A US Consumer Product Safety commissioner said that gas stoves should be banned because they cause indoor pollution:

So I looked at the link. "We're not going after gas stoves!" except... "Please do switch to electric stoves, we'll give you an incentive to do so in the meanwhile, as we are in the middle of doing studies into the dangers/evils of gas stoves." To what possible other end could that be but... eventually going after gas stoves?

This and also an idea picks up steam no matter how ridiculous and then it is possible that gas stoves starting getting in banned in specific places and it’s snowballs from there!

Well I mean, some gas stoves require electricity in order to work....

We actually don't have a gas stove at home but the wife really wants to upgrade to one. Personally, I've seen enough action movies to where the idea of a gas stove is a little scary to me... so I'm good either way.

I honestly haven't seen a gas stove since I left Mexico.

But yeah, it sounds like they overplayed their hand and now trying to subtly backtrack but not really.

I’d be willing to bet the restaurant industry would go berserk if they had to make the switch from gas to electric! If you’re really into cooking it’s almost universally accepted that gas is far superior to electric

The electric igniter wouldn’t work during a power outage, but you can still light the gas burner with a match and cook the meals.

Our family-owned restaurant uses gas stoves to cook the food, so HECK NO, OUR STOVES WON’T GO!

I own a gas-powered stove and several gas-powered heaters. There's nothing wrong with either of them. The heaters are old, but they still do work well.

Sure enough, they're going after gas stoves.
