That's an awesome pic.
How come the art quality in the comic has degenerated so much between then and now? The guy doodling the book currently must be in middle school or something...

Here we go again...you do realise it's the same guy who did the amazing City at War and Return to New York stuff? As well as tonnes of other really neat turtles comic book art
As for the picture, that's really cool. I have that Tales issue and I don't recall it being in there just as you said. But I'll check

Too bad he broke all his fingers and cut his palms.
And you people seem to have a strange misconception about criticism. Oh yeah, I forgot. It's TMNT and you're TMNT fanboys. You're not allowed to dislike anything about the franchise.

Get off your high horse you p*ick, that artwork is more dynamic and slightly better than Laird's current MIRAGE work, you seem to go out of your way to slam these things.
If you don't like it, don't read it and waste everyone's time moaning about it like a baby

Very cool find! Awesome art, too!
And do we really have to get into this "Lawsons art sucks" thing in every thread? It's getting really ****ing annoying. Sure, I like his older work a lot more than his newer stuff, but it still doesn't suck. It works great for the TMNT.

Hmmm....I've "gotten on my high horse" and "slammed" the guy's work...ohhh...twice. Maybe 3 times. Hardly "every thread". You seem paranoid, ready to jump down the throat of anyone who dare question Mirage. Oh well.

Actually, the same middle schooler that's doodling the current series ALSO DREW THAT AWESOME PIC THAT YOU'RE PRAISING.
One main difference is that he also inked the picture you're praising, whereas he does not ink the current series. The inks on the first 2-3 issues of the current series were just INCREDIBLE. Since then, I think they've really kind of deteriorated, culminating in the latest issue, #16, where some panels seem pretty sloppy.

2I aslo think he's changed his style.....Even if he was still inking it himself, the art would look different.

Did I attack you back? No
You're allowed your opinion and I'm allowed my opinion on your opinion
I was just voicing that I, like many others, are sick of seeing the 'I hate Jim Lawson' stuff

And I am one of them. I dislike his new style too, but I don't say so in every fricken thread.

Alright, he's a good artist when he wants to be.
There. I'll just leave it at that and we can drop it. No more "Lawson-bashing".

Before the Lawson thing is dropped I do have one question. Why is he still on the current book if most people don't like his art? Don't they worry about sales or anything? Shouldn't he be replaced if so many people dislike it? Maybe he works for free or something, I don't know. Anybody know?

He's still on the book because Pete wants him on the book, and Pete gets what he wants. It's his way or no way.

I think there's a few reasons
A. He's a Mirage veteran. He did some of the greatest work on other books(in my opinion)
B. Art isn't everything in a comic book
C. I think TMNT have enough loyal fans that it doesn't matter too much to Peter about what would 'appear' to be a large dislike of his art (I'm not too sure it's large and widespread)
D. Volume 4 carries continuing stories and Laird probably feels his style suits that method of story telling and once people get hooked they generally don't stop buying anyway

ANother reason he's still on it isbecause comics that keep a consistent creative team are usually a lot more popular and better. Just look at Ultimate SPiderman.....It's pat 60 issues and has had the same writer, artist, etc. for every issue, and it's one of the biggest comics out there nowadays.
