I figured it was good for physical injuries and life-threatening situations. I don't see how the healing mantra would've worked for Donnie's situation. The only other place I've seen something like that in a fictional series is Naruto and ironically, it was used to heal a poison victim, but they didn't do a mantra.

Third Harry Potter book did that. Harry ended up saving himself in the same way the Turtles saved Splinter. It's not a new concept...
