was that they brought back shredder and krang one last time but Dregg was able to capture everyone and absorb there mind and physical powers everyone except shredder who managed to get away why holding mung hostage... I can remember the noises krang was making in my head to this very day it gave me such goose bumps to see krang and the turtles being drained of there lives.....thankfully shredder and April saved them all and then shredder and krang were sent off never to be seen of again...sad really....I do have to agree I would have liked to have the shredder and krang thing resolved in the last episode...but nope we got the turtles going to the future having 2 time travelers Landor and Merric bring the future turtles to our time and helping the present day turtles save the world from dregg and mung. In the end splinter told them all they no longer needed him and that they are great ninja.
I really have to say The Red sky series is my favorite turtle series even compared to the one we have today...I don't know there was just something about it that made me look forward to it every week.
Hope I've been of some help sorry for rambling.

Hey man, thanks alot. That was exactly what I was looking for. I didn't know if there was some sort of story to the fact the sky was red, or what. I do enjoy the series too. I love how the animation was taken alot more seriously. I also like the new looks for the characters. I think it's nice tha the turtles have a little bit of green around their masks and stuff. Anyway, thanks again man!

the only downside to the "red sky" eps was the stupid super mutations story thread....it sucked....i'm glad they finally threw that story out....for good....but hey that's just my opinion....i mean we have people here who loved NT:TNM....so we all hjave our quirks.... :D

I don't think it was stupid...the story wasn't that great but we have had worse episodes including ones on the new show that happen to be very lame and or boring.....
I don't think that story has been thrown out at all and i think the idea to do this all was lairds but I could be wrong he did come up with the ideas for next mutation turtles and if you look at raph he looks a hell of allot like the one from the red sky series....I think my favorite part of it though was dregg taking the part of the crystal out so leonardo was all mutated and crazzy still it reminded me allot of tokka from the movie I always wanted figures from the red sky episode perhaps thats why I like them so much...but I do agree some of the stories were lame but I really enjoyed the chracters and animation.
but yea I happen to be one of the few people who like everything ninja turtles....I just enjoy seeing everything thats been given to us even if some think it "sucks" or is "lame" those words get thrown around far to much in todays world......but anyways like I said the next evolution of the turtles hasn't really been thrown out just look at raph in the mirage book right now..I mean come on it looks almost exactly like that.

I'll admit, I got a kick out of the super mutations, but I think it would've been better if they had said it was caused by coming into contact with some kind of mutation beam or more mutagen.

I think the only thing I was dissapointed about was the fact that we never saw splinter mutate again I really liked peters drawing of splinter for it.
