There was a time when Nick Fury was recognized purely as a white character. Then came the "Ultimate Nick Fury," and now we have Samuel L. Jackson playing him in the Marvel film universe, and people love it. Yeah, I'm sure some people made a fuss about it, but most people don't care that the character was once white, and now is black.
