I agree that Casey should not be mutated for the sake of the experience. As Tarris pointed out, Casey is supposed to be the normal every man of the series who fights along side the Turtles to save humans from threats such as the Foot Clan.

And having him be mutated just ruins even for one episode does ruin his character, particularly with how unpredictable the mutagen actually is. Look at Kirby, when he mutated he was turned into feral minded man bat. And when he was mutation was reversed he was confused over what had just happened to him, which begs the question: Has he lost all memory of when he was a mutant, or he doesn't remember because he doesn't want to remember?

However if the show does choose to Mutate Casey temporarily I think he may be the opposite of Timothy.

In the Pulverizers appearances he reveals that he saw the Turtles fighting Baxter Stockman. So he essentially want to be a super hero simply because it looked cool, without taking into consideration the responsibility and sacrifice that comes with it.

Then later when he is told he is to have mutagen tested on him. He jumps at the chance believing that as a mutant he would have cool powers and abilities. Despite the fact Donnie was warning him that becoming a mutant would not bring him any happiness.

In Casey's case he becomes a vigilantly because we know he's seen Mutagen Man and Robot Ninja attacking April. And he's grown up with the crime of the city, and he's not unfamiliar with the Alien attacks as he did mention the Technodrome invasion from season 1. So he feels that someone needs to take a stand against the threats to the city alien, mutant, and thug alike.

In Casey Jones Vs. The Underworld, Casey does express some discontent over the fact the Turtles saved the city from the Kraang, but he himself was left sitting on the sidelines. And at the end of the episode, he did comment that he would still act on his own then as a team player.

So he would understand that Mutations were not something he should personally desire. After all April probably explained what happened to her father after Casey met the Turtles. And then of course there's Mondo Gecko who was abandoned by his own parents after he was mutated.

So if he was by chance Mutated it would have to be accidental. I.E. Falling or being hit by mutagen during a battle. But Donnie knows how to make Retromutagen now so Casey wouldn't be a mutant for long, unless they some how tie that to an enemy learning about the Retromutagen. In the end Donnie still would have to restore Casey to human again, even if it means essentially saying good bye to any hope of being more then just a friend to April.
