Articulated Fingers Problem

How can you make the Fightin' Gear and Space Hoppin' Turtles hold their weapons with the new articulated fingers? I can't get their fingers to grasp their weapons, the weapons always fall out of their hands. Does anyone know how I can get them to hold their weapons? Does anyone else have this problem with the figures?

I didn't open those particular figures, but a good way to ensure that weapons stay in your figures hands, is to use those small thin clear elastic bands. Like the ones you always find with Star Wars figures. The Toddler Turtles also came with those little bands. You can get packages of these bands at dollar shops. I found them in black, clear, and multi colored packs. :)
