Actually I believe his/her theory may hold weight. Why is it that Mikey was the only one who could access that portal? Maybe it has something to do with the fact he is the only turtle who has doused himself with a rejected batch of mutagen? So this could be an unforeseen side affect.
Or you could chalk it up to Mikey being the Pinky Pie of the show.
Then again it could be that all the Turtles will discover unforeseen abilities in themselves and learn what these strange abilities mean.
