I think that this would be a terrific idea, they have re-released them in stores, and the 1st movie is based on the comic as is the new cartoon so kids would think it was awesome. I know that I would go see it, even though I have the first two.
What do you guys think :)

I'd go see it in theatres...considering I was only like 5 or 6 when it played in theatres the first time.

They did re-release the first one in cinemas in the UK. But in only a few cinemas nationwide...none near enough to me damn them...
Sorry I can't share anything else :P

that would be great, because the only movie i saw in theaters was the 3rd movie, so i would love to see the 1st movie in theaters.

It would be tight if they played the first 2 together cuz the 3rd was kind of stale. I know they had a big enough budget to make it better. But Ide love to see the first 2 again in theatres.

i would go se eit. i only saw movie 2/3 in theaters. i was still a toddler in preshsool when movie 1 came out in theaters but i did get it on VHS the day it came out. my dad used to work at Toys R us when i was little so i got all TMNT stuff right off the shelves when it came out. and then i was an only child so i was spoiled hehe

Many non-TMNT fans I've talked to have fond memories of the first movie, and still enjoy watching it (I lent people my DVDs during school), but they always come back saying they don't remember the second and third movies being so stupid and silly. A re-release of the first movie could do pretty well, but I'm not sure if the other two movies will hold up. Hmm, how about an Imax release? :)
The movie would be fairly sucessfuly, but not as sucessfully because the turtles were more popular when it came out, though the new series is fairly popular and will probably be on for at least 2 or 3 more years, and it would not be as successfuly in the first time in theaters because now grown up fans will remember it, but some people who watch the new show may not have been born when it came out since it came out in 1990 and current teengers were born in the late 80s/early 90s, and it is on DVD.
But fans will familizarise it with some parts of the show: April's apartment blowing up in Shredder strikes back, returning to new york after recovering in a place out in the middle of nowhere( in the movie it was april's grandmother's barn place with no phone for miles, in the new toon it was casey's deceased grandmother's house that was run down), raph getting unconcios in the movie(leo was uncounsios in battle in shredder strikes back), foot in uniforms and not robots, casey crashing in, sirens and shredder telling the foot to disappear(just like in the movie sirens are heard and tatsu says ninja vanish), the foot ambushing the apartment, hiding out from the foot in the apartment, Don saying they will be out of here way(but that was in the 2nd movie), Splinter being the rat pet of yoshi and experiencing yoshi killed(splinter clawed shredder in the movie, but clawed hun in the new toon), shredder being able to beat the turtles down (something shredder wasn't as able to do in the new toon).
I think it would fit well with the movie being released with the new toon, but older fans may remember the movie too well. I own the movie even.

I'd be there opening day like i was in 1990
Forgot to say Fans will familiarize with RAph being the first turtle to meet Casey, and him stopping casey from hitting bad guys with the club, and the puckbrain and gakface names(they were used in meet casey jones), and April and casey not getting along at first, but loving each other in the end, but it will differ to them for the new toon because April is a reporter and not a lab assitant to baxter, fans will be able to compare raph's anger and loner and storming off problem with the new toon and movie and splinter telling his students the art of invisibility.
I just think 2005 would be a good time to rerelease it because it will be 15 ( a milestone number) years since the first release.

I would so watch it!
Ah, yes, the good ol' days.
It was quite a time what with the huge TMNT phenomina!
My favourites are part one and two. Part three was... ok.
It would have been nice if it continued from part two with Super Shredder! :shredder: :tevil:

But fans will familizarise it with some parts of the show:
Keep in mind that the movie was super succesful the first time it came around and they made it due to the popularity of the old toon and it was not a whole lot like the movie (except for news reporter april, and and dumbass pizza addictions) and it did fine, so it will be even better (hopefully :) )

I know it'll never happen, but it'd be sooooooooo awesome to release those back in the theaters. Esp. since I never saw any of them in the theaters! At the time I guess I wasn't as big of a fan as I had become later on.

I'd so be there.
You know, they show older movies for kid's matinees around here. They should so show TMNT. I'd be there for both 1 and 2. :)
Okay... and 3...

Other less popular things have come back. And if there's an added fanbase developing over the new show, there's even more reason to play them. Not saying it would be a huge success, but it'd be nice even if it just came for a couple weeks to one of those specialized theaters.

That would kick ass! I'd see each one a few times.
Forget re-releasing the movies in theatres. Let's see some new movies!

BOTH ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But what type of new movie.... one like the old ones? One based on the new cartoon? Something unique in and of itself? Liveaction/toon?
I don't know.... one of each at least!
Well, I for one would like to see a movie focusing on Casey Jones' life--live action.
Or maybe a live action turtles meeting the Triceratons movie.
Or a live action movie with Krang! You know, I always wished they would make a sequel to The Secret of the Ooze where Krang abducts Shredder on the docks and revitalizes him. Then Shredder returns again and uses the last bit of the ooze to transform that doctor (I forgot his name!) into a fly-creature  then two street thugs into Bebop and Rocksteady. Then the turtles would have to fight more than they could handle until Casey joins up.
Then they could make a sequel to THAT, with Krang unleashing the rock soldiers!
What do you think?

see the thing w/ krang is they would never use him because he was in the old cartoon and comic and any new TMNT movies would be based off of the new show or the mirage comic series. kids would see krang and get all confused and seriously w/ a movie like that the know thats theres an old school fan base but the true $$ relies on little kids.
Yeah, but the kids watching the new cartoons saw the Utroms. So the filmmakers could just say that Krang was an evil Utrom and it would be believable.
As a matter of fact, in the new toon I was expecting that evil Utrom controlling Shredder's armor to be named Krang, how about you all?

That would be awesome if they re-released it in theartres. If they did, it would probobly be only in select citys, but I'd make the travel to see them in theatres.

I'd like to see a new, live action movie that starts the origins all over again....Not a continuation of the old movie and not based on the new cartoon.

It was worse in the 'toon than it was in the movies.

I'd rather not see another origin story, I'm totally burnt out on TMNT origins--plus, the TMNT are popular enough that people are going to know the basics and all you really need is one or two well-phrased lines to remind them where the turtles came from.
A movie that focused on Casey would be neat... I'd like to see a 'what he's doing now' rather than a 'what made him how he was' story though, because his past always seems really brushed over to me and I don't want a movie that's going to have that feel to it. Plus there needs to be turtles in the movie!!!!!!
I do want to see a live action Krang (even an Utrom thing), but maybe not bebop and rocksteady I never really liked them...they were too just....stupid o.o even when I was little I didn't like them.
I also like keeping it simple.... limit the space travel/dimension hopping/ultra-technology and stuff to focus on the characters. I haven't seen all the new eps yet so I don't know if it happened in the cartoon, but with some things once you put in aliens and spaceships and whatever else to the otherwise 'normal' environment it starts getting all about those things and how amazing they are and then that's it... it looses the story and the characters and we just get "ooo look big space ships and aliens!" And if the film doesn't get a big budget to work with, that stuff could come out reaaally poorly done.

Actually, it is. COnsidering you don't know the story or anything. All you know is that I'm making one. Plus, I've mentioned it on these boards a few times before.
I will speak of it no more, my friend. You have my word. :)
