I don’t know when I’ll see this. For the price I’d rather wait for the Blu Ray. It’s cool theatrical movies are being released at home though.

I agree they should have at least told the other voice actors about the changes but Grey Griffin saying she’ll probably never see it is just too far. I hope she’s not that upset about the voice change.

I understand wanting to be part of the “Big Hollywood” version and having an emotional connection but they’re not changing the DTV movies and tv series. I know Kate Micucci replaced Mindy Cohn.

On a side note I came across an old petition to stop Grey from doing voice acting. They say she’s been rude and offensive on social media. I have no idea if that’s true. I don’t follow her. Thought it was weird.

Just saw it.

Wow. I hated it. And I don’t say that often.

They just wanted to start fresh, new voice actors, this is a big budget scooby not the usual home movie scoob or tv scoob and since it's not live action they wanted it to be sure on people's minds that this was another scooby to jump into. I agree completely with the idea and I love the original voice actors but you need to differenciate certain things, in fact I'm disappointed they kept Frank Welker, give Scooby a new voice, it's not like he'll be around forever, he's in his mid 70s and not the original scooby voice either but they probably thought if social media campaigned against them for a voice it would be his so they let him do it.

The problem with this movie is they're trying to do a cinematic universe instead of starting with scoob and it's not like other HB characters fit very well in the scooby series, even in the cartoon continuity we don't have the jetsons show up on scooby. I actually just realized I could've seen the movie for free during work hours for the digital premier but missed the email telling us about it so I guess I'll just wait until it's on some streaming service, don't care enough to even pirate it. Let's see how it does at the box office, I could see it being a huge bomb as it should be or a huge success just cuz there's nothing else to see for new movies.

Depends. They’ve been retconning some stuff lately, so it could be that they are trying to makes this in continuity.

They're retconning the gang always being teenagers in all of the shows and no paranormal stuff ever happening which absolutely sucks and has ruined many movies/shows because of it I don't see them retconning this. I also feel that as soon as the current people in charge are gone we'll see the gang being experimented on again and allowed to be adults or encounter real paranormal things.

Critic scores so far sits at 53%, but audience appreciation is in the solid 70s, so while not a critical darling, it's clicking more with the public, likely due to families and kids

sdp 05-15-2020 01:16 PM

The few reviews I read were pretty much something of the likes of : "It's a movie for kids, not much for adults 4/10", I mean what the hell kind of professional reviewers are out there, it's Scooby ****in' Doo, it's not meant to be for adults. I may not like the direction of the movie but come on, a kids movie needs to be entertaining to kids.

Here is a free five-minute preview of the film.

My best friend had been feeling just a little down and bored lately. Also, she has been a big fan of Amanda Seyfried since Mamma Mia. So, I did her a favor and rented it.

Spoiler:
All in all, the film was just all right. It is colorful and there are some great homages to the very beginning of the franchise and plenty of Hanna-Barbera Easter eggs as well. I thought Mark Wahlberg was entertaining as the Blue Falcon. He was a superhero that showed growth and I was rooting for him. Fred was kind of an idiot again like in the last two direct-to-video films and once again had an obsession with the Mystery Machine. However, he was smart to take something from Dick Dastardly, which helped them defeat him in the end. Velma and Daphne are solid characters. Also, even if she did get kidnapped along with Fred and Velma, Daphne wasn't such a huge damsel-in-distress. She made some great choices and took part in the action. Scooby and Shaggy's friendship really was put to the test. I still wish the regular voice actors were used and the middle and most of the end didn't feel like a real Scooby-Doo movie. I give them credit for trying something different though.

Grey Delisle-Griffin responded to what she said earlier and it sounds like she has no ill-will towards Seyfried and that she probably sounds lovely as Daphne, but she just doesn't want to see the film.

Matthew Lillard wished the film and the cast well.

But he says that it still obviously hurts that he didn't get to do it. I obviously don't blame him or Griffin and Miccuci being blindsided by the decision that Warner Bros. hire other people.

And I think Hollywoods an interesting place and I’ve been around for a long time. Some of them are easier than others when you don’t get a job, but that one was a bummer. I like playing the part I like sort of having a legacy and a career that I’ve spent 30 years doing. So I like the fact that I was that part, and it was a bummer that it went a different way.

She really was heartbroken when they recast her role for this movie and was also just as hurt that they didn't even tell her that she wasn't going to do it. Earlier this year, I did look at her Twitter and she has said some nasty and offensive things. That's what I muted her and if Tweets from her do pop up I just choose the option of showing fewer Tweets from her. It's possible that being upset over the recast led to her angry and disrespectful behavior, but she's also been through three divorces. However, I can't deny that she's really nailed the role of Daphne these past two decades.

In other news, the film will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD next month.

The petition was not recent though. I did not look through her twitter but not sure it was Scoob related if she really said anything inappropriate.

I did look up her credits and she has voiced so many things I was not even aware of. I understand the character grew on her but its 1 Daphne role.

Just should have let Grey and Matthew know. I dont know how Kate felt since shes done Velma for a shorter time and Frank was still included.

The movie is also streaming on HBO Max.

God, I hope they get Mathew Liiard back as the voice of Shaggy.

ranger_scout 06-20-2021 03:00 PM

Clearly it must've done well enough digitally during the lockdowns and I‘m guessing the recent reissue in theaters along with the upcoming release of Space Jam: A New Legacyy helped create more interest. These incarnations of the characters will be making cameo appearances in that film.

Plus, Amanda Seyfried might be a draw now since she is an Oscar nominated actress. Still, the reception it got wasn’t all that great and die-hard fans really didn’t enjoy the film at all. Plus, this has got to continue to sting for Matthew Lillard, Grey DeLisle-Griffin, and Kate Miccuci because they 99% guaranteed not to do the sequel. Warner Bros. probably thinks that if audiences didn’t mind over the decades that the various Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film series, even though they are not the current distributor, had different voice actors in their films than the ones for the TV shows, then the same could be said for this franchise. The problem is that the Mystery Gang sounded very out of character except for of course Scooby since he was voiced by Welker.

I'm a little more surprised they killed the Scoob! sequel relative to Batgirl. WB has no hesitation with pumping out Scooby-Doo DTV movies every year. So what's the big deal with a higher-than-normal budgeted CGI flick?

oldmanwinters 11-09-2022 09:31 AM

Apparently, the creative team on Scoob 2 continued working to finish the movie last week even though there's no chance of it being released.

Tax write-off stipulation to make sure it's actually a completed movie, I guess?

The director explained why he finished the holiday special anyway.
