I'm actually surprised how close the voices outside the Turtles and Bebop/Rocksteady sound to their original voices.

Baxter, Krang and Shredder sound nearly identical to their voices in the show. Same for Leatherhead and Groundchuck. I think Rat King is still voiced by Townsend Coleman.

I really, really love that Slash mod. I get why they went with the Fred Wolf design to keep in line with the show ... but the Playmates toy / Archie design is so much more appealing and threatening.

Side note - just beat my third go around with the story as Donatello! Now onto Michelangelo.

Chaotix12345 06-19-2022 01:46 PM

Yeah, that Slash mod is wicked. (I especially love the attention to detail in swapping his plain old shaolin swords with his toy weapons.) I'd legit pay for a DLC toggle for a cooler Slash. :tlol:

CyberCubed 06-19-2022 02:10 PM

I actually really like that they made the Fred Wolf design for Slash look cool for the first time, he looks better than the show despite the same outfit. I also like that we have it in a game for the first time so I'm fine with it.

I guess Granitor is the only boss from the old games who appeared in the show who didn't return in this game, even though we have gray rock soldiers. They couldn't use Tatsu since he never appeared in the cartoon despite being in Hyperstone Heist.

Xav 06-19-2022 02:28 PM

They also didn't include Cement Man neither.

That's why I said if they do DLC levels, there's not really many characters they could add for bosses unless we get Lord Dregg or something. Granitor is the only older character really missing and he's not that important.

For playable characters the Punk Frogs feel like they're going to be added at some point as they have their weapons in their profiles. I could see Mondo Gecko, Lotus Blossom, etc. being added too. Usagi is a bit of a pipe dreams as the developers already said he'd be difficult to get in.

I could see the Punk Frogs being playable considering how they are featured prominently throughout the game.

Aww  really?Oh well...
He was one of the playable characters i was hoping for to be added the most, i discussed this in a few youtube comment sections:

Do you have the quote or source from where they said it?I am just curious about their personal statement now :tcry:

Edit: I was wondering about April's "R.Mika" attack XD someone edited it back in!I had no idea it was removed or if i just didn't meet the right circumstances to perform the move or what.
I recognize the modder's nickname from the OpenBOR community...here's hoping for more overlap :D

MattOnWheels 06-20-2022 04:12 AM

Yeah, this game kicks MAJOR shell.

The detail on the Cony Island level is so Konami-esque. it's SUPER good. This game deserves all the hype it's getting.

King Suck 06-20-2022 07:29 AM

I love this game. I made my wife rage quit because i kept doing Michelangelos power up dance over and over while she was getting her ass kicked. I haven't laughed that hard in awhile.

Was she the one who gave you your Drome username?

Awesome. The Turtles' bright skin tone somewhat bothered me, so it's nice to see that mods already exist to change it. There are already 2003 style mods for April and Splinter too. I would also like to see Seasons 8-10 skins for the Turtles with the the dark green skin tone and the tan belts.

CyberCubed 06-20-2022 04:05 PM

If they make a DLC or sequel, here's some characters I can see being used next time. For bosses:

- Granitor
- Lord Dregg
- Lotus Blossom (starts as a villain)
- Antrax
- Scumbug

Maybe even Mutagen Man and Muckman.

Mondo Gecko should be playable. Lotus after beating her as a boss should become playable.

TigerClaw 06-20-2022 06:26 PM

They just added a couple of more mods, Like the monkeys throwing poop, Replacing all the music with the ones on the NES and SNES games.

How does this compare to Streets of Rage 4? I went through several hours of that last year and it might be the best beat em up I've played, full stop.

If this has the same developer, I'm very interested, despite the fact that I have more nostalgia for the 2003 era Konami Game Boy titles.

Most people who played both said this is just as good or better. If you have Gamepass it's there for free right now.

Actually a LOT of people say that this has nothing on SOR 4 and that the taunt power up system is broken.

I adored Streets of Rage 4 ... but Shredder's Revenge tops it for me.

I'm still going with SoR4 being better but that's not a knock on this.

I still think SoR4 is the more fun beat em up in every aspect from gameplay to music but this game is also really fun. I'm surprised how easy it is to find people to play with online. I think that'll change in a few months but for now, it's best to do this while it lasts. I'm surprised they brought in Tempestra but also only use Tokka and Rahzar during those fights and not give them their own boss fights.

Had to share someone's fan creation of Karai, Hun and the Dragon Lord in Shredder's Revenge style.

Sumac 06-25-2022 02:31 AM

Amazing game, better than SOR4.

Visuals are astounding and the best presentation of OG cartoon in the video games.
Gameplay is fun and dynamic, which puts it for me higher than SOR4 and on par Rive City Girls.
Music is good with some tracks being amazing.

Cloudrunner 06-25-2022 06:05 PM

I'd love to see an IDW expansion with Alopex as one of the characters... but the cynical part of me knows full well the only potential character that'll come out of IDW is ****ing Jennika.

There are rumors that Mona Lisa has files in the game as a cameo character.

CyberCubed 06-25-2022 07:35 PM

I don't think we'll see anyone outside of original cartoon characters in this even in DLC. There's a reason why everyone has their original cartoon design including Slash and Wingnut, whereas the older games used the Archie designs for them.

If we get new bosses it'll probably be Granitor, Lord Dregg, Scumbug, Antrax, etc. rather than anyone from any other series.

Playable characters should definitely include the likes of Mondo Gecko, the Frogs, Lotus Blossom, etc.

Karai would be fanservice for those that grew up with Tournament Fighters. Her and Hun are for us 2003 fans as well.

I'm surprised Zach didn't have a cameo in this game (regardless of whether one liked him or not).

sdp 06-26-2022 08:47 AM

I agree, this is the first real 1987 cartoon game and it's what it should continue to be instead of a hybrid of continuities. Super Shredder was already cutting it. Lotus blossom instead of Karai for example.

Sumac 06-26-2022 10:00 AM

I'd like to see Karai and Tatsu, I know they are not exactly OG cartoon, but as a tribute to other continuities. Besides, both had appeared in Konami games.

Very true. I was thinking that as well ... more than likely any additional villains / playable characters would borrow their 1987 cartoon design.

Usagi would be a fun addition.

AquaParade 06-26-2022 11:06 AM

If they are going to put the time into creating all new sprties and animations, they may as well just start developing a sequel. It takes a lot of time to craft sprites.

There is much they could do to evolve the gameplay mechanics further. Imagine more dynamic level design and destructibility, platforming innovation, new enemy types, better graphics, new modes, or even new combat mechanics, like block or parry.

I'd like to see them focus on that rather than working on extra characters for the same game that already has seven playable characters and 16 stages.
Granted, some of that could be done via dlc, but it still feels like spinning wheels to me.

Sumac 06-26-2022 12:27 PM

I personally hope for a short 6 level long DLC.
It won't put strain on the devs and it will allow to reuse all of the amazing assets they did.

CyberCubed 06-26-2022 12:41 PM

Did the Streets of Rage 4 DLC have new stages or just new playable characters?

New characters, boss rush, and a survival mode. Seems like about as much as you'd expect from a beat 'em up.
