Ah yes, the "You just don't like change" argument. The argument that fools always fall back upon when their position is untenable.
Change is not inherently good. Change for the sake of change and for the sake of pushing "the message" is what's been ruining established franchises for the last 8 years or so. The mark of people who lack talent, standing atop the shoulders of people who already put in the work to develop good stories and characters, while simultaneously taking a dump on their head to push their own version foward and "leave their mark." If your work can't cut it without hijacking an established brand, then you never had the talent to make it in the first place.
