I see this come up a lot, and I am always baffled. I mean, we're fans. Looking too much into things is what we do. So why is it fine everywhere else but not when it comes to taking note of the way the show can be problematic? Defending the show by saying that it's "just a show" feels like the worst thing you can call it. If it's "just a show"--insubstantial and inconsequential and not worth thinking about on any deep level--then what the heck are we all doing here?
