Elon Musk makes offer to buy Twitter

https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/...ge/7318214001/ Also that if his offer is refused he will most likely sell his (up until an hour ago, majority shareholder in) shares of Twitter stock and tank it on the market. "Analysts warn that making Twitter a free speech free-for-all could harm its business. They say if there was no buffering of hateful, offensive or extremist posts, individual users would be less likely to use Twitter." lol... well, good! |
Not really into Twitter or Elon but I'm mildly curious as to how all this plays out
|
I rarely bother with twitter so I can't say I feel too personally concerned about it either way or why he even cares that much and doesn't just make a competitor instead...but the whole "well if you don't give in to me I'm going to try to destroy you" is some real hostile takeover wannabe dictator-ish bulls*** right there.
Always wondered why the site didn't have an edit button so I agree with him on that, but that's about it. Otherwise... I dunno, it's hard to describe the off putting creepy vibes he always gave me. Like, how to put it... the guy who could actually afford to be Batman, so to speak, but behind the scenes is a secret villain and you aren't going to know it until his hand is already in literally everything. Or some such analogy. |

Buy it, Musk.
And burn it! It is the best scenario possible. |
No, the part I can't get behind is doing that to the owners of a private company no matter how you (generic "you") feel about that company.
What, if you don't like how your neighbors keep their lawn you're in the right to just eminent domain them (if the power to do it was there) and take their property because you think you can do better? Yeah, hostile takeovers may be legal, but I can't support that crap. Think you can do better, than create something better and kill them with competition. |
At this point though, Twitter just gotta go, by any means necessary.
Hope he buys it, at least to see all the meltdowns. |
Twitter bans Trump: "It's a private company, it can do what it wants!"
Elon Musk wants to buy Twitter: "This is a hostile takeover! The end of democracy!" |
Paying a fortune for Twitter is kinda sad.
Just make an account, man. It's free. Why the need to own it? Is it really that profitable for a guy who already has so much money? Anyway, I don't care. I don't know much about this guy. As long as he doesn't use it to force his agenda down our throats. |

Twitter is trash, so whatever happens with it, makes no difference as long as this pile of garbage still exists.
|
Twitter is pro kiddie porn, black supremacy & degeneracy along with silencing all conservatives... my 4th account is now locked. My 3rd one is locked. My 2nd one is literally just pics of my cat & they locked it. My OG account was deleted completely for asking what a "micro aggression" is (for "promoting violence). Twitter is a cancer, but I had a few decent internet friends there to chat with.... if you're afraid of Free Speech, no where on the internet or outside in the real world is for you, Disneys.

Reportedly the deal is close to being finalized:

SJW up in arms and some propose to "moderate freedoms to preserve Democracy".
What a bunch of worthless shitstains. |
Twitter's the sh*ts, never used it and never will, but I LOVE how the hardcore Libs are freaking out about this because they're afraid of losing their echo chamber.
People like Mick Foley threatening to quit Twitter if Musk buys it. It's comical. It's just like the "If Trump wins I'm moving to Canada!" nonsense. If you can't handle that some people don't think/feel/act/speak in lockstep with your view, then the entire Planet Earth may not be for you. They're freaking out because "OMG People might be allowed to post Mean Things!" Spoiler Alert: Welcome To The Internet, which is FULL of people saying Mean Things. And you know what MOST people do about said "mean things"? They ignore it. Can't ignore it? Then you have a complex. Think you're gonna "save the world" through censoring people? You won't. You'll only inevitably create an uprising, because people, by and large, refuse to be silenced. All censorship is Bad by default, even if it's well-intentioned. It's inherently flawed because it relies on the idea that someone be made arbiter of what Is and Isn't Acceptable to say, and not only do such things shift with the wind, but such power comes with far too much potential for abuse. It might start with "You can't say the N word", but it inevitably comes around to simply shutting down anyone you disagree with about ANYthing, and any and all opposing speech becomes "hate speech". It's like the "Punch Nazis" thing. Sure, in theory. Except that to most of the people who espouse such a nonsense slogan, EVERYONE who holds different views from theirs is a f*cking "Nazi", therefore it's absolutely meaningless. My Hispanic next door neighbor is a successful businessman, has a wonderful family and two adorable dogs, and is an incredibly friendly person who helps his neighbors and community. He ALSO has a "TRUMP: Keep America Great" flag in his garage (which he does not keep on display outside out of respect that some neighbors may not care for it). To a lot of people, that flag makes him "A Nazi", and therefore, I am supposed to "punch" him for it. Well... no, no, I am not going to do that. He does not deserve that. He is a Good Person who happens to support a polarizing figure. BUT, to a lot of people, the only thing that matters about him is that flag in his garage. And those are the people freaking out about this Musk/Twitter thing, mostly. The ones who overreact that someone might disagree with their views and be allowed to do so out loud. Well, just tune it out if you don't like it. Nobody forces anyone to agree, and being allowed to voice an opinion does not mean people have to share it. I mean, f*ck Twitter anyway. But in theory this is still a good thing. |
As I said before the best thing Musk can do it is to cancel Twitter and shut it down. Of course, there will be alternatives, but I don't think any of them would be able to keep a momentum like a Twitter, so all those rainbow-haired freaks won't be able to congregate at the same place. Look at what had happened with Tumblr, for example.
Such event, however, would mean more toxicity will spew at all corners of Internet, like what had happened after Quarantine zone known as Tumblr had fallen down. Realistically, all freaks who promise to quit Twitter out of fear of "alt-right being mean" to their delusional soy-asses will stay there like good trained consumers. And for a Musk its just another opportunity to flex and troll his haters. It is unlikely anything will happen with platform - it is too profitable. |
