IGN just announced it (if someone can find a link?) But it's a Smash clone and will have Leo and Mikey among characters from stuff like Hey Arnold, SpongeBob SquarePants and the like.

Oddly enough they are going with the 80s look. Maybe they figured 2012 is too old by now and the sooner we forget about Rise the better.

"Starring" or "Featuring" the TMNT?

Yeah I just watched the trailer, 'your favourite Nick characters'.... except with the 80s turtles.

I mean... Kinda both, right? Obviously with a title like that you're gonna get the usual Nickelodeon peeps like Hey Arnold and SpongeBob. They also added the Loud House. I'm glad they remembered their roots and added Ren and Stimpy.

I hope we get at least one TMNT-verse character who is not a Turtle: a classic villain or ally.

It is amused to see Nick is now ALL-IN on the classic cartoon stylings of the TMNT, even though that's the one series they don't actually own (so far as I know). I'll be shocked if we don't see a new CGI series or film based on the classic cartoon Turtles in the next three years.

They still used the Nick 2012 designs in the Kart Racing games they made recently. Funny how the Rise designs were just swept under the rug though.

I don't want anyone to get their hopes up but this is just a sequel and/or port of the All star brawl mobile games, so yeah it's only going to be the turtles, and it won't be the deepest game play. Just a simple smash clone with a basic roster of the most popular nicktoon characters. It should be alright if that's what you're expecting.

It does look like it favors consoles, rather than mobile platforms. I didn't see a Steam/PC icon on the supported devices, however.

So I guess this is the unofficial sequel to TMNT Smash Up from 2009.

I'm just surprised how this game started off as a forgettable flash game on Nicks website, kept getting "upates/sequels" until it became a mobile game and now is getting a console version. It has featured even non-nick characters like Power Rangers and Rabbids.

Even though TMNT almost never gets their own games anymore (outside of mobile stuff), it's interesting how many crossovers they've gotten.

Injustice 2 DLC (which is the best they've gotten), Nick Kart Racing 1 and 2 (I heard the second is actually a decent game for what it is), Brawlhalla and now this All-star Brawl. Nick really is getting them to appear in a lot of games these days which is good, because they were just stuck in mobile phone hell for awhile.

There's alot of buzz surrounding the game even within the fighting game community, turns out reason is because the developers of Slap City are the ones making the game.

people are just having fun at the possibilities of a nick crossover game. the threads on /v/ about it are hilarious and nostalgic with people going deep into the library of shows to choose a characters/stages and themes and man nick has so much content to choose from.
Face from Nick Jr. battling Alex Mack at the kids choice award stage with the hidden temple, temple music? Amazing. No way it meets any of our expectations no matter how awesome the game is now that some of us are going crazy wild with our imaginations.

eh, I wouldn't get too excited. It's just the characters in this game with maybe 6 or so as DLC later on. Since the Turtles have to share the limelight with so many other series and we only get Leo and Mikey as default, their DLC will most likely just be Raph and Don. Maybe and I say maaaaaaaaybe, Shredder, but I'm assuming having all 4 Turtles in this would be enough for them. Personally since Powdered Toastman is in this, I'd want Ren and Stimpy themselves.

What's with all these games making April a fighter now? For a game like this it would have been better to have Shredder playable.

Shredder is obviously going to be a boss character, unless you mean the Utrom Shredder or something, that just wouldn't make much sense and it would likely be confusing for the player. As for making April a fighter in games, haven't they been doing that since the Mega Drive version of Tournament Fighters?

Anyway, would I suggest you advocate for the inclusion of Karai as a playable character instead.
Edit: I realised I screwed up here, I thought this thread was about the beat 'em up, of course Shredder can be in this one. I still stand by putting Karai in this game though.

I think the Nick AS Brawl is looking like a faithful attempt to integrate her into a fighting game while keeping true to her character. She does some attack moves, but she just about always uses a prop like the handheld mic (which charges up?), a rolling video camera or a boom mic (from what I can tell).

Honestly, it's what a lot of Turtle fans wanted to see in TMNT Smash Up, which was advertised as being a blend of Turtle-lore as opposed to based off one particular franchise yet ended up looking exactly like the Imagi film with 4Kids voices. The thought of April using "news room prop" attacks would have been viewed as a creative contribution, rather than just taking the conventional way out and making her a ninja-esque combatant.

For a game like this, I think the Turtles should basically be re-skins of each other with slightly different stats.

Yeah, it's not a tmnt smash game, it's a nick crossover game, id be surprised if we get any more TMNT characters and yeah the turtles are most likely clones with few differences.
And those asking why April is even fighting here we'll you have catdog and Rugrats characters fighting as well so that's a null point.

Raph/Don may not even be in it. Having 5 TMNT characters may be too much for a game like this.

I'm still surprised they went with the classic designs rather than the Nick 2012 designs, since those Turtles are what I think of when I think of the Nick TMNT.

Honestly seeing April and the creativity of her attacks makes me wish this was a straight up 80s TMNT SMASH UP 2. Screw the Nicktoons, they got enough crossover games.

Imagine a roster of 20 or so 80s TMNT characters but then you get the movie turtles, shredder, Tokka and Rahzar as dlc.

Hopefully there's some DLC down the road. Right off the bat I'd say if Aang is there, def add Korra, then Don and Raph, at least one Danny Phantom villain. Then I guess a second round of DLC that will add at least one more character to any series that only has one representative so that every series has at least 2.

Even if it turns out real, it's not the ENTIRE roster. (It's missing Zim and Korra, who appeared on the silhouetted form of the boxart.)

I remember "playing TMNT" on the playground as a kid. If you weren't a Turtle you would be Shredder. "Being April" was something you would threaten the other kids with being forced to be, as the worst possible thing you could be in TMNT.

April was a fighter on the Genesis version of Tournament Fighters, So I think its fair to see her being playable in this game.

The only people upset at April being playable are either incels or boomers, most people seem happy. Here we have an example of April using karate in the 1987 show.


Not to mention Archie April learned martial arts from splinter, 2k3 April and Movie April fought and defeated Karai. 2012 April is a mutant with Jean Gray powers and Rise April fights like Jackie Chan.

As far as the leak, those models look too good to be fake, perhaps it's not the full roster but it seems a big enough roster for what the game is, it isn't meant to be a AAA game with a roster as big as Smash. It might only be missing the secret characters, I'd love it if there were more characters but even this roster is good. The person who leaked the image was the one who said April was in it a while back and he was right.

I fully expected them to use the Rise designs before I saw footage... this might be cool. Wish it had all four turtles (maybe future dlc?)
