Well, having purchased the season 1 DVD of the classic TMNT show, i my interest in TMNT has been renewed a little. I decided to dig through storage and see what I could come up with. When we last moved I didn't bother to pack up my old toys myself so I knew the movers probably threw it all in a box and I probably lost a lot of stuff. I went into my search with an open mind.
First off the bad news, there were a couple of casualties. My Turtle Pizza Shooter was broken to peices, and my Neutrino car/Footcruiser was scratched to heck and backl and was missing one of its antenas which ticked me off to no end. (If anyone has an extra anteana and would sell it to me for $2-$3 I would really appreciate it.)
The good news is that, besides half the stupid turtle variants in wacky outfits that were busted up and missing parts, my core collection remained relaticely unharmed and in surprisingly good condition.
I got most of these guys in 1989-1992 so they have some play wear on them. I expected them to be far worse off than they were. I was thrilled that so much had survived. The turtles were missing most of those ninja stars and little dagger weapons they came with but I found a couple of them. Besides that the rest were pretty much complete with thier accesories. They have minor play wear but all in all are in great shape!! There is a shelf above my window that I wasn't using for anything and it now proudly displays my classic collection that includes the following:
Splinter (outfit, belt, Bow and Arrow and cane/knife all intact)
Leonardo (Both Katanas and belt intact)
Donatello (Both Bos, but one loop holder broken off belt)
Rapheal (Both Sais, trangular dagger, and belt intact)
Michelangelo (Both Nunchucks and belt INTACT!)
April (Case and flashlight, the camera/gun was lost apparantly :( )
Casey Jones (Bag, golf putter and both baseball bats intact)
Usagi Yojimbo (All three swords and staff intact!)
Ray Filet (Harpoon and little fish stix guy intact)
Krang (Bubble walker and all accesories intact)
Shredder(cape, belt, and Katana intact)
Foot Soldier (Two knives, rest missing)
Foot Soldier (Mace weapon, rest missing)
Bebop (Drill, Knife, Trash can lid intact)
Rocksteady (Rifle, Sewer sheild, belt, knife intact)
Slash (Belt, Sai, Mace, Knife, Nunchuck all intact)
I also found the complete Turtle Blimp, and inflated it and sat it on the top shelf of my dresser. So I have all those figures I listed set up on the shelf above my window and the blimp on my dresser. Not bad considering those were childhood playthings. I was surpised they held up so well.
Not perfect, but heck I'd think ANY collector would be more than happy to have a small set like that in such good shape considering how old they all are. It hits a nostalgic twinge each time I enter my room now. I am quite happy.
