Sorry, would have been helpful if I had put up the list in my post. Surprised to see a few of those.
|
They include Alan as a different character rather than Skeletor, maybe they wanted a major celebrity to attract the clicks.
|
he can still do the merman voice just fine.
and i'm sure man at arms isn't too hard. a shame I don't think well of mark hamil these days as a person. he seems to veter on the edge between hard core normal fan and hardcore abnormal woke celebrity. |

Buffy as Teela, batman as Merman, Joker as Skeletor, Inspector Gadget's Penny as Priestess, etc. ...interesting.
I can't remember, so wich version of he-Man is this one again? |

This cast has me really excited. I watch the current She-Ra show, though I don't necessarily love it. But I have higher hopes for this.

It's a slap in the face. Hamil does like 3 impressions total. Skeletor will now sound EXACTLY like the Joker. What Smith REALLY wanted to do, was make a Batman series, so now mr Hollywood is making a Batmanified He-man series. Let's dig up some dirt on Smith NOW. Needs to be bloody cancelled. |
I'm torn because it IS a very strong cast and nobody can dispute the names or talent involved. But on one hand, I'm not sure that some of them are quite right for their given role, and on another, BOY does this seem like someone just gave Smith a bunch of money and told him to just go out and hire his buddies or whoever he personally fanboys over. I mean, putting his daughter and Mewes in it? Y e e e a a h, I think he's already putting too much of "himself" into this project. Like yeah Lou Schiemer had his daughter play multiple roles across the entire Filmation catalog, but all of Filmation was like six people. I'm sure that cost-effectiveness was even more of a factor than nepotism in that decision; here, not so much.
I have nothing against Kevin's daughter at all, I'm just saying it's an eyebrow-raising decision and shows kinda what his priorities are. "Me and my closest friends and family are getting together to goof on He-Man and have a few laughs on someone else's dime." That's my fear. Hopefully it's unfounded. |
I think Tom Kenny should voice Orko.

He also doesn't seem to be able to do the Skeletor voice anymore. Which is probably to be expected. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxQ4RGwE3Ps |

Plus I imagine that tonally Smith's version will be a bit more menacing than the classic Filmation Skeletor and Oppenheimer's voice may not fit with that interpretation. |
I'm very curious what makes you think the person who created the villain Onomatopoeia has any skill or interest in presenting a "menacing" villain.
I mean I'm open to hearing the reasons, certainly. It's just... it's Kevin Smith. The "Batman pissed himself" guy. I don't think he can write "menacing" without taking the piss out of it. And I say that as a reasonably big fan of his work. |
Smith has come out and said the rumours about a lesbian Teela proving to be better at the He-Man role than Adam are false
|
So netflix doing two different shows?
|
Kevin shares a sample of the show's score, specifically the transformation scene

And now I want to see something, I wonder how far along this is, I noticed a tweet from Mark Hamill saying he'd been voicing Skelator. Any idea when the planned release is?
|
Allegedly "Summer", according to Smith. But who knows.
Tentatively excited. "Excited" because "More MOTU". "Tentatively", because "Kevin Smith". I like Mallrats more than most people do, but he completely lost his mind (and his touch) at some point and his track record on licensed properties simply isn't very good. ....And can a Mod capitalize "He-Man" in the thread title over here? Fer Chrissakes... :tgrumble: |
Our first look at the new CGI Netflix series (the non Kevin Smith one). Sounds like the Kevin Smith series is coming out this Summer with the CGI series coming in the Fall.

For a second I felt like I'd stepped through a time warp, since this is three weeks old already; but then I remembered that 1. I only talked about it and shared that picture in the Toys section and not here, and 2. That nobody on this forum gives a sh*t about He-Man so I guess it makes sense that almost a month would go by without anyone else bringing it up.
For what it's worth, the response thus far has been overwhelmingly negative. Granted, it's supposed to be "for the kidz" anyways, but let's be honest, no kids like He-Man anyway, either. So what's really gonna be happening is, Dads who like He-Man are gonna "encourage" their kids to watch it, maybe, but like everything else it's really for the Dads and not for the kids, no matter what they claim otherwise. And "the Dads" are not happy at all with this, so I doubt many of them will "encourage" their otherwise-disinterested kids to give it the time of day, either. I can't say I'm thrilled with it myself. His head is smaller than his hands, and his sword and costume are hideous. It's just not a good redesign. We'll see what comes of it, but I think it's far too "stylized". |
