It's pretty clever and you have multiple ways you can try and explain away all the various inconsistencies this creates with the depiction of both on the show as well as what little decsription we have of Krang's backstory. I think easiest being that there are 2D parts and 3D parts of Dimension-X and maybe the Neutrinos saw things differently to the Kraang in terms of how incompetent Krang was but then it the characterization of the OT characters being screw ups bothered fans in Turtles Forever it's kinda strange this doesn't bother anyone.

Whoa...this brings up a lot of new thoughts. Since the second dimension of Dimension X is the one from the 87 version, that means the second dimension of 2K12 IS THE 87 VERSION! Trippy, that's some Mr.Mxyzpltlk stuff right there.

Not gonna lie, this thought is how I can still enjoy them in the movie. Also why there were suddenly mutant bananas.
And if the distortion wasn't from the 87 universe itself, it could also have been from Ch'rell attempted to destroy the entire multiverse, which even after stopping effected the 4th dimension to its core causing permanent distortion. That is some Back to the Future Stuff right there.
