Gary Anthony Williams Mutates Into Bebop

http://i58.tinypic.com/15xsjno.jpg

Gary Anthony Williams has joined the cast of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, where he’ll star as one of the franchise’s longstanding villains, ‘BeBop’. A mutated pig almost always paired off with a fellow mutant, ‘Rocksteady’, Bebop is a henchmen of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle arch villain Shredder (and thus is a quasi-member of the Foot ninja clan.) In TMNT 2, he’ll start off as a punk street thug member of a ragtag gang of misfits who acts as if he’s intellectually superior, but isn’t.

Williams joins Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Stephen Amell, Tyler Perry and Brian Tee in the Paramount sequel directed by David Green from a script by Josh Appelbaum and AndrĂ© Nemec. Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing. The film is currently filming, and is set for release June 3, 2016. Williams has also appeared in The Internship, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle and The Factory. He’s repped by APA, Jordan Tilzer at Roar, and Ginsburg Daniels LLP.

Interesting choice...

The personality trait written there makes it seem kinda like he'll more like Zeck than his OT counterpart.

This guy was hilarious on Malcolm in the Middle.

Not sure how that will translate to Bebop, but I'm game to see his portrayal. I wonder if he'll try to recreate the iconic voice?

IndigoErth 05-14-2015 10:39 PM

Don't really know much of anything about him, but nice to start getting confirmations on those two characters. And not going for the bumbling idiots angle, huh? (Granted Rocksteady is still to be determined.) Dumb ones prob aren't enough of a challenge for these Turtles. :trazz:

Powder 05-14-2015 10:44 PM

Given he tries to sound smart & fails, I'm assuming that's what makes him a bumbling idiot. & this guy has played some before.

Metalwolf 05-14-2015 10:51 PM

Hope Anton-esc is what they are going for. Bumbling idiots work fine in a cartoon, but in a movie that's going to become irritating fast if the henchman act like they are too dumb to live.

Agreed, but even if that is the case, Im hoping his screen time as a human is shortlived. Less talking, more fighting with the Turtles...hopefully.

Wow, the Nick show has a bigger name actor for Bebop than the movie does. Dude must have killed in his audition.

Yeah, 'cause that's how everyone else landed their roles. Talent...

The reality is, they have a group of in-house actors to choose from, & they say "Well, guess we'll have to use this guy".

She basically admitted others could do the role better ... and what doea being a fan have to do with it ... doesnt mean youre the best qualified for the job. Heck, I'm a longitme fan, can i be in it?

but still, i wonder when they will announce Rocksteady.

Vicky82 05-14-2015 11:59 PM

cool but i've never heard of him hopefully he's a good choice.

I expect CyberCubed will be happy

I completely read the thread title as "Gay Anthony Williams Mutates Into Bebop". I'm going blind in my old age.

But yeah... I have no idea who this dude is so best of luck to him, I suppose. Think he'll be doing the mo-cap acting as well as the voice acting?

Powder 05-15-2015 12:06 AM

He's probably known most for his voice work, so I'd say it's a safe bet he will be handling the character in full (other than stunts).

CyberCubed 05-15-2015 12:28 AM

This means two things:

1. Bebop and Rocksteady will be human prior to mutation, not dumb farm animals.

2. He's BLACK. THANK GOD. Bebop's race has been preserved in all 3 new series (IDW, Nick and now the movie!)

Just tape a purple mohawk to his bald head and give him shades and we are good to go!

DioLeo451 05-15-2015 12:42 AM

Uncle Ruckus is Bebop? YES just all of my Yes Dude:tgrin:

joefsas 05-15-2015 12:55 AM

Is that Abe from 'Malcolm in the middle?!'
God he looks different. Excited to see him as Bebop :D

Darth Knuckles 05-15-2015 01:33 AM

I know Gary Anthony Williams mainly from Boston Legal where he played a pretty good character. I've also seen him in other things like Who's Line Is It Anyway? where he was pretty funny so it's neat to actually know who's playing Bebop in the first live action appearance of him.

...Williams has never worked with them. Neither has Amell, who auditioned with everyone else.
Don't talk sh*t.
