Here's an interesting question, what would you have liked the original cartoon to have offered? Things that never happened in the old show that you would have liked to see? I haven't seen much of the old show, but Casey wasn't in any of the episodes I saw, it was just April, April, April. I would have liked it had there been more Casey...

Pfft, that says it all about your expectations...and opinions...but I won't go into that, it's bad enough you take it upon yourself to review the old episodes and continusly try and blow them apart.
Stick to your day job and review the new cartoon and the Next Mutation, one thing I can't stand is when noobies try and review the original series
I'd like to have seen more of H.A.V.O.K, they were a pretty decent new threat, oh and more Don Turtelly.

no offense, using the terb N00b, lol... please.
it just . . . makes the internet such a laughable place.
people can't just go into sites and post without shooting other people down.
i mean come on, lol. i don't want some "Flame" war,
but then again, this is the type of stuff that got general discussion taken down,
so i'll leave it be.
i grew up on the old series and love it, but it's just a show,
i hold it very dear to me. and i realize i enjoy the show,
that I do... so no one else's oppinion should matter as long as i am able to enjoy it.
as for the show, i wou;d've liked more psycho casey, some cerebus,
more traveling to distant worlds, more evil shredder. and more
foot ninjas than you can shake a stick at . . . i wish dimension x was explored more.

I like pretty much everything about the original show. The art style, music, sound effects, character voices and storylines (sometimes cheesy but still good) come together to form a classic that won't and probably can't be duplicated.
The only thing I would like to have seen is expanded storylines on some characters that were only in a few episodes and somethings that aren't possible in the new show. It seems there is no chance of many old characters being in the new show.
One thing that I always wanted to see is an extended story arc of a Turtles in Timelike story or something similar involving different dimensions. This is still possible in the new show but I doubt it will happen.

I have some apologies to make, I've fallen out with my wife, and it was'nt good when I saw that Jarrah had a thread locked for once again choosing to spit on Peater Laird.
Why krang was exiled I would have liked to have seen and I heard that this guy name DRakus, from threads and ep reviews , built the T-Drome. they should have shown how krang got the technodrome just before or after his exile and how and when he met with saki. Explain why krang was in bubble walkers (like the showed in three muskaturtles).
I read the divide and conquer reviews eps, IF saw that ep I would say that they could have shown shredder and krang in that ep. I heard they went to dimension X to get krang's body and they had the chance to show shredder and krang one last time.

There's a few things I would have liked to have seen, such as if Irma ever getting a date or April changing clothes like a normal person. More of Casey Jones would have been nice, too. The TMNT needed more villains, more threatening, I should say. The episodes without Shredder featured too-easy-to-combat bad guys and the stories themselves were rather slow in parts. I can understand what the writers were trying to do, but it didn't work out too well. I guess it's tough writing for a kid's show when you've got the F.C.C. breathing down your neck.

What I'd have changed and/or added?
More Casey Jones episodes, perhaps make him a regular.
No Zack the fifth turtle.
Toei Studios all the way. After the miniseries they switched to a Korean studio and the quality plummeted, animation-wise. Should've sticked with Toei in Japan.
Baxter return to normal and get a "happy" ending (always felt sorry for him).
The TMNT a little less hellbent on eating pizza 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
No bandana/voice errors.
Eh. That's about it. In retrospect the show was just fine. Just a few things I'd like to have seen done. And as for Jarred, I don't like him any more than you guys do but to be fair, there's nothign wrong with this thread. It's somewhat thought-provoking. If you're going to flame him at least do it after he's done something wrong.
Utrom Shredder
06-14-2004, 08:19 PM
Well, after comparing the old show with the new one, I wish the old one had Utroms in it. In fact, the old show should also have made Shredder out to be an evil Utrom. Of course, I am a little biased here because I love the story line twist in the new series of making Shredder an evil Utrom, if you couldn't tell from my screen name, avatar, or signature.
I like the darker tone of this new series, and I think the old show should have been a little less corny and a little more darker.
Also, the character of Splinter in the old show should have actually been a real rat instead of being a human mutated into some sort of rat-man.

I thought it would've been funny if Irma went out with Casey Jones in an episode!
As for the random villians, they definitly reflected the cornball aspect of the series. Some of them very ammusing while others were just lame.

I know it was highly unfeasable, but I always thought it would be totally awesome if they found the future version of Usagi Yojimbo's homeworld and they wound up in St. Canard meeting Darkwing Duck!!!

I would have liked to see Utroms in the old show too, not sure about a Shredder Utrom though. Secret Origins will air next week, expect Mr. White's review :)
Why not, Krang an evil Utrom rather than just a living disembodied brain? Or maybe the Utrom's arch enemy.

About the Utrom scenario, there must have been a clear reason why niether Laird or Eastman wanted to use such a good concept on the original series, maybye because it was still relativly new in the comics, or simply because the producers wanted to use a peacful alien race as villians and they refused to allow that
TheRATKING

well krang was based off of the utroms so more may have been confused and thought that other utroms were other krang like and evil

I too agree with the Baxter turned to normal, but the villians never have happy endings. Baxter wanted to be human again I remember in episodes in season 3 and was mad at his new state in enter the fly. I don't know why they left a baxter a fly until the end. If he turned into a human in whatever last ep he was in, they should have had the people put baxter back the aslyum and lock in there for life, with more security since there was obviously no security since shredder broke him out in return of the shredder, or until they are sure he fully rehabilitates his ways.
They could have explained why Krang used a buble walker.
Why not show all the unused scripts. I heard there was a shredder in love script.

I'm mostly happy with the old toon but a few things I would've liked:
- Cam Clarke sticking to the more mature voice he gave Leo in season one instead of getting more whiny (but I think that would be the fault of the voice director?)
- The animation being as good as it was in season one throughout the series
- Irma getting a nice, steady guy at some point, maybe even getting married
- April NOT wearing yellow (pink or lilac would've looked better with her colouring) and changing her clothes a bit more
- The Foot Soilders being human instead of robots
- The TMNTs actually using their weapons and Mikey being allowed to keep his 'chunks until the end of the series...I know it was aimed at young kids and the parents didn't like the weapons/violence it but come on.
Otherwise I have no real complaints. :)

Well, had the Foot Soldiers been humans then the TMNT would NEVER have gotten to use their weapons. I liked the robot Foot Soldiers concept. That way Raph and Leo actually got to hack and chop the enemy rather the doing crap like cutting-the-rope-supporting-a-load-of-bricks-that's-conveniently-hanging-over-the-enemy's-head.
Oh, and in addition to my earlier post I'd like to have seen LESS of Irma, Verne and Burke. Didnn when I was a kid.

I heard that Burne, IRma and Vernon were taken out of the show in season 8 and were in the first half of season 8 and never in 9 and 10. When I watched the unaired eps of season 10 on my dvd it seemed different without them and their news antics.

"Different" as in "better"? I thought so.
I rather liked the Red Sky episodes, the ones I have seen anyway. They tried to revive the series with a more mature approach and the show did improve in both writing nad animation. I also liked the TMNT's new bandanas that gave them a meaner appearance.

I totally agree with all of that exept for the Foot being real humans. The show was already very SciFi with the Technodrome, Dimention X, and a list of other things. Besides, like it was stated by others, It's so satisfying to see Leonardo and Raphael strike there opponents with there weapons.

I agree on the Leo voice. Leo sounded more serious, mature and leaderish in the first eps. When the show became a series, Leo's voice got all whiney. Same with Rocksteady, he sounded fierce and dangerous. Later his voice also got whinier making him sound cowardly and wimpier.

I think the reason Cam changed his voice was because he was supposed to sound more like a teenager, or one who's voice is in the process of changing from high to low. They're all supposed to be around 14 or 15 years old and Cam definitely sounded like his age. Not saying I had a problem with that, :D , but, I guess the voice director Sue Blu felt he should sound younger and boyish. *shrug* Of course, one of us could ask Cam himself why the change?

I would have liked to see a REAL series finale.
In a two-part episode, the Technodrome comes back to Earth with the entire army of Rock Soldiers, and destroys the entire City, triggering the Turtles' anger.
With the help of the army as a decoy, the Turtles and Splinter get in the Technodrome and face Krang and Shredder. Splinter is decided to make Shredder pay for what he has done to him and to the Foot Clan, and the ultimate duel begins between them.
Meanwhile, the 4 Turtles are fighting Krang in his upgraded body, and manage to destroy it (i don't care how). In the end, the Technodrome will be finally destroyed, Krang sent back to Dimension X forever, and Shredder brought to justice (there are laws for humans^^ )....
God, just thinking of it, I get excited ^^

I agree with X-FLO.
I also think there should have been:
--More Casey
--Less Neutrinos
--Human Foot Soldiers instead of robot ones
--Cure for Baxter
--Cures maybe for Bebop and Rocksteady (if they wanted one--doubtful)
--Krang's death (forget exile)
--Shredder's death (forget trial--he'd probably walk)

Baxter being human again was something I hoped would happen every time I saw a new baxter ep..but it never happened. And Shredder always promised him too... poor baxter.
It would have been cool to see Casey take his mask off just once...
April changing her outfit.. she finally did in the last few seasons, but it sure took her long enough
Make a better Wingnut and Screwloose episode.
A Scumbug origin episode. Where did he come from anyway?
Vernon actually gets a chick. Somehow I don't see that happening.
How Krang and Shredder met, and more of Krang's background.

Well, I vaguely remember there being an episode where Shredder turned them human again so they could work as spies or something at Channel 6. When they looked in the mirror they got all sad and Rocksteady said something along the lines of "Awwww...and i was just getting used to being a rhino."
How Krang and Shredder met, and more of Krang's background.
I also vaguely recall an episode where they showed Krang before he lost his body. Can't rememebr what he looked like, though. All I remember is Don doing the narration and saying he got "booted out of Dimension X". Not much to go on, I know...

MOST cartoons have the characters voices sound different in the beginning and have a perminant change later on. I noticed krang's voice sounded different in the piolet as did of bebop and rocksteady and shredder's, leo and mikey's voices sounded different in the first ep and Vernon's voice sounded different in the piolet.
