Was Oingo Boingo you’re first concert? My first was Fleetwood Mac. I know they’re old, but they were great. Lindsey Buckingham is the most underrated guitarist of all time. Rolling Stone Magazine is a joke. They put him at 100 for the list of 100 Greatest Guitar Players? 100? How about 5?:tcool: The concert I recently saw was Bon Jovi. They performed all their best songs, it was amazing. I do wish I was watching from the front, but Jon Bon Jovi did come to our section to perform in our view. He’s quite the showman.:tsmile: Did you see anyone recently in concert?:tgrin: |
Buckingham is fantastic! I love Fleetwood Mac as well (you can see my top 10 up a few posts). My dad loved the old pre-Buckingham/Nicks era of the group. He couldn't stand Stevie Nicks... heh heh
Anyway... Oingo Boingo was not my first show, it was Aerosmith and I think that was in towards the end of the year in 1990? I was pretty young. But back to Boingo... I think "Just Another Day" is probably their best song but how can you not love Dead Man's Party? :D |

Too bad your dad doesn’t like Stevie Nicks. Oh well. Perhaps he doesn’t like Miley Cyrus either.:tlol: So yeah, I agree. Those two Oingo Boingo songs you mentioned are my top 2 favorites.:tgrin: Which reminds me: Do you think that any of these songs that we’ve mentioned could be on a TMNT series if someone decided to play real bands?:tsmile: |
Yeah my Dad instilled a love of music in me... he has this massive LP collection (somewhere around 2,000-2500 records if i had to ballpark it!) But my Dad was the Aerosmith fan which is why I went to that show. I vaguely remember it to be honest. I think "What it Takes" is probably my favourite tune from that era.
I lost Dad about 5 years back so... I don't know if he ever heard of Miley Cyrus. He was still listening to Robert Palmer, Eric Clapton, and Tom Petty. I think he'd "given up" on the music of today  Boingo... great stuff. I also like "Not My Slave"... such a great song. I have a memory of that Boingo show but really just at the start... Elfman was wearing a t-shirt and came out banging on these big bongos... crazy stage props and what not. I remember being somewhat perturbed to be frank. Dad was a fan, which is why I went to that show with him. Man... thank God for Pops, or I'd have never gone to any shows ;) Hard to say what songs would fit with TMNT nowadays... I like the idea that Elfman could do some tunes for a newer movie/series. But hey, I'm still one of those holding out hope that one day we'll get another live-action Turtles flick like the 1st one  |
Yep. That’s from “Pump”. That’s a great song, too. I wasn’t into their material that much after that, but I loved their later hit “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”:tsmile:
I’m sorry about your dad. Mine is into that music, but he needs to be exposed right now to a few new talents. He likes Lady Gaga, but I hope he’ll get into Adele.:twink: :tcool:Oh yeah. You gotta love Elfman. Still, why didn’t they perform “Weird Science?” They perform everything else, except that one post-Dead Man’s Party album. Why? Did they hate or get tired of the song?:tconfuse: Hey. I’m excited for this new film in production . . . even though Michael Bay is involved. Still, I may enjoy this one because it’s not as boring as Transformers was for me. I can take robots only if the turtles are fighting them, or if Schwarzenegger comes in to save the day.:tlol: What I’m really looking forward to is the Nick cartoon. So far, I’m loving the direction it’s going in. Now to end things: I’m hoping we get a tint of Aerosmith or Björk in a new series someday. A man can dream, can't he?:twink: |

"We Close Our Eyes" and "Stay"... two more Boingo tunes I thought of that are great, and they did do those live. That was the first time I'd ever heard those songs :teek: Not really sure why they didnt perform Weird Science... maybe they wrote off all the performing rights to it to the film company for the movie..? |

But besides Oingo Boingo, there were others that didn't make the Top 40. Do you listen to Tori Amos? |
