View Full Version : Coming Out Of Their Shells
I don't know where this belongs so I placed it on the General TMNT board.
Anyhoo, I just want to know what you guys thought of the old musical tour that occurred a while back called, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Coming Out of Their Shells Tour".
Did you like it? Did you hate it? Did you think it was a good idea or a bad one? Did you buy the soundtrack? Should they re-release the video and/or soundtrack?
What do you think?

It's so corny, it makes a laugh fest! :D
Shredder had a dumb costume and he sings in one song that's solely his own called "I Hate Music!" I don't understand why Shredder's song wasn't placed on the soundtrack especially since the whole show revolved around his hating music and wanted it destroyed worldwide. Shredder even made Baxter build a machine for him to throw record disks in and they burst out of hoses, held by Foot Soldiers, as confetti to shower over the audience. One of those records happened to be New Kids on the Block if my memory serves me right!
Then there's the male reporter who takes April's place once she's kidnapped. He has to go to the basement where the Turtles fled. The Turtles are trying to figure out a plan but don't figure one out fast enough to please the reporter so he thinks they are being cowardly and calls them "weenies" which gets them all riled up!

It was pretty good, it stayed true to the original cartoon series,
The "Coming out of thier Shells" song is the only worthwhile one, check it out on X-Entertainment.com

There have been a dozen threads about this. But yeah, it's so horrible that it's funny. Splinter's head was so damn huge, and it sounded like Neil Diamond dubbed his singing.
Yeah, I didn't know about the other threads, though. I'm sorry about that.
But I found it kind of ironic that Shredder sings a song about hating music. Even when I was little I sported a furrowed forehead in confusion to that. I liked it, though. I even liked when he acted all Don Rickles on the kids during intermission.
And I agree that his song should have been on the soundtrack.
Although my favorite song was "Pizza Power". And not because it was featured in the Turtles in Time arcade/video game.

 The whole publicity stunt (I call it a stunt because you would have to be high to put on such a show) was silly, rediculous and degrading for the TMNT. On top of that, half the songs are lame. The other songs are ok (like "Cowabunga" and "Pizza Power").

My brother bought me The Making of TMNT coming out of their shells for Christmas. We had a really good laugh at that. The video features the Turtles "preparing" for their upcoming concert. Raph and Mike just throw surf jargon at each other.
"Wow, Mikey, like, how about this stuff?"
"Whoa, Cowabunga Raph!"
"Yeah, Radical Dude!"
"Yeah, Awesome!"
"Hey, Tubular!"
Something like that. It's a pretty good laugh. I bet Laird's head would melt if he saw it.
You've got the Making Of...? I've never seen that. Do you still have it?

I've never seen it. I saw it for sale in a used video store a few months ago though.

I haven't seen any of the live action videos(except for the movies). The costumes look weird from the images I have seen of them.

I've still got it. There's a goodwill tag on it, so it could originaly have come from anywhere.

I have the tape, making of, and the soundtrack :tlol: I like it despite the silliness of it all. I love the songs, they amuse me. Actually I just listened to the soundtrack today heh.
I love the corniness of it. But I agree with RATKING what he says to anyone who didn't see it. There really wasn't anything to...KROW about.
Sorry, couldn't help it.

Well, I didn't know you lived there. I'm from Upstate New York, myself.

The Making of the Tour tape showed the Turtles wearing neat clothes! I wished they wore those same clothes in the real Tour show!
And I totally digged Donatello's clothes in the Making Of tape! He wore purple boots, purple elbow pads, and wrist pads, all of which had tassles hanging off them. There were glittery black & white yin yang symbols all along his purple belt and purple knee pads and a yin yang on each elbow pad! I thought he looked awesome but purple happens to be my favorite color so maybe I thought he made a good mannequin wearing those clothes I wish I had. :embarass:

This picture from my video case of the Making Of tape doesn't do his clothes justice since the tassles on the boots don't stand out that well so you have to watch to video to get a real good look at how neat they are! I think the tassles on those boots have a black bead on each of them judging from the picture (on the real case not by this crappy scan) but it's been too long since I've watched this tape to be certain those beads are really there. :goofygri:
Donatello is...PRINCE!
Sorry.

*thinks real hard* The Turtles in the Tour sound too much alike to me. Even listening to the soundtrack I can't pick which Turtle belongs to which voice as they're so similiar. Just like the live-action Christmas fiasco, one voice was used for all the Turtles so they couldn't be unique but a chorus of echoes instead.
 I...CAN'T...RESIST...
Yo...there's Donatello
Even for a Turtle, he's mellow!
It's lyric time!

Did anyone notice that the male reporter that took April's Spot in the show is the old host of "Super Market Sweep"!

I had the cassette of the songs (which I've misplaced somewhere...) and the video of it, which was accidentally taped over. They carried the tape for YEARS at my Toys R Us, until I taped over mine... Now I can't find it anywhere. I'd just like to have it... for old times sake.

The tour was dorky and publicity and blah but I AM A TURTLESSLUT ;_; Loved every second of it.... even if it did involve mad giggling ^_^; oh man...Mikey...hahhahahahah
I'm gonna sing if everyone doesn't mind.
Growin' up in a glass bowl,
With chameleons, lizards, and tadpoles,
It hardly enters your mind that there's somethin' better than this.
A lettuce leaf and a carrot,
Maybe a seed from a parrot,
Believe me when I tell you the word "gourmet" just don't exist.
But pizza power,
A flyin' saucer food delight,
Pizza power,
Aw, that's what makes us feel alright.

Now word up, I got a story to tell
It starts way back when we were comin' out of our shells
Back then we were little, swimmin' in a bowl
But somethin' happened when we fell down that manhole!
Don't need to tell you what you already know
You should remember that we all have to grow.
Everybody does it in a different way
So keep on walkin' tall; That's what the Turtles say!
Walk Straight! (Don't need to muuutaaaaaate!)
Mutate! (Never got to mutate got to...)
Walk Straight! (Don't need to muuutaaaaaate!)
Mutate! (Baby if you're walking_)
STOP IT!!!! :o :o :o
I'm loving it, guys! And I ain't talking about McDonalds!!

I love it, i love it, i love it......my fave tmnt: coming out of their shells song....i used to have all the soundtracks (thre movies and cofts) but either sold them before my move to italy....with all my old TMNT figs (i was an idiot) or the got totaly destroied by my constant play.
Very well, I shall continue.
And then we all began changing,
Our size was all rearranging,
It led us to discover the kind of food that we like best--Tell 'em Raph!
It isn't burgers or french fries,
That work for turtles of our size,
Ice cream, cake, or apple pie they don't even pass the test--dude!
But pizza power,
Is the thing that keeps us goin',
Pizza power,
Is the food worth askin' for,
Pizza power,
We take great comfort in knowin',
That pizza power,
Can be delivered to your door!
And no I do not have the lyrics with me. This is all from memory, baby! :D
:tpizza: :tpizza: :tpizza: :tpizza: :tpizza:
Might as well finish it! :D
Pizza Power
Makes our Turtle bells start ringin'
Pizza Power
Pizza Power
It's the reason we are singin'
Pizza Power (Eat it anytime of day!)
Pizza Power
When it comes to food that's what we say!
Pizza Power
Pizza Power
Always better the next day!
Pizza Power
Pizza Power makes us feel alright!
Pizza Power makes us feeeeeeeeel alriiii-eee-iii-eee-iiii-ii-iii-ii-ii-ight! :D
