You can turn this around on Bay haters, who just blindly claim everything he is associated with sucks, therefore not being able to form your own opinion.

I don't think this is the greatest movie ever made, or the greatest TMNT movie ever made. It's behind the 1st movie. The Nick cartoon is better than the 2014 movie. My idea of a TMNT movie, is better than this movie. Why I continue to defend the movie, is because it's not a complete piece of trash. It's not difficult to follow along with the story. It's pretty effing simple actually. To suggest it's confusing because you're not sure if April is the main character is just silly. She has no plot importance past leading Shredder to the Turtles in the first 30 minutes of the movie. She is the character who gets the turtles to where they need to go.

I have seen some absolutely terrible movies, and the TMNT movie is not even close to being as bad as some of you are saying. If you go into movies looking for things to tear apart, I feel bad for you, because you're missing out on actually enjoying a movie experience. If more people would just go see a movie and relax and just let the movie happen, and form their own opinions they might actually start liking some movies.

Out of all these super hero movies, not a lot of them have strong plots, and most of them have cliche villains. A lot of you people wish TMNT was something it's not, and never will be. Eastman and Laird sold out very early on to make TMNT a children's toy. There will never be a Turtles movie for adults. Accept it and move on.

I liked the movie, a TON of people liked the movie. It's going to win this weekend, and there will be sequels. I suggest you just go to the sections or threads where you can talk about the TMNT that you like. Your vitriol will change nothing. The lot of you come off as snobby know it alls, who think they know what makes a good movie, but a lot of you are just parroting what you've read or heard from other people. I saw it twice, and the amount of people in both theaters who were so stoked about it when they were leaving, out numbers all the people here who didn't like it.

Everything you said is opinion. Hypocritical I must say. Your ending paragraph makes me laugh. The same can be said about the Transformer movies. The fans that brought the franchises to the point where these movies can be made are the ones who despise them. The casual fans and the ones brought in by all the explosions are the ones who make these movies work. They didn't build the franchise and I won't ever view them as such. Good luck feeling stocked by a steaming pile of dog **** that can't hold together a plot. This movie was thrown together because of fan backlash to change the script because of the turtles having alien origins.

Exactly. That's my point.

The only really terrible transformers moments I can think of are scenes with the twins. They stunk up revenge of the fallen with their cheesiness and terrible faces, and people think the turtles' faces in this movie are bad, give me a break.

I hate Michael Bay, but I expect when I will finally see TMNT, I will enjoy it even if it does a few flaws.

(don't flame me on this, just my opinion)
My theory is, If Michael Bay wasn't involved and it's still the same movie today, A lot of people's opinions on this movie would defently change to being more positive.

MrTMNT2012 08-09-2014 03:39 PM

The turtle faces allowed for way more emotion than any of the other puppet movies! That scene where Leo was held up against the gate shouting for Splinter showed real, genuine fear and devastation in Leonardo and I loved how that develops into his fight with Shredder later on as he becomes the fearless leader we all know and love.

It's great, subtle character moments like these that the Bay haters insultingly gloss over in favor of their 'ideal' Ninja Turtles Movie...

Here's a bit of advice. If you hate movies like this one? Then stop seeing them, then you won't have to go on the internet and complain about them.

Oh, I totally agree.

It's perfectly okay for the Turtles to have the hots for April in the 90s film (even kissing her image on the TV, calling her a Fox, saying they're in love....oh, and her being a two-dimensional set of tits and legs in the 80s show is fine), but this movie makes a harmless boner joke and all of a sudden it's "typical sexist, pervy Bay" and hypocritical BS like that. Never mind the film is PG-13. Never mind the Turtles are teenagers. Never mind all of that context....

Let me just say that with all of the comic-style movies that have been made over the last 12 years, I think TMNT deserves better than what we're getting. Nolan's films proves that the fans these days want dark-gritty, semi-true to the source material films. The idiots at PD have made this so difficult with their military "Foot clan" and all the other Bay-isms throughout the movie. It's not that hard seriously, you get a couple of people together that are passionate about the source material, and you write a coherent script.

This. Common sense.

Whichever god anyone chooses to worship (everyone has a different one, some have none) were to have made this movie and not MB it would have still been a complete f'ing travesty.

Define what you mean by "wasn't involved" because anybody that attempts to bastardize source material would get nuclear heat and will have fans that won't forgive them or give their money to that movie. Even if it was changed after backlash.

Take out the name Michael Bay and replace it with say...Tim Burton.

Does your feelings change with what was originally attempted? For most people not, that fact that it was Bay just made people go: "Pfft, what else is new."

ScrewtheMirageTMNT 08-09-2014 03:47 PM

Nolan's batman movies were boring, too serious and terrible batman adaptations imo. Nolan at some point questioned the idea of batman having a yellow belt and didn't even want batman to have a cape, yeah that is your hero, nolanites. Your god.

The "dark, gritty" fad is overrated. Not everything has to be some grim exercise in depression. Especially the damn TMNT. And even if they did make a film sticking to the darker Mirage comics and stuff, there would be equal amounts of critics and people whining that the filmmakers are taking the source material too seriously and sucking the fun out of it.

And really, the Mirage stuff isn't even all that dark. It's more tongue-in-cheek subversive than outright grim.

ScrewtheMirageTMNT 08-09-2014 03:50 PM

I hate how a comic book movie has to be like a nolan batman movie or else it sucks balls.

Rant on TMNT 2014! Spoilers I thought it was the best TMNT adaptation ever! http://www.phelous.com/node/31774

Batman Begins is my personal favorite superhero film ever made. It got the balance of realistic and comic book down right and is what I've always wanted from a Batman film but TDK is hella crazy overrated imo. So is Rise, I think Rises is a better film than TDK, which is like the internet equivalent of admitting you are a murderer or something.

Preach. I am right there side by side with you. I am pissed, we live in a society nowadays though where the vocal are now the minority. 99% of the people in this world do not have the balls to stand up anymore and say wait just one second.

My favorite comic book movie of all time is batman (1989). I have watched the **** out of that since the late 80s and it never ceases to entertain me. TDK is crap imo, ledger was like some overrated emo joker, TDKR is good but in a guilty pleasure way cause bane comes off as being unintentionally funny when ever he appears, and actually, I like the cia agent guy or whatever he is. I really liked fichtner as the bank manager in tdk, him and two face were good, but two face was ****ing dumb cause he allowed joker off the hook. The man nearly killed him, ****ed him up, and killed his future wife.
