Fusion was still a good game. Getting 100% of items in the game is just as satisfying as Super Metroid, and there are more clever speed-run/shark puzzles in the game to get items.
|
Yeah, I agree. Fusion is still great. It's just different.
|
Isn't Fusion the current game in chronicle order of the series so far?

I don't think Nintendo really knows what to do story-wise post Fusion so that's why all the sequels take place earlier in the series. |
So, things are/have been/will be pretty dead for awhile here. As we head into summer we're again cursed to play nothing, then get buried in the fall. I always tend to go back and get into some stuff I missed at this time of year and with stores trying their damnedest to push every 360/PS3 game they can out the door, it's a good time to pick up cheap games and fill the void.
I did just that and ended up with two games for $10 each. The Bureau (which is a word I can't spell for the life of me) and Lost Planet 3, both of which I finished. The Bureau is a disaster. It starts off bad, but seems serviceable enough. I was ok with it for the first little bit, but then you realize how incredibly poorly designed the missions are and how garbage the AI is and how it requires zero tactics. It tries to be Mass Effect with a few drops of XCOM and fails miserably. I somehow managed to stomach it until the end though. However, Lost Planet 3 was surprisingly good. It's nothing like the first two, but it's probably a better made game when all is said and done. It's very focused, the story is interesting and the main character is well written. It's slow and plodding, much like the rig (mech) you stomp around in a lot, but it does a lot of stuff well. It also connects all these weird dots in the Lost Planet universe, which is interesting, because nearly all my knowledge of that world is buried under mercs running around in Kobun heads and Frank West humping the ground. |
I'm thinking about getting Bravely Default since my brother's been playing it and wants someone to talk to about it. Anybody here have any opinions on it?
|
It's great. The best Final Fantasy Square has made in years and ironically it's not a Final Fantasy game.

Despite enjoying PopCap's other works and supporting local game companies when I can, I somehow had never played an incarnation of Peggle. That is, until last night, when I realized Peggle 2 is available on 360. Holy smokes I was up until midnight playing that shiz.

I downloaded Godus a few days ago. It's addictive despite its simplicity and rather repetitive tasks - but it's still not finished so hopefully it won't feel that way for much longer.

Speaking of wanting games but not pulling the trigger.... Has anybody played that new release Murdered Soul Suspect? I'm intrigued but was wanting someones personal opinion on the gameplay/story, etc. Some of those types of games I really enjoy others not so much. I did like Heavy Rain but waited to buy it til it came down in price. I think I paid like $20 when I picked it up a while back and felt it was worth that, not much more, but worth that. I never got into L.A. Noire, it just started to slowly for me... |

So yeah. Pretty slow paced but I liked it for what it was. The ghost stories and whatnot were neat. |

Started playing Watch Dogs yesterday. Haven't gotten far at all yet though.

Got Mario Kart 8 today as a super early birthday present so I could take advantage of the free game promotion. (My B-day's in August, so I wouldn't have been able to otherwise.) Can't wait to start Iggying it up! :D

Picked up some stuff cheap last week, so I've been playing some of that and some of the stuff that's just been on the shelf forever. I played The Walking Dead, that was really good. I had some fun messing around with Data East Arcade Classics for the Wii; it's been too long since I played Bad Dudes.
Before that I was playing Fight Night Round 4, I always liked that series. I had a blast in Legacy Mode until they made me retire at 155-0. I made all the main characters from the Rocky films and imported them into my career, which made it super-fun. On the whole, I liked the career mode better than the earlier games - especially since you aren't forced to look like a fat tub of sh*t once you hit 35, like the other games - but preferred the older control system, corner system between rounds, and training mini-games. The damage system was kind of whack, too; I'm spoiled from the older games and expecting guys' faces to look like hamburger meat after a good beating, but while some of the KOs in Round 4 are brutal - especially when you can keep beating them the whole way down to the ground - their faces aren't anywhere near as bloody and swelled up as in older games. Not a huge deal, just kind of a step backwards. My personal best Legacy fight, I won by KO about 15 seconds in against one of the CPU guys. He threw, and hit, exactly one punch, after which it only took a dozen shots to score a KO. In between all that stuff I finally finished making all 100 CAWs in WWE 2K14. That's always my go-to game in between playing other stuff, since I can play it for 5 minutes or an hour and get what I wanted from it. I was having fun with Blue Dragon, but I took a break from that when after 35 hours I was still on the first disc. I like it a lot, I just can't stay focused on big RPGs for too long. |
God of War. Pretty great
Also Fight Night Champion, Damn Isaac Frost keeps kicking my ass. |
Brother was over this week. As always, there was a few games played, but not as many as usual. We crammed two movies and a season of Archer into the mix.
Since I've had requests for the list in the past, I'll try to remember everything we played: -Slashers: The Power Battle -JNKBombers -Duck Game -TowerFall -Jojo's Bizarre Adventure -Jojo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle -BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend |
Steam summer sale hit. Bought a bunch of stuff, mostly old games I've been wanting for ages and some ironic purchases. Keep in mind I almost always get games incredibly late.
Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition Little Inferno [already beat it twice, I love it] Slender: The Arrival The Stanley Parable TMNT Out of the Shadows Goat Simulator My Best Friends: Cats & Dogs [this game is ****ing terrible and I nearly pissed myself laughing at it] Probably Archery Surgeon Simulator 2013 |
