Black Mirror

This has to be, hands down, my favorite new find on Netflix. I know it's been around for a few years, but I'm only now catching up.

If you're not familiar, it's an anthology similar in style to the Outer-limits, or The Twilight Zone.

Anyway, just thought some of you might dig this show.

It recently had a christmas special, I've yet to watch it

I'm a massive fan of Charlie Brooker, you should check out his Screenwipe series, full episodes can be found on Youtube

Just got into this show myself. Big fan of the first 2 episodes so far.

Oh really? Thanks! I've only had the chance to watch season 1 and 2 on Netflix, and it left me wanting more.
I'll scan youtube for Screenwipe.

I'm hooked, for sure.
With some series I can binge a whole season, but with these, after each ep, I want to "digest" a bit before watching the next. Do you find that?

Might be just me.

Finally got to watch the 3rd episode. By far my favorite so far. Really amazing episode.

I hope the 2nd season is the same quality of S1.

I saw the first episode and really disliked it. I felt like it was really heavy handed with the whole "hey guys, doesn't the internet and social media just suuuuck?". Yeah, yeah, heard it a bunch before. I get that's the point, but it wasn't for me.

I guess I also just don't find sex with a pig funny, even in a "dark humor" kind of way.

I don't think we were meant to find the pig sex funny. Maybe you missed the bigger picture.

And clearly, it wasn't that far from reality.

Stoked, to put it mildly.

Yeah, I did. Like I said, not for me.

Ok, new season's dropped and I've started watching them

My thoughts on USS Callister

Spoiler:
Pretty much a black comedy, nice to see pre-delores William from Westworld in this, and playing once again a character who receives a hard time. At first I thought Daly was going to molest his son when he brought him on board, but instead it was just straight-up murder via the airlock.

A lot of the story flip-flopped on Daly either being in control, and letting control slip. Turning crewmembers into giant monsters was a little too cartoony for my liking, I much preferred the body horror moments when he closed off Cole's mouth and eyes.

I wonder what happened to the real Cole after she was blackmailed? I thought she'd have been a bigger part of the episode alongside her computer avatar, but she just sort of vanishes after ordering the pizza.

Thought the fanservice moment felt shoe-horned in, and Daly really should have known better...at least he sort of acted like everything was off.

Anyhoo, this is more or less an episode with a happy ending...the avatars pilot their way through the upgrade cloud thinking it'll kill them, but it instead just frees them from Daly's modded patch and they're free to explore the data cloud on the other end

I give it a 7/10.

You just skipped right to that one?

It's the first episode listed, thought I'd get the "Trek one" out of the way first thing in the morning.

Oh. I thought I remembered it being listed about halfway through the season.

Was that because it was listed half-way in the announcement trailer?

Hang the DJ

Spoiler:
A straight person's San Junipero with a star-crossed couple ultimately breaking free of the system, only it's revealed at the end they're still part of it and function as their technology does to a whole other level of a world outside of their own. Takes a little while for the twist to sink in though, I was left slightly dumbstruck before I wound up awe-struck, rofl.

It is interesting to find the girl had more sexual experiences displayed than the man, probably just to enforce the fact she goes to feel nothing about those other relationships.

Near the end I thought the twist for the ultimate match would have been when the bloke, Frank, met the woman who'd also been ditched and the two have sex thinking about their preferred partners
