i decided to make a new thread for these pics, so i dont have to fill up the toy sightings thread with these. these pics are taken by JaffleMan, so much props to him for takin the time to get us these.. as far as i know they're released all over australia but no sighting have been reported in the US...

Wow that's so old school! It reminds me of when they used to sell ooze with the mini baby turtle/rat/half mutated turtle! I hope they release it over here in the good ol' U.S. of A.

I wonder why Dan Berger doens't have any of it on the site/in his collection? Is it made by playmates?

JaffleMan

These sell for a maximum of $8AU here in Aus which unlike you dudes in Canada, it's about half the price of a normal figure. I can get them for around $6AU when stores have sales.

The current exchange rate is $1AUD= 0.686870USD

So they're between $4 to $5.50 USD a can.

Here's the stock and assortment numbers for anyone who wants them:

Asst: #54250
Stock#: 54252

Also, just wondering if you Canadian's have noticed that the ooze in these cans is a lot more slimey than the stuff out of the figure packs.

I don't know if you can notice in my pics but the ooze from the mini figs is a lot lighter than the ooze from the larger figures.

Would anyone be interested in helping me obtain these Ooze cans? I'd prefer to find someone a little closer to the US, like in Canada. Shipping would also be more economical this way. I have a bunch of Turtle stuff to trade if anyone is interested.

No problem on my end, Tokka. Hey look, my name and hand on the front page of Mikey's TMNT! I'm, like, Ninja Turtle Internet Famous now! (Take that, hand twin!) :goofygri:

The ooze is definitely made by Playmates, by the way. Little logo on the canister and everything. Weird that a Playmates rep hasn't even heard of the stuff, and weirder yet that they're not selling it in the US, of all places.

I'd always thought the ooze was one of the coolest bits of merchandising from the old toy line... I mean, the figures and vehicles are cool, but an actual can of the ooze that mutated the TMNT? What a great idea! I remember playing with the stuff on the kitchen floor when I was a tot. My mum made me play with it on a cooking sheet, so I wouldn't make a mess. Covering Mikey in ooze and having him mutate back into a little off-white glow in the dark turtle? Good times, my friends. :)

So naturally, when I saw a can of the stuff, my head was filled with tingly nostalgia goodness and I had to have it.

Initially, I figured there would just be one of the standard mini-figures inside, but the baby turtles were a pleasant surprise. I'm sorely tempted to go grab the Donny and Mikey canisters, just to complete the four. I only picked up the Raph canister because I had managed to drop the Leo ooze at school and ruin it (all full of hair and little rocks from the lecture theatre carpet, ecch), but now I've only got two of the baby TMNT and that's just not right at all, now is it?

Anyway, if you've got the means to pick some of this stuff up, I highly recommend it. It's surprisingly fun to just goosh the stuff between your fingers.

Actually I believe that is a national law...strange cuz here in florida you see vendors selling those quarter size ones on every corner...the only way you can officially get away with it is to say you are selling them for "educational purposes"...then its ok...but not as pets..thats a no no...But i did pick 2 of em up back in college and there still with me all growed up, one about 9" the other 7"..names are Curly and Raul.. :P

Just a quick question.

Is it CONFIRMED that you guys (and gals :P) won't be getting these in the US?

Cause if there isn't any luck on the Canadian front I can help out. Might wait until the next sale and get a few sets (depending on interest) and ship them to the one US address to save on postage and that person could ship them to everyone else.

That's very wierd that these aren't in the US. I thought they definitely would be considering it's home to the Turtles and all, and they're done by Playmates. You can find them basically everywhere in Australia. I haven't actually purchased one yet, but I think I remember it even mentioning to watch the FOX BOX on it (just like the figures packaging does), but that being not applicable to those in Australia since it isn't available in Australia.

IMO, these are useless. Just another way for kids to get messy. You ever try to get that crap of the carpet? The ooze gets all hairy and disgusting. And those mini-turtles look like something you'd get at those 25-cent toy vending machines at the supermarket.

A big container of slimy goop and a small plastic turtle with a bandana painted on it so as to look like a TMNT for $7 or more? Stupid.

If we (in the US) do end up getting confirmation that we won't be seeing these on the shelves, and you're willing, I would like to organize this with you. If it matters, I have over 150 positive eBay feedbacks (no negative), and threads around different forums with positive feedback.

Well, Bry Katz, to answer your question, I am commenting on this thread to give the other side of the coin. Perhaps people would like to know the bad part of buying merchandise. Just because it's TMNT doesn't mean you should automatically get it. Some toys in ALL forms of media are crap.

I'm only stating the fact: Let the buyer beware.

O.K, this is going to be very very bad news for the ultra completists out there so if you don't want to hear it, don't scroll down.

FOUND A VARIATION IN THE OOZE CONTAINERS! :dead:

I was going around today to all the shops and I noticed Myers were now stocking these. Instantly I noticed the cans were a lot darker shade of green the the previous sets. Went into k-Mart later and they had a new box of these out, all the dark green cans, they also had some light green cans among the racks from old stock so It was very easy to compare the clours against eachother. So now for those who must have everything, there is both a light and dark green variation of the ooze itself.

It's a small canister of green slime, with a little Baby Turtle figure inside. I don't think anyone needs 'warning' about the stuff. It's pretty straightforward, dude.

And really, someone coming into a toy forum and saying that all toys are essentially 'useless' is just "the other side of the coin" as well, so I don't see your point. If I were having a pleasant discussion with some friends of mine, and someone else walked up and joined in just so he could disagree with us, it'd strike me as pretty rude. Not saying you don't have the right to join in, of course, but I'm just curious what the point was...

If you think the Ooze is stupid? Fine, don't buy any! But hey, I really dig the stuff, and I'll probably buy some more. I hope that doesn't mean you'll feel that you have to 'convince me otherwise' or anything, hmm?

KROW
06-27-2004, 12:28 PM
Well, that's fine. I'm not saying anything bad. Especially not to anyone who wants to buy this ooze stuff. I'm just saying it's not all it's cracked up to be. Go ahead and buy it if you like it. Nothing wrong with that.

I wasn't saying there was a health warning on the ooze or anything. I was just saying that it may not be a great purchase. That's all.

So if you buy it, have fun and I hope you enjoy. I didn't chime in just to bash the product. Only to say it's not that wonderful a product, in my opinion.

No need to get P.Oed. :)

Jaffleman, in your opinion, which color do you like best? Dark or Light Ooze? That's interesting to know, thanks for posting that info. I'm also still interested in obtaining the Ooze from you. I probably won't find anyone else who's willing to get the cans for ppl in the US. I'm also interested in the cardboard display If you can get it. If you want to try to set this up please PM me. :)

JaffleMan
06-27-2004, 07:24 PM
As for which colour I prefer, the lighter colour ooze is better, I think it has a more slimey cinsistency, the dark colour ones are the same colour (or close enough to it) as the cans that come with the larger mutations figures so I think they have the same consistency as them too which is a lot thicker.

I think a few people were interested in these so as suggested I'll start a thread later to see who's interested. I'll wait until the next store sale and then get maybe between 3 and 6 sets and also how ever many store displays they will alow me to take (they usually are pretty happy for me to take them but you get the occasional know all tight arse) then I'll weigh them up and get postage quotes from the post office. And before anyone asks in case there are more than 6 people wanting sets 6 sets is the maximum I'm getting under any circumstance, don't want to buy 10 sets and then have 4 people pullout leaving me stuck with 4 of them.

Well so far I think there are two interested parties, TMNTGal and the Cloneranger.

Well this is what I'll do, when a sale starts, I'll get 3 sets and take tham home, bubblewrap them all etc and make a mock packaging and take it into the post office to get a quote, from there I can estimate total postage costs for any additional sets i send which will alow me to go back and purchase a few more for anyone else who is still interested (in case shipping costs deter people). But regardless 6 sets is the maximum I'm getting. If all goes well and people want more, I might be able to arrange a second package.

EDIT: Just pulled out the display box from storage, it holds 24 ooze cans which coincidently is 6 sets of 4 which would work out perfectly. For those wanting pics, you'll have to wait for the batteries for my cammerra to recharge. Hopefully will get them up tomorrow.

Once they get stateside, regardless of who Jaffelman ships them to, that person should take the total cost of the package (6 sets, plus AUS shipping), divide that by 6, and that's how much everyone owes, correct? Plus shipping, from one US address to another, of course.

That seems like it would be the fairest for everyone, paying a flat rate, and the person who is acting as the US "hub" for the trade would still pay 1/6th of the shipping from Australia, but not have any additional US shipping. That would leave 5 sets to be shipped by that person, and the fact that they're getting their's "direct" as a small incentive for handling it.

TMNTGal
06-27-2004, 09:49 PM
That seems fair since everyone pays the exact same amount. Payment of the product + equally divided AUS shipping should be paid directly to Jaffleman. Then the extra US to US address shipping should be paid directly to the "hub" so they can ship the packages.

Skabbz
06-27-2004, 09:51 PM
i dont get it, but i say go for it

JaffleMan
06-28-2004, 06:34 AM
Just weighed a can and it's not much under 200gram.

So 24 x200g is about 4800g and I'm adding another 1200 for packaging (even though i doubt it'll be that much) just for estimate sake.

Here are the postage costs to America from Australia for 5000g worth in Australian dollars.

Air mail $78.50 20kg
Economy Air $64.50 20kg
Sea mail $44.50 20kg

The costs were a bit more than I was expecting but anyway my best bet is to either send it via insured surface mail or by economy air (no way i will send regular surface mail).

So we are looking at $65AU for postage in australia diveded by 24 is about $2.75 postage per can. So that works to about $8.75AU per can plus what it will cost for individual shipping within the states which I have no idea what they'd be.

I couldn't decipher your postal calculator as I don't know my weights in pounds and don't know anything about your zipcodes. But heres the link for anyone who wants to find this out:

http://postcalc.usps.gov/

So just adding another 25c to each can just for safety (in case costs are way higher than expected) $9AU= $6.30US

So you'll be paying $6.30 a can plus what postage costs would be in America. Hopefully though the costs will be less than that.

And another thing that i didn't think of before that's been worrying me was the cost on my part. When I go in and buy these things it's gonna cost me abouit $140AU to buy them and an additional $60+ to post them so I'll be $200 out of pocket for a while which i simply can't afford at the moment. So as of the current moment it probably would be preferrable if I only got 2 or 3 sets and that being in order of who asked for them which was :

TMNTgal, Skaabz and the Cloneranger.

But hopefully the next sale won't be until some and that will allow me to get some urgent funds together and maybe that will allow me to get more than 2 or 3 sets.

Later I'll get around to trying to estimate the prices if there are only 2 or 3 sets purchased. Too tired after all of that.

uhhh. so is it gonna cost me 65$ shipping for a set of 4?

TMNTGal
06-28-2004, 12:36 PM
I think it would be best to start with the 3 most interested parties, Clone Ranger, Skabbz, & myself.

4 Cans per person would be 12 altogether.

200g (per can) X 12 (cans) = 2,400g

You originally calculated the packing cost for 24 cans, half of the original 1,200g weight would now be 600g.

2,400g (weight of cans) + 600g (new shipping) = 3,000g

I'm just going to round up here. 3,000g is closest to 7 pounds.

Can you get us a new shipping calculation based on this weight? This way we can pay you in advance so you will have no problems purchasing the cans. :)

What's wrong with economy surface? I've used this method many times and I've never had a problem. True it does take about 4 weeks to arrive but it's the most economical. As long as you pack securely and wrap the box in paper it should arrive safely.

TheCloneRanger
06-28-2004, 12:38 PM
Working with VERY rounded numbers, we're looking at $6.12 a can, or appr. $24.48 for a whole set. Plus US-to-US shipping...$30 for a set, TOPS.

Jaffleman gave us the high-end estimated on the shipping, and I don't think it will be quite that much. Alot of shipping (here anyway) is actually having an item enter the parcel system, rather than adding more kg to the box (to a point).

I'd guestimate we're looking at $25-$30, American, for a set of 4 ooze cans. Am I right in my figuring?

(Edit: I was typing my post while TMNTgal was typing her's, so it may seem a little redundant)

JaffleMan
06-28-2004, 07:03 PM

I purposely did that as I didn't want to say it'd be about $6US a can when it turns out to be $7US a can or whatever as it could root the whole show up.

To answer TMNTgals question Iv'e just heard bad reports of the treatment of parcels via uninsured surface mail, Iv'e never sent anything this way before but what other people have said has always dettrerred me. I can ship them this way if there are no objections evenm though i wouldn't be too keen on it, even if I did abolutely cover everything in Bubble wrap.

EDIT: and to answer Skaabz question, it'll cost at most $65 to send 24 cans. I'm just goiung to work out smaller shipping rates and get back to you all.

EDIT: These are the shipping rates for 1 set (1000g)

Air mail $27.50 20kg
Economy Air $22.50 20kg
Sea mail $17.50 20kg

For two sets (2000g)

Air mail $48.50 20kg
Economy Air $39.50 20kg
Sea mail $29.50 20kg

For 3 sets (3000g)

Air mail $60.50 20kg
Economy Air $49.50 20kg
Sea mail $35.50 20kg

And those prices are all in AU$$ NOT US$$

So wehn you look at it, sending 3 sets divided by 3 by sea mail is about $12AU Where it will be $17.50 if sent individually. That's only a difference of $5.50 AU per set if sent individually which i guess will be almost the amount it's going to cost you guys to send them to eachother in the US as $5.50AU= $3.85US.

So in other words if it's going to cost more than $3.85US to post each set from one US location to another, it's better off just shipping each set from Australiaindividually and theres less hassle.

EDIT (AGAIN): Also it works roughly out to about $44AUD a set sent regular surface mail which would equal $28US a set sent individually. And bare in mind there may be an extra few dollars in conversion fees through the currencys.

And also once a sale does pop up I'll start another thread for confirmation on this to arrange everything for real.

Just a quick update, it seems Target down here will be having their annual toy sale on June the 22nd. Last time they did this, TMNT were 33% off their marked price, if this year follows suit I'll be starting to obtain a few sets by then.

Also k-Mart is having a sale on July 8th but I'm not sure if TMNt will be in the catalouge, I'll keep you updated on this.

There is also a rumour that Big W (Walmart) will be having a toy sale too really soon, unfortunately they are major rip offs and I doubt the cans will be much cheaper than regular retail. But you never know.

Big W have in their catalouge the cans at $6 AU each for tomorrow. I wil;l be able to find out what k-Mart is charging on their sale tomorrow as well.

But the thing is Targets sale starts on the 22nd and i have a feeling i can get the cans for under $5AU a piece. So for those partie's interested should i buy them at the $6 price tomorrow or wait and see if Target has a cheaper cans on the 22nd. The problem is that by the time Targets sale starts the K-Mart and Big W sales will have ended and there is no guarantee Target will be cheaper with the cans. i will also be going to these to stores n Sunday as well in case anyone needs time to think about their options.

And I still have to see what k_mart is charging.

(I replied a couple of hours ago but got a time-out and just realized my post never showed up)

Keeping in mind that $1 AUS is a little less than $1 USD, and if it's alright with you JaffleMan, I'd like to vote to go with this sale. Since there's three of us buyers involved, we'll be able to get a clear vote, and I'll of course go along with what ever the majority decides.

I'm not the kind that likes to take chances when there's a sure thing. :)

Well todays sale at K-Mart has ooze containers at $5.50.

So thats one set for TCL. Others have until Sunday to choose (bear in mind Sunday over here is about half a day before yours) over whether you want to take advantage of this sale or risk it with waiting for targets one.

Also be sure to specify which colour you want (dark or light). I'll be getting a light set today as it seems harder to get and looks nicer in my own opinion.

You already know my choice as I PMed you about it before. I would like a Light set and an extra Leo if you are able to get one. Thanks.

I'm very easy on the colour...even if the set isn't all the same colour. All I ask is for one of each TMNT. :)

O.K, heres the go, I went into Big W first today to get a few figures for myself from other lines and noticed the cans were $5AU each, $1 cheaper than advertised so i got one set as they only had the dark green and I planned on getting a few of the light green cans from K-Mart and price matching them. Unfortunately when i went to K-Mart they were extremely busy and had sold out all the light green, the toy guy even came out with another box for me but all were the dark green. So I didn't get any additional sets in case you guys wanted light green.

So I have one dark green set on hand now and can obtain another two dark green sets on Sunday. So is it OK for those wanting light green sets if I got dark green instead?

If so let me know before Sunday.

OK, I have now got 3 sets plus one extra Leo for TMNT gal and all up that cost $64.10AU which translates roughly to $46.25 USD.

So this works out roughly to $3.60 US a can.

So so far TMNT Gals costs for 5 cans are $18US or about $25AU whilst Skabbz and TCL are at $14.40US or $20AU for a set of 4 cans each.

Only thing to work out now is shipping costs.

Currently surface mail will work out to about $35.50AU, just be aware it may be slightly higher or lower than this amount but that's roughly the amount it will cost. $35.50AU is about $26USD. So divide that by 13 and it equals $2USD a can for shipping from Australia to the US.

So everybody is looking at about $5.60US a can shipped, just be aware it could be a couple dollars higher.

I plan to send these out Tuesday so if everyone agrees with shipping these out to TMNT gal via surface mail then it is settled. I would recommend insuring the package for $60AU in the advent the package is lost but that is your choice. I'm not sure how much this insurance would cost but i'm guessing $5AU which divided by 3 is only $1.30 USD for everyone.

And as to payment, there will be an international conversion fee which i am not sure what the amount would be. Instead of paying individually and costing a fortune, I'd recommend everyone pay TMNTGal their share and she will pay me via international Money order or whatever other method of payment seems more apropriate. I will wait until the actual package arrives at TMNTgal's home before I even expect the Money order to be sent as it would be more convenient when working out costs.

So in short I suggest i send the package this Tuesday via surface mail (insured or not depending on what you guys'n gals want) and will wait until the package arrives at TMNT gals place. She works out the costs and gets everyone to pay her and then she will pay me.

And I'm not worried if I get payed back the money 6 months later, just as long as I get it. Jsut in case anybody was concerned about that issue. I will also be sending the two receipts from big w along with the package.

So you decided to send to me? Cool, I'll let you guys know the day the package arrives. Jaffleman, If you need to communicate with me at any time please email me. ([email protected]) PMs are fine too. :)

I PMed you my address.

I think it would be best to Insure the package.

The best way to get the correct amount would be after the package is shipped. This way you can add the actual cost of shipping to the price you spent on the cans.

So, everyone's looking at the Price Of The Cans + AUS Shipping + Insurance.

Clone Ranger & Skabbz will have an extra amount for US Shipping. You two will have to let me know which method you prefer.

Thank you again for taking the time out of your schedule to do this for us Jaffleman. :D

O.K, sent the package today and the total cost of postage including insurance was $39.50AU.

So when the package finally arrives (the woman at the post office said expect it to take 12 weeks so it will be a long wait) you'll have to work out the best way to get me the $103.60 AU ($64.10 ooze + $39.50 postage).

So everything else is in your hands. :)

EDIT: LOL, just noticed that at regular price that 13 cans cost $104 being at $8 each. So you guys are getting them almost at retail price which isn't bad. :P

Thanks Jaffleman! OK everyone here's the break down of what everyone is paying for. These are all in AUS Dollars.

Jaffleman Spent = $64.10 (13 Ooze Cans) + $39.50 (AUS Shipping) = $103.60 (AUS Dollars)

TMNTGal Pays:
- $4.93 AUS Per Can X5 ($24.65 AUS)
- ($13.17) AUS For Divided Shipping
TOTAL = $37.82 AUS

Clone Ranger Pays:
- $4.93 AUS Per Can X4 ($19.72 AUS)
- ($13.17 AUS) For Divided Shipping
TOTAL = $32.89 AUS

Skabbz Pays:
- $4.93 AUS Per Can X4 ($19.72 AUS)
- ($13.17) AUS For Divided Shipping
TOTAL = $32.89 AUS

Is Exactally $103.60 AUS

Clone Ranger & Skabbz will need to put in a little extra so I can ship them to you. I'll ship them any method you desire. Just let me know what you'd prefer.

I'll dig up the reference number on the receipt if it will help track the item. The post woman said to expect the package to take up to 12 weeks to arrive but from what iv'e heard it should take about 6-7 weeks. I think it's almost been that time now. :-?

Be sure to always save your receipts. I even keep a photo copy for each one. It will probably arrive in September, it will be around the time the lady said it would take to arrive.

Wow, that's really cool of you to take time out to send people the ooze canisters! I think I've seen them here(Ireland) but I'm not 100% positive. Next time I take a look around the toy stores I'll see if I can find them out of curiosity.

Got two numbers on the receipt. One is green next to "despatch note" and is 8832661 with feb 99 next to it.

The other number which I think is the actual number of the receipt is black in a pink space and is:

V 00 525981

Hold on to your receipts. I'm sure the Post uses those numbers for something. Since the box was insured they should have given you another receipt or number. Well I'm not sure how they mail stuff in your country but I'm assuming it's similar to what they do here.

I'll keep everyone updated.

The package arrived today! What a surprise to find some packages outside my door and one of them was the Ooze cans. Everything arrived safely. I like the little plastic loop they attached to the cans.

I have a question Jaffleman. Do the mini's have to be assembled or are other things inside the ooze cans? I was looking at the cans, you can't see through them since the Ooze is so thick, but I saw several little different colored things in there. Some are near the edges of the can. They were different colors and scattered inside the can. I'm still thinking if I should open my extra Leo to find out...

Just a little update, if anyone's interested, the ooze canisters are out in Ireland too. They're 7.99euro each. They don't come in a box though, they hang from a peg on card, with the ooze canister halfway through the card.

I'll let you guys know the total as soon as I get a reply from Jaffleman about the exchange rate. I used www.xe.com to give me an idea but he'll have to let me know the exact rate their using right now.

JaffleMan
09-13-2004, 09:40 PM
Great to hear they arrived safe and sound.

With payment, you can never guarantee the exchange rates will stay the same when everyones payed so I was thinking this.

How about TMNT Gal first ships the sets out to everyone and then that will confirm postage costs within the USA. And from there she gets a money order to send to me but does not send it straight away. Then from there she divides the money order charges accordingly and combines the US postage costs with Skabbz and TCL and then gets them to pay her. Once she's been payed she sends the money order out.

It may sound problematic but i think that's got to be the most convenient way as you guys won't have to pay TMNTgal twice for the money order and postage on seperate occasions.

Also it will prevent the event of having you guys pay the money and TMNTgal; going into the post office and finding the exchange rates have changed as it will mess the whole show up so it's better paying for the MO first to get accurate prices for everyone else to pay before she sends it off.

That is of course if MO is the best option.

As to the question about the figures they come assembled and do appear multicoloured in the ooze. When I opened my Mike, his skin appeared pink through the ooze but when i took him out the skin was indeed green.

TMNTGal
09-14-2004, 12:11 AM
That sounds even more confusing. It's late so maybe I'm not reading correctly...

The Ooze cans can be shipped for $4.30 including Tracking. They fit perfectly in the small Priority Mail cubes so I don't have to bother looking for boxes.

Global Priority Mail is $5 going to Australia in a flat rate envelope. This is the safest way to send the payment and it arrives in 4-7 days. I just checked the post office website and I don't see Australia listed as a country where you can send an International MO. I'll go to the PO and ask them to be sure. What kinds of MO's have you received in the past Jaffleman? The only other extra will be the MO fee.

Once I know that I'll divide everything equally and will let everyone know the total.

JaffleMan
09-14-2004, 03:59 AM
Iv'e never recieved a MO before but I know for fact they can be sent to America from Aus so assumed it would work both ways.

:-?
