This. We could see plainly that she was shocked when you see her facial expression. And it hadn't been brought up because learning that she's supposedly a mutant has got to be a lot for her to sort out.
Imagine what things would be like if you group up among humans, and have believed your whole life you were human. The only difference is you had these inexplicable powers no one can explain. Then one day you learn the reason you have these powers is because you aren't actually human, you are actually a human/alien crossbreed and the reason the aliens want you is because your DNA is used to stabilize part of their evil evil plan to seize control of the earth.
That would be too much for any person to deal with and even more so to accept.
